Chapter 9 [Jarvis]'s Birth
Three months have passed in the blink of an eye.
Supercomputing Center.
The recruitment process was completed long ago. After screening by headhunting firms and personal interviews by Jiang Chen, a total of fifteen hardware engineers were selected to be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the supercomputing center's equipment.
Even with shift work, there are at least ten engineers on duty every day during the day.
However, now, everyone has been driven out by Jiang Chen, leaving only Jiang Chen in the huge supercomputing center.
Through the brainwave access device, lines of code are input into the supercomputer.
Millions of lines of code, even using traditional mainstream programming languages, is a super-large project that requires the combined efforts of tens of thousands of programmers to complete, and it also puts a huge burden on the server.
Moreover, the Jarvis AI uses a more efficient and concise programming language invented by Tony Stark himself, which is thousands of times more efficient than traditional languages such as C and Java.
Given the current level of technology on Earth, only supercomputers with astonishing computing power can handle such a massive amount of computation.
Of course, if one could obtain an auxiliary optical computer from space, it would be entirely possible to easily support an artificial intelligence.
However, on Earth today, apart from a limited number of people like Hong and Thor, that thing probably only exists in ruins and on the Meteorite Starship.
Given Jiang Chen's current strength and status, obtaining one won't be easy.

As he finished typing the last line of code, Jiang Chen took a deep breath and pressed the 'Start' button.
A deep, rumbling sound rang out, a sign that the computer was operating at its maximum capacity.
With thousands of chips operating at their limits simultaneously, the resulting high temperatures cause the cooling fans to run at maximum power, making the noise level quite high.
Although it was a bit noisy, Jiang Chen didn't pay much attention to these minor details and focused all his attention on the display screen in front of him.
I waited for several minutes.
Suddenly, a synthesized voice rang out: "Hello, Master! Jarvis is at your service!"
With this sound, a robot image appeared on the screen, waving at Jiang Chen.
"I forgot to set a name..." A thought flashed through Jiang Chen's mind.
The name 'Jarvis' was already set in the code.
Jiang Chen did not modify this piece of code.
However, the name itself doesn't matter. Since it hasn't been changed, calling it 'Jarvis' is perfectly fine.
"Jarvis, execute the self-check procedure," Jiang Chen ordered.
Jarvis's codebase is too massive, making manual inspection virtually impossible, especially given Jiang Chen's lack of intention to share this technology with others.
However, as a mature artificial intelligence, Jarvis has comprehensive capabilities, and it can easily perform the task of inspecting its own code.
"Yes, Master. Based on the current computing power of the device, the self-test process is expected to take ten minutes," Jarvis said, and a progress bar immediately appeared on the monitor, slowly moving forward.
Jiang Chen was a little nervous, but he forced himself to calm down and wait patiently.
Ten minutes felt like an eternity.
When the progress bar finally reached the end, Jarvis's voice sounded again: "Self-check complete. Three anomalies were found and have been repaired. The anomaly log has been recorded."
"Show the log." Jiang Chen ordered Jarvis to bring up the log. After glancing through it a few times and confirming that it wasn't a serious problem and had indeed been perfectly fixed without any hidden dangers, Jiang Chen finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"From now on, you will be in charge of all the equipment here. Anyone other than me who attempts to access the database must immediately block access and warn me. Also, do not reveal your presence to anyone other than me." Jiang Chen issued his first order.
Inside the supercomputing center, there are no weapons or anything like that, but there are quite a few cameras.
All channels are also electronically controlled.
With Jarvis watching, any attempt by the outsourced staff to steal secrets from the database will be detected immediately.
As for what to do after it's discovered, we'll talk about that after it happens.
“Yes, Master.” Jarvis agreed without hesitation.
Artificial intelligence is completely obedient to its master.
This is deeply ingrained in Jarvis's core code, and even Jarvis's own self-checking program does not have permission to modify it.
"Master, may I connect to the internet to collect information and enrich my database?" Jarvis made a request.
Artificial intelligence strengthens itself by continuously enriching and expanding its own database.
If it reaches a certain level, and with enough time and a bit of luck, it may transform into intelligent life.
Although Jarvis can only be considered a relatively rudimentary form of artificial intelligence, it still possesses the potential to evolve.
Of course, the limited information available on Earth's networks is far from sufficient for Jarvis to evolve into an intelligent life form.
Jiang Chen did not object, but reminded them: "Connecting to the network is fine, but you can only collect publicly available information. Without my permission, you are not allowed to infiltrate or attack encrypted servers, and you are not allowed to expose your existence."
Jiang Chen knew that at least Hong and Thor must have auxiliary intelligence.
If they possess such capabilities, other powerful individuals or high-ranking members of various factions may also have auxiliary AI.
Whether it's more advanced than Jarvis is still uncertain, but Jiang Chen doesn't want to take any risks.
If Jarvis does something that is discovered by other people's AI, it would be pointless to offend them.
“Yes, Master,” Jarvis replied.
Jiang Chen suddenly remembered something and asked, "Jarvis, how do you feel about this computer now?"
"The chips are somewhat outdated, and there are some minor issues with the node deployment. However, the overall computing power is barely sufficient, and an upgrade would be ideal," Jarvis said confidently. "Based on the information I've gathered online, combined with the publicly available parameters and prices of the most advanced products, a renovation costing 18.5 billion could increase my computing power by 11%. After that, each subsequent 10% increase in computing power would require approximately 30 billion. I already have detailed plans for both of these."
Jiang Chen: "..."
I shouldn't have asked that question!
Thinking about the expenses of the past few months, Jiang Chen suddenly felt a pang of pain in his heart.
Even after we enter the space age, Earth's currency will be worthless.
But that was many years later.
"Ahem, let's talk about the upgrade later. Once I have the money, I'll give you a preliminary makeover." Jiang Chen casually made a promise, then immediately changed the subject: "You should familiarize yourself with the information about this world as soon as possible. After a while, I'll give you a mission."
