Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy
Chapter 115 Until the Blood Runs Dry (Na Ling's Personal Chapter)
Many years ago, on a cold winter night, the biting wind howled. It wasn't even the season for snow, yet snow was already falling heavily outside the window…
"The darkest hour is just before dawn—"
Separated by an iron fence, Xiao Yiyun skillfully lit a cigarette, took a deep drag, and then slowly exhaled the smoke.
"But some people always fall just before dawn, and unfortunately, we are those people."
Na Ling stood on the other side of the iron fence, listening quietly to his words, a wave of indescribable sorrow washing over her. The acrid smell of smoke made her cough a few times. But Na Ling's gaze remained fixed on this charming man.
“Open this…” she whispered, a pleading look in her eyes.
Xiao Yiyun gently grasped her wrist, which was resting on the cold iron railing, and squeezed it hard.
"I really hope we can stay together like this forever..." He lowered his head, his voice filled with endless longing.
But reality was crueler than they imagined.
Xiao Yiyun gradually released Na Ling's hand and retreated step by step to a corner of the room. He picked up the thing called a gun again, turned his back to Na Ling, and prepared for the upcoming battle.
“Around midnight… they’ll launch their final attack soon. To put an end to this battle that’s lasted so many days.” His tone became resolute, and he cocked his gun.
Na Ling couldn't bear to look at Xiao Yiyun's back, so she turned away and leaned weakly against the fence.
"This is our grave." The voice echoed in the silent winter night, foreshadowing the end of their lives.
Na Ling closed her eyes, tears streaming down her cheeks. She so desperately hoped they could make it through this final moment, even if it was just a sliver of hope…
"Why don't you leave? I'd feel a little better if you just left... Besides, this war has nothing to do with you." She said in a daze.
“Someone needs to fly the plane, Naling. My plane is repaired; once it takes off, it can block enemy air strikes and buy time for your cavalry—”
"..."
At this point, Na Ling fell completely silent. Perhaps it was regret—regret for so easily entrusting the most precious and tender emotions of her heart to the man before her. Or perhaps it was a deep loathing for the profound powerlessness she felt. Faced with the cruel twist of fate, she felt like a caged bird, struggling helplessly, unable to escape the endless pain and torment. This feeling of being powerless to change her situation brought her to the brink of collapse.
For the first time in her life, Na Ling tasted the bitterness of despair.
"Yes, you're not the first person to leave me..."
One by one, those she thought would stay with her until the end disappeared from her life, leaving her alone to bear this loneliness and sorrow.
Now, she had miraculously survived that great battle. But she felt no joy. The one she loved so deeply was gone, and his blood feud remained unresolved. So many years had passed, and whenever the night was still and the thought of death crept into her mind, those past memories would flash through her mind like scenes from a movie, over and over again, impossible to shake off.
Yiyun, what should I do?
……
"Pooh--"
A loud spitting sound rang out, and a strong, metallic taste of blood instantly filled her mouth. Na Ling felt her head buzzing. She struggled to hold onto the broken tree trunk beside her, using it to support her body, which was about to collapse.
"Give in, you damned traitor—" Fanny roared sharply from nearby. Her once fair and delicate face was now terrifying with extreme rage. She gritted her teeth, enduring the excruciating pain of her dislocated left arm, and forcefully pried the dislocated joint back into place with her right hand. A chilling grinding sound filled the air, and large beads of sweat rolled down Fanny's forehead, but she didn't utter a single sound.
Fanny's sharp wolf claws, now raised again, were stained with blood, and her mouth was bright red. The deep wound on Naling's shoulder was still oozing blood, clearly from Fanny's recent vicious bite. The torn flesh lay there alone on the ground.
“The little wolf cub has pretty good teeth, it dares to bite anything…” After saying that, she glared back defiantly and tied the wound tightly with a rag.
Unable to resist the provocation, Fanny's anger flared instantly upon hearing these words. Her body, already tense with rage, trembled even more violently, like a withered leaf in the wind, her canine teeth chattering uncontrollably in her mouth.
Before either of them could react, a ghostly, deadly white figure suddenly darted out from behind Fanny. The figure moved with lightning speed, closing in on Naling in the blink of an eye. The white figure wielded a long, sharp razor, aiming a vicious slash at Naling's head.
In an instant, the blade flashed. Although Na Ling reacted extremely quickly, she was ultimately a step too slow. A lock of hair fell to the ground, and the tip of the razor smoothly grazed her brow, leaving a shallow bloodstain.
“You’ve slowed down quite a bit, Naling.” Alston said with a forced smile, his sneak attack having failed. He casually reached out and wiped the blade of his razor, the gleaming tip pointing at her once more.
"Hurry up and take her down! They're about to drop a bomb, and I don't want to get blown up by my own bomb!" Yi Tong ran out of the bushes, panting. The three of them had just fought so fast that she, with almost zero close-combat ability, couldn't keep up with the pace at all.
"Fallow, let's go!" Seeing the situation was dire, Fanny whistled without hesitation. Instantly, Fallow arrived like lightning and came to a steady stop beside Fanny. She leaped up and gracefully jumped onto the wolf's back.
