Boonie Bears: Another World Fantasy
Chapter 101 The Torch (Part 1)
"Outsiders, you must take control of this powerful force..."
"In this way, you will be invincible and victorious in every battle."
Mavia's voice still accompanied Sharp, and the great deer knight who had traversed the ages appeared before him, now fully armored and armed.
The luminous energy clinging to his body occasionally lingered around his fingertips. Sharp raised his arm, observing it closely. He could feel this power continuously surging out of his body.
Sharp sat up in bed, took a deep breath, and guided the energy into his palm. The flowing energy coursed down his arm, filling every vein, and finally gathering in his palm.
Whenever he concentrated, a faint light began to flicker in his palm. It danced at his fingertips, forming various shapes and patterns as he wished.
Then, Sharp stood up completely, went to the full-length mirror beside the bed, and gradually let the energy manifest itself freely...
Instantly, his entire body was enveloped in this powerful golden light, like a burning golden flame. The surrounding air seemed to boil, as if responding to Sharp's call.
"Hmm—" Suddenly, a gasp came from the doorway.
Upon hearing this, Sharp was startled and quickly turned to look in the direction of the sound. He saw a pair of unfamiliar and fearful eyes peeking out from behind the half-open door.
You, Naling, are you going to stay up all night to spy on me?
Sharp was immediately displeased. He then chased after her shirtless.
"ah!!!"
When he flung open the tent flap, he saw a strange little girl holding freshly folded clothes, staring at him blankly. Her trembling eyes revealed either fear or awe.
Sharp was stunned. The girl's outfit was exactly the same as when he first met Naya in the Enchanted Forest—wearing a dark brown shawl and with the iconic triangular symbol painted on her face.
“Ugh—Eee-ya…” The girl’s eyes widened in terror, like a startled rabbit. She immediately put down the clothes in her hands and frantically made signs, her expression filled with shyness and anxiety.
The girl's panicked gaze didn't even dare to look at Sharp's half-naked body.
"What do you mean?!" Sharp tried to get closer to figure out what the girl was trying to say, but she was so frightened that she backed away and fell to the ground.
"Huh?" Sharp was at a loss for words.
"Uncle, you scared Xiaowen!" A familiar voice rang out from afar, carrying a sharp tone unique to girls.
Before Sharp could react, a small but powerful fist landed lightly on his back. Sharp turned around in surprise and saw Zhao Lin's graceful figure standing there, her beautiful face showing a slight hint of displeasure.
Zhao Lin quickly stepped forward, helped the girl named Xiao Wen up, and gently comforted her, "Don't be afraid, it's alright..." She also used simple sign language gestures occasionally, seemingly trying to reassure Xiao Wen. Once Xiao Wen had calmed down, Zhao Lin turned around to face Sharp.
"Uncle, you haven't been brainwashed by that so-called high priest, have you? It's so early in the morning, and you're running around like this without even bothering to get dressed properly." Although she was scolding Sharp like this, Zhao Lin's bright eyes kept glancing at him involuntarily.
Haha, this reporter Zhao is truly a hypocrite!
Indeed, due to the influence of the flowing energy, Sharp's physical form had subtly transformed without his notice. Initially, he was thin and withered; however, as time passed, Sharp had gradually become more muscular and robust, and his skin had become increasingly smooth and delicate. Could this be due to the mysterious power contained within the golden antlers? Could it truly rejuvenate someone, making them feel reborn?
"Where is this, Zhao Lin?" After taking the coat she handed him, Sharp looked around and realized that this place was no longer the virgin land by the river.
"How should I describe it? Well, it's an extremely secluded place, unknown to anyone..." Zhao Lin's lips curled into a mysterious smile as she slowly backed away. She gently placed her right hand on her chest and gave a perfect salute in a certain direction with utmost reverence.
Seeing Zhao Lin and Xiao Wen's strange and abnormal behavior, Sharp couldn't help but feel a chill run down his spine.
“This place can be considered a branch of the Deer Clan, a sanctuary for those who wander far from home,” Naling explained, appearing behind Sharp. Her eyes were bloodshot, clearly from a sleepless night, and she looked utterly exhausted. Surprisingly, however, the usually aloof Naling was now entangled with Abu. Abu was happily climbing and playing on Naling, and the usually cold-blooded Deer Clan woman seemed completely unbothered, even letting the fluffy, annoying tail occasionally brush past her nose.
Sharp, his gaze sharp, broke the silence first, asking, "Miss Naling, you dare to let us wander around here far from the city, yet you're so reluctant to take us into the city? Could it be that something has happened in the city?" His tone was clearly accusatory, and his rhetoric and formatting even deliberately became archaic.
Naling knew, of course, that Sharp was making things difficult for her.
“Mus is relentlessly pursuing you, and rushing into the city will only serve his purposes more… Shenzhen has a large population and is a mixed bag; I alone cannot save you.” She stroked Xiaowen’s hair and said leisurely.
“What if I say I can protect myself?” Sharp retorted.
"Without the people here, you would have been beheaded long ago. How could you protect yourself? You've gotten to where you are today, haven't you? Didn't you rely on the charity of others?" Na Ling's cold words pierced Sharp's soft spot, ruthless and truthful.
"Don't think you're arrogant just because you've mastered a little bit of Radiant Energy. You're still a long way from being able to protect yourself." Na Ling intended to pour this cold water on Sharp until he couldn't stand up straight. "There are only ten people in the Templar Knights who can be considered elites, but even the worst of them can easily raze a small to medium-sized city."
Being good with words is no real skill.
Sharp could only swallow his anger and think.
Yes, I really don't have the strength to challenge Na Ling right now. She was once one of the second-in-command of the Deer Clan's Holy Knights, second only to Mu Si.
Maybe, but sooner or later I'll be able to go toe-to-toe with you.
“However…” Na Ling suddenly paused, then put her hands behind her back and looked at Sharp with great interest, her meaning clear.
"Perhaps I can find some time to teach you how to use it—"
After saying that, Na Ling turned around arrogantly, her back to Sharp, as if to show him her nobility and self-respect.
Sharp was overjoyed; this was the opportunity he had long awaited. But he still cautiously asked, "Just maybe?"
He needed to ascertain whether the promise was reliable, because he had lost count of how many times he had seen similar glimmers of hope, only to have them all vanish into thin air.
"I'll give you a chance to take a test this afternoon. Whether you want to go further or not is up to you—" Na Ling said this and then walked away with a mischievous grin on her face.
The sharp-eyed Sharp noticed that Abu was hiding behind Naling and whispering in her ear from time to time, as if he was plotting something.
This guy--
"Let's leave it at that for now," Sharp thought to himself.
There are still many things about my health that need to be addressed...
