Mr. Zhongli, we can't slack off anymore!
Chapter 2 Rock Element Resonance
After a two-second standoff, the traveler realized something was wrong and hurriedly let go, explaining, "I was daydreaming."
Zhongli took off his coat and handed it to the traveler: "I understand. You just encountered a vicious person, so it's understandable that you're afraid." He mistakenly thought the traveler's behavior was due to fear.
"Yes, yes!" The traveler nodded vigorously, trying to cover it up.
"Don't worry, I'll handle any monsters we encounter on the road." He smiled gently, reassuring everyone.
"Thank you for your trouble." The traveler gave a stiff, fake smile.
On the way, the traveler from another world vomited up all the ink in his belly and finally arrived at the Seven Gods statue in Dihua Island.
"I didn't realize how big this statue was until I saw it with my own eyes," the traveler exclaimed.
The statue is about 6 or 7 meters tall and about 2 meters wide. At the very top of the pillar is a stone carving of the rock god Morax, which is not visible from close up. To get a closer look, you have to climb up the statue, but since the main figure is right next to you, travelers feel awkward about making any small movements towards it…
"Are there any poems describing statues of gods in other worlds?" Zhongli asked.
"Perhaps there is? But I am not very knowledgeable and know little. I will have to learn more from Mr. Zhongli after I arrive in Liyue." She made a polite remark, trying to brush it off.
"Okay. Anytime is fine."
The traveler approached the statue and placed his palm on the stone pillar.
In that instant, countless particles of rock element surrounded her and entered her body.
"It seems the statue responded to you. This is the first time I've seen this before. Perhaps that traveler also obtained the power of the rock element in this way." Zhongli raised his hand and stroked his chin, deep in thought.
"Hmm, touching the statue allows me to use the elemental power corresponding to it. I didn't expect it to go so smoothly." The traveler felt the elemental power flowing through his blood.
She tried to gather her strength, and the rock element light particles gathered in her palm. The strange feeling, which could not exist in reality, made her feel somewhat dazed.
Was what happened here real? She had this doubt.
The light emanating from the rock in the palm grew increasingly blinding. The traveler, mimicking the way Luminosity used her elemental power, shouted, "Ha!"
After the light went out, three small stones fell to the ground from the center of the light source.
……
The evening breeze blew by, but it couldn't blow away the awkwardness of the traveler from another world. His momentary extroversion led to a life of isolation.
"Hmm, not bad. It's truly astonishing." He nodded in approval.
The traveler couldn't immediately tell whether Mr. Zhongli was being sarcastic or offering genuine praise, because his tone was so calm and firm.
The traveler blushed, lowered his head, clasped his hands together, and bowed deeply to Zhongli: "Mr. Zhongli, please forget everything that happened tonight, please, and don't tell anyone..."
“Alright. But talent varies from person to person. Some people can master it through hard work. Don’t be discouraged.” Zhongli picked up a small pebble made of traveler’s gathered rock element and examined it carefully: “Some things are not as they appear on the surface.”
"Could it be that this is not an ordinary stone?" the traveler asked eagerly.
Could it be that I do have some talent?
"In my opinion, it's just an ordinary stone." Zhongli didn't casually discard the stone in his hand, but instead put it into his pocket.
"Mr. Zhongli, you don't need to worry about my feelings, just throw it away quickly," the traveler said dejectedly.
With his elemental power at such a low level, he can forget about traveling to various countries. Even if he tries to get into Fontainebleau to perform magic, he'll be reported by the audience for "maliciously throwing stones at them."
“Elemental power is something very few people can use, so it’s quite rare for a traveler to be able to throw pebbles out of thin air,” Zhongli comforted him.
"Is this a good thing? When a Hilichurl attacks me, if I throw stones at it, won't it laugh itself silly? But if I encounter a treasure-hunting group, won't I get beaten up even worse if I throw stones at them?" The traveler became pessimistic.
Logically speaking, after transmigrating, one should be given some special skill to survive, right? Isn't this just being thrown into another world to die?
"Don't rush, young lady. You've only just received the elemental power and haven't honed it yet. Rock element emphasizes form, so next time you use it, try to visualize its shape in your mind; that should help." He patiently offered his advice.
“That makes sense. The Rock God must be right.” The traveler used her elemental power again, imagining a rock spear in her mind.
