The other steel materials are mainly used for the ship hull.

The hull is divided into two parts. The part below the waterline has strict requirements to resist torpedo attacks and seawater corrosion. The steel plates in this part are relatively thick, generally between 150 and 230 millimeters, and they are heavier to maintain stability.

As for the part above the waterline, it needs to withstand the impact of waves and withstand possible missile attacks, but in order to avoid shifting the center of gravity upwards, it cannot be too thick, so only high-strength steel with a thickness of 23 to 28 millimeters can be used.

However, the strongest layer is undoubtedly the top layer of steel plate.

This layer needs to withstand the take-off and landing of carrier-based aircraft, and it cannot be too heavy. It must be made of 38 mm thick ultra-high strength deck steel, which no more than five countries in the world can produce.

The deck steel used in the Russian-made AK-27 has a yield strength of up to 700 MPa, and this nickel-chromium alloy steel is also very corrosion-resistant.

When the Varyag returned to port, its exterior was covered in rust, but after polishing, the interior was as shiny as new. That's how amazing it was.

Keep these steel materials for now; they'll be very useful later.
