Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy

Chapter 119 A Man of Vastness, Skilled in Both Literature and Martial Arts (Part 2)

"Stop looking at Beth, we have to go." Salta picked up an exposed steel bar from the ground, used it as a crowbar to clear the way, and headed straight for the woods to the south.

Beth seemed still reeling from the shock Naya had just given her, her eyes fixed straight ahead, muttering to herself, "Incredible, incredible..."

Then, she slapped her forehead in frustration, "If only I had brought my camera."

Salta shook his head helplessly and said, "Can't you think of something else? If it weren't for her, we'd probably be drowning by now." Though he said this, Salta was still filled with fear deep down. If something had really happened today, the consequences...

"Look over there! Is that a military plane?"

Salta looked in the direction she was pointing, squinting as she observed closely. In the darkness, a squadron of jets, their signal lights flashing, circled White Bear Mountain and sped towards Deep City.

Salta climbed to the treetop and looked out over them.

"It doesn't look like it. The engine model sounds too old. This kind of aircraft has been phased out for a long time."

Logically speaking, although there are troops stationed near Shenzhen, they wouldn't usually send air force units to patrol the surrounding area without warning. Moreover, Salta clearly saw that the aircraft's fuselages were fully loaded with ammunition, and that they were flying in formation in combat readiness.

“Something’s not right—Beth, is your phone still working?” Salta took a few steps forward, trying to track the planes. However, they quickly disappeared into the distance.

“It got wet…” Beth shook her phone helplessly; the phone was completely unresponsive.

Just then, a series of explosions came from afar, accompanied by bursts of fire rising from the woods. However, due to the torrential rain, the fire was quickly extinguished. At this moment, the vanished aircraft reappeared, beginning their dive, their gleaming machine guns continuously licking the ground.

“Oh, no, Naling…” Salta stared blankly at the flattened area, realizing his naivety.

Na Ling and the others did not reach Shencheng.

……

Death always arrives silently. Having just escaped Farrow, Abu, prioritizing his own survival, was forced to use his long-hidden Lylet Exoarmor. His enhanced senses immediately detected the anomaly in the sky.

"Ah Ling! There's an air raid!" Abu sprinted on all fours, running as fast as he could and shouting at Na Ling.

However, Na Ling didn't need anyone's reminder. She was all too familiar with this roaring sound coming from the sky. She had heard it countless times more than a decade ago.

"Get out of the way!" Na Ling gestured.

Almost simultaneously, countless air-to-ground missiles rained down, carpet-sweeping the entire village. The explosions were deafening, dirt flew everywhere, and the once sturdy wooden houses were instantly shattered.

"Holy crap—is this for real?!" Sharp, who witnessed the entire bombing from the outskirts of the village, nearly popped his eyes out.

He initially thought it was just a minor conflict, but the scene before him shocked him. The entire village was almost completely destroyed, houses collapsed, and flames soared into the sky.

Several children who had fallen behind surrounded him in fear, and Sharp quickly grabbed them and jumped into a dug trench.

The children started chattering and screaming, but Sharp, unable to understand the deer tribe's language, could only keep patting their heads, trying to comfort them in this way.

"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, I'm here." Although his own voice was trembling uncontrollably, he tried his best to remain calm. After all, he had never personally experienced such a scene before, let alone faced those deer-tribe madmen head-on.

Sharp hid the children in the trench, then cautiously peeked out to observe the activity outside.

The raging fire that had just started was partially extinguished by the raindrops, but the flames remained fierce. The entire forest was ablaze, fallen tree trunks were burned to charcoal, and the air was filled with a pungent, thick smoke.

A massive, greyish-blue figure burst forth from the burning grass, accompanied by the howls of wolves that echoed through the forest. Faro fiercely swung its thick, powerful tail, its sharp wolf eyes fixed intently on its target ahead—Sharp.

not good!

Sharp inwardly cried out in alarm and quickly pulled his head back into the trench, only then belatedly realizing that he had just made a fatal mistake.

Then, the ground began to shake violently, and the rapid, heavy footsteps grew closer. Sharp looked back and saw the innocent children huddled together tightly…

Sharp gritted his teeth, took a deep breath, and resolutely jumped out of the trench.

“I’m here!” he shouted hoarsely, waving his arms in an attempt to distract Farrow.

"Capture them alive—"

Fanny, perched on the wolf's back, swung her steel claw, and a line of cavalry riding reindeer sprang from the bushes beside her. Clearly, they were the regular army of the Deer Clan.

