Chapter 91 The Mouth of the Abyss
Just as everyone was celebrating their narrow escape, a massive vortex suddenly appeared in the center of the space. The vortex slowly rotated, emanating a mysterious and powerful aura, as if connecting to another world.
The smiles on everyone's faces froze instantly, and their eyes all turned to the vortex, their hearts filled with doubt and unease.
What exactly is this vortex? Where does it lead?
The vortex spun slowly, emitting a ghostly blue light, like a gaping maw of an abyss, devouring the surrounding light and everything in its path.
Everyone held their breath, watching this sudden and strange phenomenon; a tense atmosphere filled the air.
Ye Yunjian broke the silence first, slowly approaching the vortex, his deep eyes gleaming with a probing light.
"What is this?" Lin Yao's voice trembled slightly, and she subconsciously gripped the hilt of the sword in her hand.
Nie Hanshan scratched his head and said in a muffled voice, "It looks like a teleportation portal."
Gu Ling's face was pale, and her voice trembled as she asked, "Won't it be very dangerous?"
Fairy Qingyu shook her head slightly, her expression solemn. "It's hard to say, but such a strange phenomenon is probably extraordinary."
Mo Chen walked to Ye Yunjian's side, carefully observed the vortex, and pondered, "This vortex contains powerful spatial power. If we rashly enter, we will probably be torn apart by the spatial turbulence."
Zi Ling's eyes widened, and she asked curiously, "Then what should we do?"
Ye Yunjian frowned and reached into the vortex. A strong suction force came from him, which startled him.
He quickly withdrew his hand, stared at the crowd, and said in a deep voice, "This is an unknown challenge, but we must explore it."
His tone was firm, and his eyes revealed a resolute determination.
The group looked at each other, their hearts filled with fear, but Ye Yunjian's determination inspired them.
Lin Yao was the first to step forward and said firmly, "I'll go with you!"
Nie Hanshan laughed heartily, "What's there to be afraid of? Fortune favors the bold, count me in!"
Gu Ling hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and said, "I...I'll go too!"
Fairy Qingyu smiled slightly, "In that case, I will go along as well."
Mo Chen and Zi Ling nodded in agreement.
Ye Yunjian took a deep breath, his eyes flashing with determination.
He took a step and slowly walked towards the vortex.
The crowd followed closely behind, getting closer and closer to that unknown fate.
"Are you ready?" Ye Yunjian asked in a deep voice.
The crowd nodded silently, gripping their weapons tightly.
Without further hesitation, Ye Yunjian leaped into the whirlpool.
The others followed suit and disappeared into the eerie blue light.
"Wait for me..." Zi Ling's voice echoed at the edge of the vortex, and was then swallowed up.
The eerie blue light engulfed Ye Yunjian's vision, and after a dizzying spin, he crashed heavily to the ground.
A cold sensation came from the ground. He struggled to get up, only to find that the surroundings were shrouded in thick fog, so thick that he couldn't see his own hand in front of his face.
The biting cold seeped into his skin, making him shiver involuntarily.
Ye Yunjian's heart sank; the world beyond the teleportation portal was even more bizarre than he had imagined.
"Lin Yao! Nie Hanshan! Gu Ling!" He called out his companions' names, his voice echoing in the mist, but received no response.
Only hollow echoes remained, as if mocking his helplessness.
A wave of loneliness washed over him. He gripped the sword tightly, feeling the coldness of the metal, trying to dispel the fear in his heart.
Suddenly, a gust of cold wind swept in, accompanied by a piercing whistling sound.
Ye Yunjian's alarm bells rang. He turned around abruptly and saw several blurry figures rushing out of the mist, carrying a nauseating stench.
They resemble ghosts, their bodies radiating an eerie green light, their sharp claws gleaming with a cold light.
Ye Yunjian drew his longsword without hesitation, and the blade emitted a crisp humming sound.
He skillfully dodged the monster's attacks, his sword flashing, cutting through the mist and leaving trails of silvery white.
The monster's movements were bizarre and swift, constantly changing its attack methods, sometimes pouncing, sometimes scratching, and sometimes spitting out green venom.
Ye Yunjian gradually felt his strength waning. While fending off the monster's attacks, he anxiously searched for his companions.
"Yun Jian, be careful!" A familiar voice came from the mist, and then a dazzling white light pierced the darkness, striking a monster that was about to ambush Ye Yun Jian.
The monster let out a shrill scream and vanished in a cloud of green smoke.
Ye Yunjian looked in the direction of the sound and saw Lin Yao's figure emerge from the mist. She held a staff in her hand and her eyes shone with determination.
Lin Yao's appearance rekindled a glimmer of hope in Ye Yunjian's heart.
He took a deep breath, rallied his spirits, and fought alongside Lin Yao.
"These monsters seem to be afraid of light magic," Lin Yao said, waving her staff. "I'll hold them off; you find a chance to break through!"
Ye Yunjian nodded. He understood that now was not the time to be reckless. He needed to find other companions as soon as possible in order to survive in this strange world.
He swung his sword to drive back a monster, then said to Lin Yao, "Be careful!"
After saying that, he turned and ran into the depths of the mist.
Lin Yao stayed behind, using light-based spells to block the monster's attack and buy time for Ye Yunjian.
From within the mist came a deep roar, unlike the previous eerie shrieks; this voice was deeper and more resonant…
It's terrifying.
Lin Yao's expression changed. "Yun Jian, be careful!"
Ye Yunjian ran wildly through the mist, and Lin Yao's reminder made him shudder.
He abruptly stopped, turned to face the direction from which the sound came, gripped his longsword tightly, the blade emitting a low hum, as if responding to his tense emotions.
The thick fog obscured his vision, but he could feel a powerful sense of oppression rapidly approaching, and the air was filled with a stench that made him want to vomit.
"Sword Condensation!" Lin Yao's voice came again, tinged with anxiety.
Before Ye Yunjian could respond, he heard a whooshing sound and instinctively rolled to the side, dodging a fierce attack.
He steadied himself and finally saw the attacker's appearance clearly.
It was a gigantic monster, even more ferocious and terrifying than the ghosts we had encountered before.
Its body was covered in hard scales that shimmered with an eerie green light. Its two blood-red eyes, like two will-o'-the-wisps, stared intently at Ye Yunjian, and it let out low growls that sent chills down one's spine.
"Lin Yao, come over here!" Ye Yunjian shouted.
He knew that he could not fight this powerful monster alone.
Lin Yao quickly appeared beside him. The two stood back to back, encouraging each other. Their eyes met with trust, and this bond in the midst of danger made them feel at ease, and the oppressive atmosphere around them eased slightly.
