Mr. Zhongli, we can't slack off anymore!
Chapter 93 May the Wind God Protect You
The surging crowd of hillocks scattered the marching procession.
The horses neighed in alarm, broke their ropes, and scattered in all directions, leaving the supplies they were transporting lying on the ground.
The elemental reaction between ice and fire repelled wave after wave of attacks from the Hilichurls, and also caused the surrounding temperature to rise.
The Hilichurls seemed to have lost their minds, charging at them like mad dogs.
Their physical strength and combat ability have been greatly improved.
"Back off!" Diluc stood in front of Kaeya, using Wolf's End to block the Hilichurl's heavy attack.
A rock pillar rose from the ground and knocked down the Hilichurl.
"Thank you." Diluc had barely finished speaking when an arrow flew past his ear. It was Kaeya who used his sword to deflect it from its path; the arrow was originally heading straight for Diluc's forehead.
The traveler frowned as he looked in the direction from which the arrow had come.
First, the Hilichurls appear to have premeditatedly attacked the convoy from the fog.
Second, the Hilichurls' vision is not affected by the fog.
Third, the Hilichurls' strength has increased dramatically. Each one is like a regional legend, and even Kaeya and Diluc, who possess the Vision of God, find it difficult to withstand them.
Conclusion: The Hilichurls of Mondstadt are under control, and the controller must be related to this dense fog.
If Mondstadt truly has demons, then their characteristics would likely include releasing mist, controlling Hilichurls, enhancing their combat power, and creating humanoid phantoms.
Among the Hilichurls it controls, there are no Abyss Mages... Could it be that the species it can currently control have intellectual limitations?
Let's call it the Demon God of Mist for now.
I really hope this support character can be added to the gacha pool. I really need this one.
The Hilichurls' arrows pierced the traveler's shield once again.
As the rock shield shattered, Kaeya pulled the traveler behind her to avoid the explosive attack: "Do you need my help, miss?"
You've already helped...
The traveler felt utterly helpless.
If we don't go all out, many people might die.
The screams of the knights in the mist were incessant, but the voices of mutual encouragement and support rose above all else.
She looked up at Kaiya in front of her; beads of sweat were dripping onto his shoulders, his chest heaving, and he looked exhausted.
Sensing the traveler's worried gaze, he turned back and smiled at her, pretending to be indifferent.
This must be what Mondstadt calls chivalry.
If you go all out, a lot of trouble will definitely come your way.
I was hoping to find a quiet place to rest, but it seems I won't have the time.
Rock element light particles diffuse outward from the traveler's body, intertwining with the mist.
The knight, separated from the main force, collapsed to the ground, and the Hilichurl mob's club was about to fall on him.
"May the wind god protect me." He closed his eyes and awaited death to take him away.
The wooden stick struck the rock.
boom.
The knight opened his eyes and found himself surrounded by rock element.
He wasn't the only one.
All the knights discovered the defenses on their bodies.
"We can't hold out for long, let's finish this quickly," the traveler told Kaiya.
“Miss Traveler is truly a hidden gem, like the Stormbringer of Mondstadt, with a rich filling concealed within.” A sly glint flashed in his eyes.
The traveler stared at him without saying a word.
Hundreds of rocky ridges erupted from the ground, utterly defeating the Hill Crows.
Then a giant rock fell from the sky and pinned the Hilichurl to the ground, rendering it unable to move for a moment.
Everyone present stood there, stunned.
Kaiya's smile froze on her face.
"Alright. What did you just say?" the traveler asked.
She had just used elemental power to cover the ground and a certain area of the air.
By assessing the elemental power of the demon god on the Hilichurls, members of the Knights of Favonius are selected and shielded.
They then used rock ridges and boulders to inflict rock wounds on the Hilichurls, restricting their movement.
All of these actions required her to concentrate fully and consumed most of her elemental power.
"N-nothing?" Kaiya smiled awkwardly.
Fortunately, she wasn't an enemy.
"Are you injured?" the traveler asked him.
“Thank you for your concern. Not at the moment,” he replied.
"We must hurry, I can't suppress them for long," the traveler said.
She hadn't spoken yesterday, and having expended a lot of elemental energy today, she was so tired that she unconsciously put on a stern face.
The fog is too thick; using rock element like this is a waste of time.
Simply getting the knights back safely isn't enough... the supplies on the ground are the lifeblood of the people of Mondstadt.
We must find a way to dispel the fog.
If I had wind element...
Oh, right, the idol.
That's troublesome. If they see me using a fake Geo Eye and also using Anemo, I won't just be a member of the Tidebringer faction anymore.
I am an outsider who happened to arrive in Mondstadt during the rampage of the demons.
Anyone with a modicum of sense will be wary of me.
Human life is the most important thing; secrecy comes second.
The traveler made up his mind.
Clearing the battlefield in the fog is no easy task, as the positions of Hilichurls and supplies cannot be seen.
The knights could only search for things blindly.
Fortunately, the recovered horses and supplies will sustain Mondstadt for a while. The Hilichurls have also largely lost their fighting ability; as long as their masks are broken, they break free and run away.
It's not that anything on the masks controls them. Rather, the Hilichurls don't want to reveal their true faces, and when their masks are damaged or fall off, they have only one thought: to cover their faces.
"Elisa?" a knight called out into the mist.
“Is that you, Sid?” A knight was led into the depths of the mist.
"How did my sister escape? Don't go!" A knight ran after the figure in the mist.
"Stay where you are! They're illusions!" Kaeya shouted in the fog, but it was too late; several members had already run into the fog.
“I’ll go find it, you go back to Mondstadt.” Diluc whistled, and an eagle landed on his shoulder and flew into the fog at his command.
“I’ll go with you.” The traveler knew that the dark figure was different from the Hilichurls.
“Okay.” Diluc said and entered the fog.
Kaeya glanced at the convoy carrying supplies and Diluc's retreating figure, then took a deep breath: "Follow my orders, return to Mondstadt."
"I'll stay with him, everything will be fine," the traveler reassured him.
"Then I'll trouble you. I'll treat you to drinks when we get back to Mondstadt."
"Ah."
"That guy... never mind, it's nothing, just be careful."
"I'll be fine as long as I can drink the wine you're offering," the traveler said with a slight smile before disappearing into the mist.
"May the wind god protect you, Miss Lu Ren," Kaiya's voice sounded from behind.
She listened to Diluc's footsteps and followed after him.
A gentle breeze ruffled the traveler's hair.
wind?
got windy?
A Cecilia flower was carried by the wind to the traveler's hand.
The wind dispersed the fog, guiding the traveler along a path.
At the end of the road is a statue of the wind god.
Yes, you need to learn the wind element first to disperse the fog.
She ran towards the statue and reached out her hand.
Fingertips touching.
Warm and soft.
A small green cloak, a bard's harp...
Barbatos, the god of wind, descended from the sky, his fingertips touching the traveler's.
“I’ve been waiting for you for a long time, traveler from another world…” he smiled gently.
