Welcome to the Misogyny Game

Chapter 74 Who is the pilot?

Saturday arrived quickly. To earn 10 working hours, Liu Chaoque was busy these two days, going to the nursing home on Saturday and taking flight lessons on Sunday.

The nursing home they were going to visit was quite remote, built against the mountain, and had a very good ecological environment.

But Liu Chaoque was also worried about the large number of mosquitoes.

Inside were mostly elderly men and women in their seventies and eighties, who were being pushed out by caregivers to bask in the sun when the weather was nice.

Those with strong bones play chess and practice Tai Chi.

Liu Chaoque and Xu Wangchuan's job was simply to clean up, help push the elderly out to sunbathe, or chat with them.

Liu Chaoque followed the caregiver to tidy up the old ladies' quilts. When the weather was nice, the quilts were often aired out to kill off the mites and leave a sunny smell, making them smell nicer when sleeping at night.

However, the blanket didn't smell particularly good. It didn't matter whether the caregiver cleaned it carefully or not. Even if it was for an elderly person living in the house, if it wasn't ventilated for a long time, the smell would become indescribable.

Perhaps there are very diligent elderly people who keep things clean, but they inevitably have an odor on them, and their blankets will also get some of it.

“We wash these sheets every four days. If the elderly person urinates, we have to change them on the spot,” the caregiver said to Liu Chaoque.

It must be really tough. But aren't all kids like that, except for the strong smell, the age when they can't control their urination, and the fact that they can only express their feelings by crying?

Every night, the mother would get up to feed the baby. Some babies cried frequently and needed to be soothed often.

Suddenly I realized that the elderly are actually easier to take care of.

She looked out the window at the old man who kept asking the caregivers what she was saying, and the old man whose mistakes could only be corrected again and again.

Although as they grow older, they gradually lose their hearing, becoming unable to hear clearly as if through a layer of glass.

They can't handle stimulation; they gradually lose their resilience, and even the slightest stimulation can cause a stroke or mental instability.

An old woman was fighting with her caregiver for a blanket. She felt that she was safe inside the blanket, while the outside was full of monsters. The caregiver tried to persuade her that the blanket was smelly and would be returned to her after airing it out.

The old woman, however, thought she was an utterly wicked person, clinging desperately to the dirty blanket, looking dazed and pitiful.

According to the caregiver who knew the situation, the old lady had suffered a shock that caused her to become like this. She usually just wanted to lie in bed and hug her blanket. The old lady, who had been refined all her life, could endure the dirty bedding in her later years and regarded it as her only salvation.

And sometimes she's perfectly normal; she can cook, she can make dumplings, she's meticulous and serious, just like before.

Because her mental condition was not aggressive, and her family lived nearby, she was allowed to stay there after a series of examinations.

“Grandma.” Liu Chaoque went into the old woman’s room and asked if the caregiver would give her a new quilt before comforting her, “This quilt is sick. It needs the caregiver in the white coat to treat it. Let’s get it treated so it can stay with you.”

"My quilt is sick?" The old lady couldn't quite grasp the situation; reason told her that the quilt was an inanimate object and couldn't possibly be sick.

But Liu Chaoque didn't give her much time to think and began to give examples: "Look at other people's quilts." She pointed to the quilts drying outside: "Aren't they very clean and white?"

Because the sun was so bright, the blankets looked shiny and white to the old lady.

The old lady nodded blankly.

“They are all healthy quilts,” Liu Chaoque concluded. “Because they have all been sunned. In order for your quilt to stay with you longer, you should also let it sun-dry more.”

As she listened, the old lady unconsciously loosened her grip on the smelly blanket.

Liu Chaoque gave the caregiver a look, and the caregiver began to persuade her in the same way as Liu Chaoque.

"We'll bring your quilt back to you as soon as we've finished treating it. Grandma, if you want a quilt, we have some other healthy quilts for you to use."

