Corpse Brother: From Calabash Brothers to Corpse Emperor
Chapter 11 Protecting the Fawn
Bai Xiaofei rushed up to the fifth floor, kicked open the door, and the door flew out, crashing heavily onto Professor Mu inside.
Professor Mu was caught off guard and was knocked backward by the door. The test tube in his hand slipped out and hit Yu Xiaojia's teacup dog, "Becky".
"Crack!" The test tube shattered, and the divine potion inside instantly seeped into Becky's body.
Seeing this, Bai Xiaofei rushed into the room and untied the ropes binding Xiao Hui and Yu Xiaojia. He asked, panting,
"Are you guys okay?"
Yu Xiaojia immediately stood up and rushed towards Becky, who was stained with the medicine, calling out with a worried expression:
"Becky! How are you?!"
At this moment, Becky's body began to expand violently. In just a few seconds, its size increased dozens of times, transforming from a small teacup dog into a tall monster.
It stood in the center of the room, its sharp claws scratching the floor, its eyes turning fierce, and its whole body exuding a tremendous sense of oppression.
Bai Xiaofei immediately stepped in front of Yu Xiaojia, raised the spear in his hand, and said nervously:
"Don't come any closer, this thing looks a bit off! Get behind me!"
Yu Xiaojia took a step back in fright, but soon realized that although the mutated Becky looked scary, it still looked at her with gentle eyes and did not show any hostility.
"Becky..." Yu Xiaojia called out tentatively.
The enormous Becky lowered its head, gently nuzzled her hand, and let out a low whimper, as if it were still the loyal little dog she knew.
Seeing this, Bai Xiaofei finally breathed a sigh of relief and lowered his guard.
"Goodness, thank goodness it still recognizes its owner, otherwise we'd probably have to run away by now."
However, the moment they lowered their guard, Professor Mu on the other side gave a sinister laugh.
He stood up, grabbed a bunch of divine potions from the table, and without hesitation, began injecting them into his body one after another.
"You think you can defeat me like this?" Professor Mu's voice was deep and cold. "Just wait and see the power of the God of Knowledge!"
As the drug was injected, his body rapidly swelled, his muscles multiplied, and his clothes were stretched to shreds.
The strangest thing was that his forehead slowly cracked open, and a blood-red third eye actually grew out!
"Hahaha! Power! I feel boundless power!"
Professor Mu laughed loudly, exuding a terrifying aura, and walked step by step toward Bai Xiaofei and the others, causing the ground to tremble.
Luo Heng leaned against a corner on the second floor, straining his ears to listen to the sounds coming from upstairs. He could faintly hear the sounds of fighting and things being smashed.
"It seems Bai Xiaofei and Professor Mu have gotten into a fight." Luo Heng thought to himself.
"Once they're done fighting, I can go up and devour that Eye of Truth! Then my strength will increase by a mile!"
He was feeling smug when he suddenly heard a series of chaotic footsteps and low growls coming from downstairs.
Luo Heng looked down and felt a chill run down his spine—a group of child zombies were surging towards him from the direction of the school gate!
"What's going on with these zombies? Why are they suddenly rushing this way?"
Luo Heng frowned, instinctively wanting to continue feigning death, hoping to escape this calamity. However, the next second, he heard a familiar cry—
"Waaaaah! Uncle! There's a monster! Please save Lulu!"
It's a fawn!
Luo Heng suddenly realized that these little zombie children weren't just passing by; they had been attracted by the deer!
"Damn! This didn't happen in the original story! Where did these zombies come from?!"
Luo Heng felt a surge of panic, then thought:
"Could it be because I scared Little Deer too much just now, causing her to cry so hard that it attracted these zombies?"
Thinking of this, Luo Heng was filled with regret:
"Damn it, I shouldn't have scared Little Deer! Now we're surrounded by zombies, and I have to risk my life to save her!"
He glanced at the little zombie brother rushing towards the lounge, and then heard the little deer's cries growing more urgent. He made a firm decision:
"Forget it, we can't let anything really happen to Xiaolu! If Bai Xiaofei comes back and finds her gone, I'll probably be the first one he chops up!"
He took a deep breath, got up from the ground, his eyes fixed on the child zombies, and clenched his fists tightly.
"Alright, come on! Let's see how I, Luo Heng, deal with you little brats today!"
Relying on the increased power he gained from devouring that zombie brother, Luo Heng charged towards the group of child zombie brothers, knocking them away with almost one punch each.
But soon, he realized something was wrong—
After being knocked away, these child zombies were not seriously injured. Instead, they stood up instantly and charged forward again at an even faster speed!
"Holy crap, this is way too difficult!"
Luo Heng couldn't help but curse. He turned around and saw several little zombies rushing to the door of the rest room and banging on it. Inside, he heard Xiao Lu's terrified cries.
"Little deer, don't be afraid! I'm here!"
