Chapter 97 A Bowl of Fruit Salad

An odd atmosphere lingered between the two of them. Nan Chu was the first to give in. She tossed her hair and muttered, "Anyway, they're not strangers."

Starving, Liu Chaoque was already lost in thought.

She said, "Let's eat first, nothing else."

Then he left.

She snorted, patted her belly, and followed closely behind Liu Chaoque. Their rare moment of harmony lasted until…

"Xiao Chu!" Ning Xiuyuan ran quickly to Nan Chu's side. Liu Chaoque covered his face, another romantic entanglement.

She quickly slipped away to buy food while the two were chatting. There weren't many dishes she wanted at the restaurant at noon, so she went to another side of the street.

Nan Chu forced a smile and adopted a gentle demeanor, like a perfect robot.

But then her stomach growled at an inopportune moment, and her ears turned red. She blushed and fell silent in embarrassment.

Ning Xiuyuan immediately understood, tapped his head, and said, "It's my fault. I was so happy to see you that I let you go hungry. I really shouldn't have done that."

He took out his meal card and said, "Shall I treat you to dinner?"

Liu Chaoque drifted by, holding a sizzling bowl of tomato spaghetti in her hand. The rich aroma instantly filled her nostrils, making her feel even hungrier.

"What do you want to eat?"

"spaghetti."

"what?"

"It's okay, I'll eat whatever you eat."

In the end, both of them lined up in front of the pasta shop.

Ning Xiuyuan said a little embarrassedly, "I just saw someone buy spaghetti, it smells really good."

Sitting at the table, the two fell silent. The sizzling egg cooked on the hot plate, and the spaghetti became firmer on the steaming plate. The only sounds were the tapping of forks on the plate and the soft chewing.

By chance, Liu Chaoque, who was looking for a place to sit down, spotted Xu Wangchuan. He was eating while working, probably dealing with data that was nearing a deadline, or perhaps his supervisor was calling him incessantly.

Anyway, watching his fingers move quickly across the keyboard, the food next to him seemed to get a little cold.

Liu Chaoque didn't disturb his work and silently brushed past him.

"Oh, Xiaoxiao, what a coincidence."

Sure enough, I wonder if these guys have installed a tracking device on her, otherwise why would they be able to detect her every time she gets close to them?

Just now, Xu Wangchuan simply looked up and rubbed his eyes, and saw Liu Chaoque about to leave.

"You seem very busy." Liu Chaoque sat down opposite him. "Will the sound of my eating disturb you?"

"Oh~" He looked at his food as if waking from a dream. "I forgot to eat. It's okay, have a seat."

He shut down his computer, put it aside, picked up his plate, and began to eat.

Only then did Liu Chaoque feel at ease and begin to eat.

However, Liu Chaoque wasn't sure if his food had gotten cold until he finished eating. Xu Wangchuan, who was quickly shoveling rice into his mouth, slowed down when he saw that Liu Chaoque still had a lot of noodles left. As a result, she ate a few more bites and then put down her chopsticks.

He asked, puzzled, "Is this noodle dish not to your liking?"

"I'm just full."

"Oh." Then he sped up again, and by the time she got up to pour out the food, Xu Wangchuan had also finished eating. He took Liu Chaoque's plate and placed it under his own: "I've finished eating, so you don't need to pour out the food."

Liu Chaoque followed closely beside Xu Wangchuan, hesitant to speak, unsure of what to say. Finally, she asked, "Weren't you just working on something on the computer?"

The food on the plates was thrown into the kitchen waste bin, Liu Chaoque's plate was thrown into the box specifically for handling wooden plates, while his was sent to the back kitchen by the conveyor belt.

He looked at her, and Liu Chaoque gave an awkward smile.

"Then I'll go back to my seat."

"Row."

It seems they really need to deal with the files on their computer urgently.

She passed behind the two of them again, carrying her schoolbag. Nan Chu had her head down, her expression unreadable, while the boy was talking animatedly. Judging from the amount of food they had left, it seemed she hadn't eaten enough for lunch.

"You're eating so little?" Ning Xiuyuan asked in surprise when he saw Nan Chu stop eating.

“Yes, small appetite.” She tossed her hair.

"I'll be done eating soon too." I was a little nervous sitting across from my goddess, so I didn't eat much.

The two laughed awkwardly as they headed towards the conveyor belt to receive the bowls and chopsticks. Liu Chaoque, already munching on a piece of sweet melon (a dessert), watched their retreating figures with great interest.

After saying goodbye to Ning Xiuyuan, Nan Chu walked towards Liu Chaoque with small, quick steps, then sat down next to her, behaving awkwardly and glancing at her fruit salad from time to time.

"Is this tasty?" she asked suspiciously. "So many people buy this, why?"

"It doesn't taste good." Liu Chaoque said decisively, "They bought it to replace regular meals and to lose weight. Do you think weight-loss food tastes good?"

"That seems to be true." But then she realized something was off: "But why did you buy some too? I saw you eat."

"I like to take weight loss products after meals, because I need to be full to have the energy to lose weight," she said without changing her expression.

Nan Chu seemed to know she was lying to him: "Then let me try it."