Grandma protested: "I only want this blanket."

Liu Chaoque smiled and said, "It seems that Grandma really likes this quilt. I wonder if I could hear the story of this quilt and you?"

Her expression was expectant, like a granddaughter waiting for her grandmother to tell her a story.

“Then I’ll tell you…” The old lady was lost in her memories, and the caregiver finally pulled out the smelly blanket.

When the caregiver came over again, Liu Chaoque half-opened the curtain, letting the sunlight shine on the old lady's coat, which seemed to have been brought by the volunteer.

She sat to one side, her expression focused, listening intently to the old lady's rambling. Even though the room was still filled with a somewhat unpleasant smell, Liu Chaoque felt no discomfort whatsoever.

The caregiver smiled: This person seems to have an innate ability to make others feel close to them, without needing to be taught.

Whether the old lady's illness was cured or not, when Liu Chaoque and Mu Li returned, the quilts that had been drying on the railing were finally taken down one by one.

The old lady was too tired, so she said a few words to Liu Chaoque and then fell asleep again. She covered herself with a small blanket, and Liu Chaoque's clothes were neatly folded on the bedside table.

Liu Chaoque did not take it, even though it was one of the few clothes she liked.

Sitting on the bus back, Liu Chaoque thought about buying another one; she really couldn't bear to part with this dress.

It was only then that she realized that things don't necessarily have meaning; it's all about how much they matter to you, like her clothes and her blankets.

Mu Li arrived in the afternoon. By then, Liu Chaoque had already been taken care of by another old lady. He volunteered to take care of another old lady, and his way of taking care of her was to defeat her with chess until she was furious.

He burst into laughter.

Liu Chaoque was really afraid of upsetting the old man so much that he would get sick, but the old man had a very good attitude. Even though he couldn't beat him, he would continue to fight and even started to take back his moves, which made Mu Li feel the shamelessness of humans.

Finally, Mu Li angrily donated a sum of money to the nursing home and developed a profound revolutionary friendship with the old man.

"I'll definitely beat you next time, and you're not allowed to take back your move!" Mu Li declared fiercely.

"Hmph," the old man said.

Liu Chaoque remained silent.

The next day was the weekend, which meant Liu Chaoque's grueling flight class. First, he had to familiarize himself with each keyboard, which was explained one by one, and the effects of pressing it were simulated.

It also explained emergency response methods and the use of parachutes.

Then the practice began. The three of them sat in the helicopter, first watching the instructor operate it, and then they took turns.

Liu Chaoque: !

She held the control pole, extremely nervous.

On the ground, it's one thing, but in the air, it's like accidentally sending an entire plane of people flying away.

She felt her palms getting sweaty.

First it took off, then it hovered in the air, accelerated, decelerated, turned, and circled in an S-shape.

There is no reference point in the sky; everything is a feeling.

While listening to the instructor, Liu Chaoque focused intently on operating the various buttons on the control panel, her mind highly concentrated, until the plane landed safely, at which point she realized she had a terrible headache.

"Siman did a good job, now it's Chen Shuhao's turn." After all three had gone through their turn, the coach let them rest for a bit. It felt so good to be grounded.

A boy who was practicing with Liu Chaoque asked him why he came to learn to fly. Liu Chaoque thought the boy was going to mock him, but he still replied politely, "I was forced to come by life's pressures. My boss gave me a raise, so I came. What about you?"

"I want to be a pilot, I want to fly a fighter jet." Perhaps she misunderstood him.

"Little friend, what do you want to be when you grow up?" the police officer asked a kindergarten child at random.

Liu Chaoque came to the police station again after helping the police arrest a group of human traffickers. Holding the sealed paper, he felt that he could finally achieve financial freedom with this.

"Of course, I'd become a pilot."

Liu Chaoque looked up and saw the policewoman with a look of utter despair.

“Actually, I used to want to be a pilot too.” Zhou Man walked up to Liu Chaoque without anyone noticing.