This time, the particles composed of rock element were even more dazzling. Within the light, shadows in the shape of rock spears appeared. As the light faded, two-meter-long rock spears appeared in the air.
"It worked!" The traveler looked up, his eyes filled with surprise.
A mere elemental force to handle!
"Watch out!" Zhongli strode over.
Snapped--
Zhongli grasped the traveler's hand, and before she could react, the rock element in his palm combined with her rock element particles through her hand.
The rock spear, which had somehow fallen to within a meter of the traveler, hovered in mid-air. Guided by the rock element within him, the rock spear slowly sank into the soil.
Withdrawing his hand, Zhongli warned the traveler: "Formable rock elements will eventually return to the earth. If you don't use some elemental power to keep them suspended in the air, they will fall down just like before."
"Oh, I see..." The traveler thought that Mr. Zhongli had saved him twice since he first appeared, and since he had no way to repay him, he might as well offer himself to him.
But she just thought about it.
“This level of power is already quite impressive. Let’s stop here for today.” He reminded them, “We need to hurry on our journey; it’s almost dawn.”
"Ah."
The sky turned red in the distance; the night was about to end.
"I can use elemental power now, so driving the teleportation anchor shouldn't be a problem anymore." The traveler kept thinking about the teleportation anchor. In the game, the protagonist's stamina recovers quickly, but in reality, walking around Teyvat all night leaves your legs, back, and feet sore.
"What do you mean by teleportation anchor point?" Zhongli asked, puzzled.
"It looks a lot like a pillar... Eh? Don't you know what a teleportation anchor is...?" The traveler realized that people on the Teyvat continent didn't seem to use the more convenient teleportation anchors to transport goods... Could it be that people here can't even see teleportation anchors?
“I have never heard of it,” Zhongli replied.
"Oh, I see. If I encounter it, I'll let you know." The traveler skipped over the topic.
In the game, teleportation points are merely tools to facilitate player use, just as idols can only resonate with the player-controlled protagonist.
"Judging from the name, is it a convenient mode of transportation?" he asked.
"Yes, you could say that. If even you don't know, I probably won't be able to find it either... It seems I'll have to continue hiking to Liyue Harbor." The traveler sighed.
She feared that telling Zhongli about the existence of something unseen on this continent might cause panic, just as she couldn't tell him she came from a higher world that created this world.
The disasters, heroes, countless tragedies and comedies here are all written by the game developers. A plot without any ups and downs cannot capture people's hearts; to gain attention and generate discussion, these characters must undergo countless hardships.
In a sense, the suffering is deliberately designed to please the players.
If the characters in the game learned the truth, how would they treat the players and the creators?
"Don't worry. I have a way." Zhongli raised his hand and manipulated the power of rock element to envelop the two of them.
In the blink of an eye, the two appeared at the summit of Tianheng Mountain.
"Geo element can be used like that! Yeah, you once used this method to save Xiao from the Abyss of Rock!" the traveler exclaimed excitedly. That game cutscene was said to have made the man before him "show off for several versions while leaning against his clothes."
"It's not the power of rock; it's a kind of celestial technique that all the celestials of Liyue can use," Zhongli explained.
“I understand!” the traveler said.
Forget HD Blu-ray! Forget glasses-free 3D! Nothing compares to seeing it with your own eyes! It's so cool!
At this moment, the traveler realized that the surrounding scenery was not Liyue Harbor, and asked, "Aren't we going to Liyue Harbor?" She was a little worried that she might have said something wrong, and that Zhongli wanted to take her to a secluded place and then eliminate her.
"It's sunrise time, it would be a real shame to miss it. Look, that's Liyue Harbor over there." Zhongli pointed down the mountain.
Following the direction Zhongli pointed, the traveler saw the most bustling commercial port in all of Teyvat.
As the sun slowly rises and the morning light spills onto the ground, Liyue Harbor is breathtakingly beautiful.
"Wow! How beautiful!" The traveler's attention was completely drawn to the beautiful scenery.
"Watch your step," Zhongli kindly reminded him. A smile appeared on his face as he was pleased that Liyue Harbor, which he was so proud of, could be praised so highly by people from another world.
“Hmm.” The traveler nodded, glancing at Zhongli. He was equally captivated by the scenery of Liyue Harbor, a slight smile playing on his lips.