Sharp knew that in his current state, he had no chance of escaping their pursuit. So, he stopped and stood in the way of the surviving villagers as they evacuated.

"Wasn't Mus supposed to be arresting me? Why are you only sending a few of you?" Facing the surging enemy before him, Sharp, emboldened by some unknown source, shouted defiantly. Streams of energy surged continuously from his hands.

“There’s no need for him to personally intervene. You won’t even last until the end of this attack… right, young man?” Fanny raised her chin, never intending to take him seriously. “However, since you want to play the hero, we can grant your wish.”

The fully armed cavalrymen in the front row gradually made way for Alston, who arrived late with a disdainful look on his face.

"Is this the one we need to capture? And it even requires the entire Templar Knights to be mobilized?" He toyed with the razor in his hand, pointed at the lone Sharp, and his contempt was almost overflowing.

"You sissy, who do you think you are?" Sharp retorted defiantly, jumping up and down as if eager to fight.

Alston wasn't angered by Sharp's words. Instead, he sneered, "Heh, I'd like to see where this kid gets his confidence from." With that, he swung his razor, aiming to slash at Sharp's arms. What seemed like a sure strike unexpectedly missed. The blade struck the muddy ground beside him, kicking up dust.

This scene surprised everyone, especially Alston himself. He had no doubt about the timing and force of his attack. But Sharp simply dodged it without any apparent reason…

The propositional effect on Sharp was triggered passively once again.

"Alston, go take a break, I'm taking the spoils first—"

Just as Fanny was about to take further action, a golden light suddenly burst out from the wall of fire and abruptly blocked Sharp and the others.

Suddenly, a powerful stream of light energy erupted in the form of a shockwave, so dazzling that it was impossible to look directly at it, and the resulting high temperature was unbearable. This forced Alston and the others to retreat continuously to avoid its impact.

Sharp lay prone on the ground, the scorching air still relentlessly sweeping over his body. The figure at the very center of the explosion became blurred and unrecognizable.

The devastating heatwave only subsided after the grass on the ground had turned to ashes and the trees within a radius of dozens of meters were reduced to blackened trunks.

Na Ling landed lightly on the ground and carefully blew out the remaining flame in her hand.

“Didn’t I tell you to go first?” she said, as she helped the fallen Shapra up and looked at him with concern.

Sharp responded with a wry smile, "Where can I run to? Wherever I go, things are destroyed. Mus is so relentless in his pursuit of me. You're the one who should leave me, Naling." After saying that, he turned to look at the children shivering in the trench, and only after confirming that they were safe and sound did he breathe a sigh of relief.

"What? Are you starting to give up on yourself again? Do you feel like you've let me down again?" Na Ling bent down slightly, got close to his face, and looked directly into his eyes as she asked.

Sharp avoided her gaze, his head bowed. "Because of me, too many people have been implicated... some have died, some have been injured. I don't want to see you suffer the same fate again—"

He didn't truly want to give up on himself; he was simply afraid he would bring her more danger and trouble. This was the method Mus used—eliminating everyone connected to him one by one, leaving him completely isolated and hopeless. Naya had already met a tragic end… so who would be next? Zhao Lin? Abu? Or perhaps Na Ling?

But Na Ling doesn't think so.

“Look at me, kid.” She straightened up and used her hand to lift Sharp’s head so that he looked directly at her.

The next second, Na Ling cupped Sharp's face and pressed her lips deeply against his without hesitation.

"!"

This sudden action startled Sharp; he had never expected Naling to be so direct.

She kissed him very hard...

Naling clung tightly to Sharp, her warm breath seeping through his thin bodysuit, making Sharp feel cozy all over. They were like chocolates thrown into a microwave, seemingly about to melt at any moment.

After the kiss, Na Ling didn't give him a chance to savor it, immediately pulling away from his lips, leaving only a trace of lingering warmth. She lowered her head slightly and rested it against his chest.

"This kiss isn't for any other reason... it's just compensation for the way I looked down on you before..." Na Ling took a few steps back, instantly reverting to her indifferent attitude.

“Now, I want you to pick up the knife, walk up to Mus and tell him—I’m not fucking afraid of you.”

However, before Naling could maintain her haughty demeanor, Sharp reached out and grabbed her again, pulling her back into his arms. This stubborn and proud woman would never easily admit defeat in front of others unless he did so.

"We'll settle our scores slowly after this is resolved," he teased, his hand moving up Na Ling's neck and gently caressing her lips.

Na Ling suppressed her blush and turned her face away, but her hand unconsciously slipped into his palm.