Luo Heng gritted his teeth, charged forward, and slammed his shoulder into several small zombies, sending them flying against the wall.
"Boom-"
The little zombies slammed against the wall with a dull thud, then quickly got up and glared fiercely at Luo Heng.
Luo Heng stood at the door of the lounge, blocking the way with his body, and couldn't help but sigh:
"As expected, I'm just an ordinary zombie. The male protagonist can kill them one by one with a single slash, but I've been fighting for ages and still can't kill these little devils!"
The little zombies launched another attack, their speed astonishing, reaching Luo Heng almost in the blink of an eye.
He punched with all his might, knocking away several small zombies that pounced on him, but a few still scratched his arms and back, their sharp claws tearing his skin and drawing out dark red blood.
"hiss--"
Luo Heng gasped in pain, but dared not take a step back.
He knew that once these little zombies broke through his defenses, Little Deer would be finished.
More little zombies surged up from all directions. Luo Heng gritted his teeth, forcibly pressed down on his wound, and suddenly exerted his strength, grabbing all the little zombies in front of him and slamming them to the ground.
"Bang bang bang!"
The floor shook, and the little zombies were thrown to pieces, but they quickly got up again, moving even faster than before, clearly showing no intention of giving up.
Luo Heng leaned against the door of the rest room, sweating profusely as he stared at the little zombie brothers, cursing inwardly:
"These little guys are not only numerous, but they're also incredibly agile! If this keeps up, I think I'm going to be worn down!"
He stared intently at the approaching horde of small zombies, his mind racing, searching for a solution:
"I have to hold out until Bai Xiaofei comes back, otherwise... I'm really going to die here today!"
Luo Heng did his best to guard the door of the rest room, but his wounds multiplied and he bled profusely.
His strength gradually ran out, and the speed of his punches slowed down, while the little zombie brothers pounced on him like madmen.
"Bai Xiaofei, if you don't come soon, I'm really going to die here!"
Luo Heng gritted his teeth and roared, but Lady Luck did not smile upon him, and there was still no one around.
Taking advantage of Luo Heng's moment of exhaustion, the little zombies pounced on him.
He had no strength left to resist; he could only close his eyes, raise his hands to shield himself, and fill his heart with despair.
"Looks like I'm really going to die here this time... Sure enough, it's not easy to pick up the protagonist's stray eggs!"
Just as Luo Heng was bracing himself for the excruciating pain of being torn apart, a sudden numbness shot through his hand. Immediately afterward, a blinding bolt of lightning erupted from his hand!
"Crack!"
A burst of lightning erupted in the corridor, the blinding light instantly engulfing all the little zombies.
They screamed in agony as they were struck by a powerful electric current. Their bodies convulsed a few times before they all collapsed to the ground, turning into charred corpses that emitted a strong, burnt smell.
Luo Heng slowly opened his eyes, but the expected pain did not come.
He looked down and saw that all the little zombies in front of him had turned into charred remains, dead beyond any doubt.
"What is this...?" Luo Heng looked puzzled and slowly raised his hand, only to find a trace of electricity still remaining on his palm.
He blinked, his mind racing, and he suddenly remembered the scene of swallowing the Pikachu zombie:
"Could it be... its ability? Am I going to evolve into Pikachu?"
Thinking of this, he couldn't help but look down and check his clothes and body.
Upon discovering that he was still dressed as the familiar Calabash Brothers, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
"Thank goodness, it's still the Calabash Brothers. I almost got led astray by Bai Xiaofei's fantasy!"
He stood there, glanced at the little zombie brother who had been electrocuted to a crisp, and couldn't help but shake his head:
"These guys are insane! They almost wore me out. Luckily, my lightning saved my life... and electricity is a really good thing!"
He walked to the door of the lounge, listened to the little deer sobbing inside, gently knocked on the door, and said in a bubble-like voice:
"Little one~ If you cry again, I'm coming in~."
The fawn inside stopped crying and asked cautiously:
"If I stop crying, will you leave?"
Luo Heng, panting heavily, staggered to the corner.
He looked down at his wounded body, gritted his teeth, and gave a self-deprecating laugh:
"It's really pathetic. I don't even have the strength to swallow these little zombie brothers."
He glanced around and confirmed that there was no other danger for the time being.
He then slowly squatted down, adjusted his posture, and lay down on the ground in a standard corpse position.
"Bai Xiaofei and the others should be almost done fighting by now..."
Luo Heng closed his eyes, trying to make his breathing weak and his body stiff.
"I'll lie low for a while and catch my breath before they finish fighting."
A burnt smell filled the air. Luo Heng tried his best to relax and silently prayed:
"Main characters, main characters, hurry up and resolve things over there, and don't cause any more trouble. I really can't take it anymore!"
As he thought about it, he couldn't help but give a bitter smile:
"I've actually become more and more skilled at pretending to be a corpse; I guess it's a kind of survival skill..."
He remained motionless in the position of the corpse, quietly waiting for the next move.