Sensing something was wrong, Naling reacted quickly, throwing a hand chop in the direction Fanny had gone. Faro swung its thick, powerful tail, like a steel whip, and sent it flying far away into the nearby bushes.
Oh no... Sharp and the others... Na Ling thought to herself, "This is bad."
Taking advantage of her distraction, Alston suddenly attacked. His razor swung mercilessly towards Naling, who rolled away nimbly, dodging the fatal blow. After getting up, Naling swiftly and accurately stepped on the hilt of Alston's razor, which he hadn't yet retracted.
Immediately afterwards, Na Ling's right hand quickly reached towards her lower back, trying to pull out the weapon that was tucked there, but after groping around for a long time, she found nothing.
"Looking for this?" he said, tossing his long brown hair and proudly brandishing what he held in his hand—the exquisite dagger from Naling's waist. This cunning deer-clan sorcerer had stealthily taken Naling's dagger during the brief exchange of blows. Even more striking was the blue feather that had once been tied to the hilt; now it served as a glaring warning.
Alston gripped the hilt of the knife tightly and then pushed upwards sharply. Naling involuntarily lost her balance and staggered backwards. Helpless, she had to stretch out her hands to brace herself and barely regain her footing.
Flames formed from flowing light energy burned uncontrollably in his palm. Na Ling pressed them down forcefully, his face contorted in pain.
Seeing that Naling seemed to have exhausted all the flowing light energy in her body, Alston dared to slowly approach, looking at her with a playful expression.
Despite still harboring some apprehension about her terrifying strength deep down, Alston had to admit that Naling was no longer the same as before, and her power was far inferior.
He twirled the dagger in his hand, slowly disassembling the scabbard. As the scabbard gradually peeled away, the dagger's sharp blade was finally revealed, gleaming with a chilling light.
"Why aren't you saying anything? Have you given up struggling?" A hint of smugness flashed in Alston's eyes as he pressed the tip of his knife against Naling's chin and gently lifted her head, which had been hanging down.
For Naling, this knife represents her connection to the past and her memories, and the fact that someone is trying to defile it is as intolerable as defilement of herself.
"Fanny even specifically chose this place full of flowers, it's making me want to throw up." He frowned, pinched his nose, and complained about the strong floral scent around him.
However, Na Ling would never sit idly by and let others manipulate her. She focused her mind again and quietly gathered the flowing light energy back into her hand.
"Hey, Minister of Research, aren't you going to come and lend a hand?" He turned to look at Yi Tong, only to find that the latter had subconsciously taken a few steps back, as if she had already anticipated what was going to happen next.
Alston suddenly felt his hand being gripped tightly by a powerful force, rendering him unable to move. As he realized something was wrong, a burning, stinging pain quickly spread throughout his right arm.
"Don't touch me with your filthy hands—" Na Ling growled, standing up abruptly and nearly snapping Alston's right arm, which was gripping the dagger.
"You woman... you're so ruthless, you won't even spare yourself!" He tried to grab the weapon next to him again in a panic, but Naling was faster. She kicked the razor out of Alston's hand, letting it slide to the side.
Na Ling let out a cold laugh, and a gust of cold wind rose from beneath her feet.
"The yolk is about to leak out."
After saying that, she kicked out and struck Alston hard between the legs.
"Click——"
A crisp cracking sound rang out, as if something had broken.
Alston let out a piercing scream, his body instantly curling into a ball, his hands clutching his groin, writhing on the ground in agony. His lips were bitten raw from the excruciating pain, bleeding profusely.
Na Ling smoothed her hair, bent down to pick up the dagger that had fallen to the ground, and glared down at him with extreme disgust.
Yi Tong couldn't bear to look and immediately covered her eyes with her hands. She seemed to feel the same soul-crushing sense of devastation.
"Such a well-planned collaboration, Mus must have personally intervened, right?" She stepped over the fallen Alston, stood before Eton, and demanded, "Where is he now?"
"He'll come uninvited, Na Ling, you... Ahhhhh!" Before she could finish speaking, Yi Tong was grabbed by Na Ling and thrown more than ten meters into the air, kicking her arms and legs wildly.
Just as Yitong was about to land, Naling flashed forward and caught her in a princess carry. Yitong was like an extremely frightened child. She even forgot that she was being held by Naling, and instead clung tightly to her, begging for mercy. Her whole body was trembling like a roasted chestnut.
There was no pity in Na Ling's eyes. She remained cold, waiting for Yi Tong to speak obediently.
“Mus…Mus is waiting for you, just outside…not far from here…” Yi Tong’s finger trembled as she pointed to the outside of the woods, her voice broken and intermittent.
"Wouldn't it have been better to do this earlier, Yitong? Why should a clerical worker like you have to suffer with them?" After saying that, she casually tossed Yitong aside, clapped her hands, and looked back at the village.
The howling of wolves was coming from the village, and it sounded extremely terrifying.
Sharp...
She began to feel uneasy again.
"Why go to such lengths, not even sparing your own people?" Na Ling couldn't understand, her voice filled with disappointment and sorrow.
She didn't have much time left. She quickly removed the extra clothes from her body, leaving only the dark gray bodysuit, which clung carefully to her slender frame.
Na Ling lightly touched the ground with her feet, and her whole body floated up, hovering in mid-air.