Liu Chaoque: "Long time no see, Officer Zhou. You've been transferred back from Suzhou?"

"Thanks to you, I'm back again," Zhou Man said with a smile.

However, thinking about what he had just said, Liu Chaoque looked at his police uniform and asked in confusion, "Then why are you a policeman now?"

“Because of my dad.” He sighed. “My dad is an excellent fighter pilot. I’ve admired him since I was little and wanted to be like him when I grew up.”

“My mother is a train attendant. They met on a train. He would take this train every time he went to work, and it just so happened that my mother was on duty at the same time. It was a special fate that made them fall in love and have me.”

“From childhood, being separated more often than together is the norm in our family. But whenever I miss my mother, my grandmother will take me to see her. My father still takes the same train. Those little free train tickets are a rare opportunity for our family to reunite.”

"Unfortunately, later..."

"My father discovered foreign forces. In order to stop them from entering Chinese airspace, my father crashed his plane into that plane. As a result, I lost my father, and my mother lost her lover. All that could be seen on that small train ticket was my mother."

“That day marked their tenth wedding anniversary.” Zhou Man said, “Zhou Man, Zhou Man, all I wanted was the word ‘full,’ but God turned perfection into imperfection.”

“I wanted to be a pilot, but my mother gradually lost interest in her work because of my father’s situation and focused on herself. She prayed that she would not become a pilot.”

"Mom may be selfish, but Mom really doesn't want to lose you again," said young Feng Tiantian.

"I still wanted to be like my dad, but in the end I became a police officer."

“My father protects the safety of the sky, so I will protect the safety of the ground.” Liu Chaoque couldn’t help but burst into tears as he listened to Zhou Man’s words.

"Sigh, Si, why are you crying?" Zhou Man said helplessly.

“Comrade Zhou, you are a great comrade.” Liu Chaoque said while wiping away his tears, “You are your mother’s pride and your father’s pride.”

"Will it?" He looked at the sky, as if he could see the cloud that belonged to his father.

"Yes, I will." Liu Chaoque gave a military salute. "But you must also take good care of yourself."

“You are a police officer of the people, but when you take off this uniform, you are also someone else’s son.”

“If it was excessive self-defense, I will find someone to defend you.” Upon hearing Liu Chaoque’s words, Zhou Mandu laughed in exasperation: “No, I won’t.”

"Anyway, you have to protect yourself before doing good deeds. You only have one life." Liu Chaoque patted his shoulder.

"Okay." Zhou Man smiled.

They looked at the child and smiled.

So... who exactly is the male lead who plays the pilot?

Liu Chaoque lay on the bed, lost in thought. Zhou Man? But even with caviar, Liu Chaoque didn't know how to change his father's fate. The only thing he could change was to inform the man in advance and use teleportation to save him before the plane exploded.

But this would expose Liu Chaoque's abilities, and it's uncertain whether he'll be able to leave.

As for the pilot trainee, well, his name was Shen Guang'an. The name was alright, but she had only known him for a short time, so she couldn't confirm his identity.

As for these two, well, Liu Chaoque still felt that Zhou Man was more likely. First, they had been in contact earlier, and second, their first meeting was at the police station. How could this not indicate that something was going on?

Even if this situation doesn't occur, she won't go to the police station unless she needs to change her ID or conduct some business.

That explains it even better. He's not there when you need to do business, but he's there when there's something else going on, although sometimes he's not there either.

Moreover, the probability of her getting into trouble is higher than 99:1, so seeing Zhou Man is just a matter of probability.

There was also a transfer student whose only suspicion was that a drought had started after he arrived. Although it might be a normal phenomenon after a flood, Liu Chaoque still intended to assume the worst in this game.

Oh well, I have to go to driving lessons next week, and I also have to learn how to drive tractors and big trucks.

I wonder if I'll ever run into this transfer student. Hopefully not.