"You want to buy it, it's only a few meters away."

"But this is my first time eating it, I have no experience, will it taste bad?"

"It's not supposed to taste good to begin with. It would be a pleasant surprise if you could make it taste good. Everyone has a first time. You can't let someone else do it for you just because it's your first time. When will you ever take that first step? Besides, it's just food. You can just mix it up and it will taste good. A business wouldn't make something that's already there taste bad. That would ruin their reputation."

Nan Chu was persuaded by her and walked straight to the fruit salad stall.

Then Liu Chaoque watched as she took several pomelos with pith and oranges, added milk, and served them with lots of toppings.

The fruit stand was half full, and a quarter of it was filled with fruit.

She couldn't help but sigh, "You think this is thick porridge?"

"no."

She took a bite, her brows furrowing deeply: "It's so sweet, and the taste is so strange."

"Yeah, all you're eating is food coloring."

Liu Chaoque pointed to the round, shiny beads: "And there are also practical fragrances."

Nan Chu took a few bites but still couldn't get used to the taste. He frowned and struggled to decide. Liu Chaoque sighed and took the bowl of fruit salad with extra toppings: "If you can't eat it, then don't eat it."

"But I also want to eat with you?" she asked coquettishly.

Liu Chaoque shuddered. To put it simply, having Nan Chu's face and acting coquettishly towards her was as terrifying as being in a lovey-dovey relationship with Black Widow.

"Don't be like this." She thought for a moment, "Never mind, come with me, I'll teach you how to buy fruit salad."

"It's so kind of you."

Her face twitched, and she silently thought to herself, "They're probably just used to speaking like this, used to it, used to it."

Habit my ass!

"This grapefruit, you can eat it on its own, but you can't mix it with other fruits, especially with milk, it'll taste really bitter," Liu Chaoque said as he picked up the fruit, his voice a little loud.

"Oh, teaching now?"

Just then, another acquaintance arrived. Zhang Zhuyan moved closer to her and forcefully squeezed in. The two were only separated by a piece of paper. Liu Chaoque only needed to look down to see her teasing eyes.

"Ah."

"Nan Chu, you two have made up again?"

Zhang Zhuyan joined a club this semester, and she's so busy with it that she only knows a little about the gossip in her class.

"Make up?" Liu Chaoque glanced at Nan Chu and then down at the arrogant Zhang Zhuyan: "What a joke, who made up with her?"

“We remain enemies,” Nan Chu said gently.

How could adversaries stand together so harmoniously? Zhang Zhuyan certainly didn't believe it.

At this moment, Nan Chu was only focused on the clips in Liu Chaoque's hand: "Are you done clipping them?"

"Oh~" She weighed the contents of the bowl in her hand and asked Nan Chu, "Do you think that's enough?"

She then turned her attention to the condiment section, seemingly wanting to try their flavors again.

“These are just some side dishes, they’ll keep you full.” She pointed to the taro balls and taro paste: “The taro balls come in different flavors.” She then introduced the flavors represented by each color.

Nan Chu chose yellow, which makes me think she simply likes colors.

"Add less taro paste, it's easy to gain weight, even though it's delicious." Hearing that it would make you gain weight, Nan Chu made a small gesture: "Then add a small spoonful."

"Is it a ladleful or a spoonful?" Zhang Zhuyan chimed in, perhaps finding it amusing as well. "A small spoonful, of course."

"Oh, it's a spoon this big."

"This is too big."

Zhang Zhuyan teased Nan Chu with a smile, and then asked Liu Chaoque to take the spoon and scoop out a large spoonful.

Helpless, Liu Chaoque could only add a little bit, which finally relieved Nan Chu, who was on the verge of tears.

Finally, with the three witnesses present, I bought this bowl of fruit salad for 11 yuan.

After watching Nan Chu eat the fruit salad that Liu Chaoque loved, Zhang Zhuyan asked, "Is it delicious?"

"Well, it's delicious."

After realizing that the person asking the question was not Liu Chaoque, he looked at her with bright, sparkling eyes and said, "I like to eat."

"Well, I don't have a small appetite anymore," Liu Chaoque said casually, sitting on the stool.

"Did you hear everything?"

"I can read lips."

"You're lying to me again."

Nan Chu didn't believe it: "Besides, my back is to you, how can you see my face?"

"So you saw me too?"

His expression remained grumpy.

Zhang Zhuyan said weakly, "Perhaps I should leave?"

The three of them seemed a bit crowded.

"You can leave if you want." She glanced at the time. "I'm leaving too. Are you going to the dorm?"

Zhang Zhuyan said, "Go ahead, where are you going?"

"I'm going to the library to rest."

"How about coming to my dorm?" Nan Chu mustered her courage.

"No, that's too much trouble."

Southern Chu had no choice but to give up.

After the two left, Nan Chu looked at the bowl of fruit salad, touched the syrup on it, and said with disdain, "It really is for people to use for dieting."

But she couldn't bear to throw it away, so she finished the whole bowl of fruit salad, even eating the fruit crumbs stuck to it. She rubbed her stomach, let out a heavy burp, covered her mouth, and her cheeks slowly turned red.
