Liu Nanjia couldn't figure out the answer, and didn't care how Song Chen fed the chickens, so she started making dinner.

Potatoes were a pleasant surprise; she hadn't forgotten that she'd also dug up some winter bamboo shoots today.

I immediately gathered a few bamboo shoots and, while they were still fresh, stewed them into a light-flavored winter bamboo shoot soup.

I also made a dry-fried bamboo shoot dish with pork belly.

Liu Yanxi and Liu Sirou exclaimed that it was delicious and said they would go to the mountain to dig for it in the future.

As for the potatoes, at Song Chen's insistence, they were fed to the chicken for two days.

Two days later, seeing that it was still lively and energetic, they finally agreed to let Liu Nanjia give it a try.

Liu Nanjia finally got permission and eagerly picked up a piece and put it in her mouth.

The familiar taste moved her so much that she almost burst into tears.

This left Song Chen, who was watching her intently from the side, completely puzzled.

'Is this stuff really that delicious?'

I picked up a piece and put it in my mouth. Because it was steamed, it was soft and moist.

The taste is okay, but it's not particularly delicious.

Seeing Song Chen's puzzled expression, Liu Nanjia, a potato lover since her past life, became furious.

"It's just steamed, no seasoning. How can you expect noodles to taste good if they're just plain?"

He immediately picked out several, indicating that he wanted to show Song Chen his skills.

Liu Nanjia thought for a moment and chose two simple and delicious dishes to make.

I first made a potato and egg pancake. I cut the potatoes into thin strips, cracked in two eggs, and added some flour.

After mixing well, add some salt and other seasonings to taste.

Then place them in an oiled pan, spread them out into small round cakes, and fry over low heat until golden brown on both sides.

There were two more, which she cut into small pieces, sprinkled with oil, added her own homemade barbecue seasoning, and put into the oven.

While it was baking, Liu Nanjia took out another one and stir-fried some shredded potatoes.

So, the others saw Liu Nanjia tinkering in the kitchen for a short while before bringing out three dishes.

Each one smelled wonderful, and was a feast for the eyes, nose, and palate.

Liu Yanxi and Liu Sirou, unaware of the background, simply assumed that their younger sister/older sister had come up with some delicious new recipe.

Song Chen looked at the three items with some surprise, "What were these made of?"

Liu Nanjia nodded proudly, "Try them all."

After eating it, Song Chen was even more surprised.

These three dishes taste so different!

One is sour, spicy, and crunchy;

It's very fragrant when combined with eggs;

There's another one, with a crispy, caramelized exterior and a soft, fluffy interior.

The three dishes were completely different, yet each was delicious in its own way.

Song Chen asked again, uncertainly, "Is this all made of potatoes?"

Liu Yanxi finally understood, "You mean, these three dishes are made with the same thing? It's called a potato? What is a potato?"

Liu Nanjia said smugly, "You guys tell me first whether it tastes good or not."

The three nodded in unison, "Delicious."

Liu Nanjia was finally satisfied. She explained the method to them and also explained to Liu Yanxi what potatoes are.

Of course, they were using the same old rhetoric.

Liu Sirou didn't care much about anything else. She only knew that she still wanted to eat. She couldn't eat the other two spicy dishes, so she ate the thing called "potato and egg pancakes," and there were only two small ones.

"Sister, is there any more?"

The three dishes my sister served were really not many.

Like that little pancake, it was only the size of her palm, and it was gone in two bites.

Looking at the three pairs of longing eyes,

Liu Nanjia shrugged. "That's all. That's all I made."

It's not that she's stingy; she and Song Chen only dug up so much, and they were going to use it as seeds. It wouldn't do to eat it all.

There might not be any more on the mountain; maybe only a small patch has grown there. She's planning to plant them on a large scale.

After explaining it to them, Song Chen and Liu Yanxi, although they also wanted to eat it, both expressed their understanding.

Of course, preserving the seeds is more important.

Liu Sirou blinked and asked, "Sister, does that mean if I dig up more potatoes, I can eat them?"

Liu Nanjia paused for a moment, not expecting that her younger sister's little brain was so quick.

Si Rou has become much more lively lately, and Liu Nanjia certainly doesn't intend to restrain her, nodding and saying:

“Okay, if I can find some new ones, I’ll make them for you. Otherwise, we’ll just have to wait until they grow to maturity. But you can’t go by yourself; you have to come with me or your two older brothers.”

Liu Sirou nodded obediently and immediately dragged Liu Yanxi up the mountain.

Later, he would occasionally pull one of them up the mountain to find potatoes.

The result was that they didn't find any more, but instead dug up some yams, konjac, and other things, as well as some winter bamboo shoots.

The little girl was a bit unhappy.

Liu Nanjia was not disappointed. It was already a miracle that she was able to dig up potatoes on her own mountain that shouldn't have been there.

Otherwise, how could it have been that day that they decided to go up the mountain and suddenly thought of digging for winter bamboo shoots, which led Song Chen to find those potato plants?

"Okay, once we grow them, you can eat as much as you want. Potatoes can be made into many other dishes, and I'll make them all for you from now on."

That's how they managed to calm the little girl down.

These past few days have been filled with all sorts of fuss over potatoes, and tomorrow is Lunar New Year's Eve.
