"What do you want to know?"

The contemptuous gaze lingered on his face; even a fleeting glance was enough to send chills down one's spine.

A strong killing intent could be felt from that cold gaze. Although he had a slight smile on his face, he did not look very kind or approachable.

The smile on her face suddenly froze, gradually vanishing, and was replaced by a solemn expression.

"I feel that Your Majesty the Empress Dowager has changed a lot since we last met. You used to be very kind to me, so why have you become so distant now?"

"When they saw me, it was as if they saw a plague."

"Is the rumor outside true? Has the Empress Dowager been doing something unknown to others?"

"Shut up! How dare you say such things!"

The atmosphere in the air suddenly dropped to freezing point, as if we were in a bottomless ice cave.

The eldest princess lowered her head timidly, not daring to resist in any way. She only glanced at the Empress Dowager out of the corner of her eye, sensing that although she appeared calm on the surface, she seemed to be very flustered inside.

There was always a hint of panic in his eyes and brows, as if he had something to worry about.

"Your Majesty, I was just asking casually, so please don't be too angry."

She opportunistically found a slick job and then slunk out of the room.

As soon as she stepped out of the room, she saw a dashing young man standing not far away, staring intently into her eyes, his gaze carrying a deep meaning.

He was dressed in exotic clothing, and the exotic style he exuded made him even more strikingly handsome and lonely.

Perhaps because he was born into a different race, he looked much taller and more imposing with dark skin, which only added to his lonely, masculine aura.

Especially his jet-black eyebrows, which seemed to have been painted with ink, and his bold eyes, though somewhat unruly, were surprisingly beautiful.

"Didn't I tell you not to come along? You're so annoying, always following me around."

"I've been in the borderlands for so many years, can't I even go back to the Central Plains by myself? Can't you just let me have some peace and quiet by myself?"

When she saw the young man in front of her, her eyes were filled with furious anger, and she wished that this brat would disappear from her sight as soon as possible.

“You traveled all this way without even telling me, of course I had to come see you. You haven’t given me a single child all these years.”

"Don't forget that you were a product of a political marriage back then, so don't try anything funny with me."

“You are my wife now. Even if you want to escape my grasp, it’s impossible.”

He wore a simple, honest smile, completely unaware of the disgust that emanated from his eyes and brows.

With a half-smile on her face, she looked him up and down, a bold idea surfacing in her mind.

"Afan, it seems you've liked me all these years. But to prove your sincerity, would you be willing to do something for me? If you're willing to do one thing with me, I'll grant you all your requests once it's done. If you ask me to give birth to a whole house full of your children, I'll be willing to do anything."

Seeing his beloved woman throwing herself into his arms with a shy expression, he was instantly overjoyed and lost all reason. He grabbed the beauty in his arms and hugged her tightly.

She kissed him hard on the face without thinking, and all the joy in her heart surged up at once.

“My dear princess, do you know how long I’ve been waiting for this day? It’s been so hard to get you to change your mind. In the short five years since you came to the borderlands, you’ve never given me a kind look! Other people’s children are already crawling all over the place, while I’m still a bachelor.”

"Go ahead and tell me. As long as what you ask for isn't too outrageous, I'll definitely help you if I can do it. But you have to promise me that you'll give me a bunch of kids, or I won't help you."

He spoke his mind defiantly, his sharp eyes like those of a nightingale soaring through the night sky.

The eldest princess nodded slightly. The moment their eyes met, how could they not each have their own thoughts?

She revealed a charming smile, wrapped her arms around his neck, and her smile deepened.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely agree! And this is as easy for you as taking something greedily. You're quick and agile, so you absolutely have to get this for me."

"Otherwise, I really can't sleep at night, I can't eat, and I can't sleep soundly."

He stared at him with his bright, piercing eyes, and a surge of curiosity welled up inside me.

He really couldn't understand what this golden-branched beauty had to worry about.

"You, a golden branch and jade leaf, grew up in this palace since childhood. Is there anything you can't see?"

She looked at the simpleton in front of her with a half-smile, half-crying expression, and reached out to poke his nose hard.

"You're really stupid. This thing is in his stepmother's room."

"Just go to his and the Empress's room tonight and see if there is any light blue powder. If there is, you'd better bring it to me."

"I suspect that many of the previous murders, including those from more than 20 years ago, are related to this Empress Dowager!"

He felt a chill run down his spine, his legs went weak, and he almost collapsed to the ground.

"No, no, no, I dare not go. If I get caught, I'll be dead."

He immediately waved his hands repeatedly, his previous high aspirations completely gone.

He didn't want to risk his life for this, especially since he was only in his early twenties.

My face immediately darkened, and my expression became extremely unpleasant.

"Why are you unwilling now? Fine, then leave now. What's the point of coming all this way to find me?"

"Since you've already said all that, what else is there for me to say..."

She stood up with an air of nonchalance, about to leave, when, sure enough, a pair of strong hands grabbed her wrists tightly the next second.

Her limp body suddenly fell into his warm embrace.

You could see the deep love in those eyes; it was almost overflowing from them.

"Let go of me! Why are you holding me like that?"

"My dear aunt, I'll go, okay? If you go by yourself now, wouldn't that be like sending yourself to your death?"
