Chapter 40 The Past of the White Shark (2)

"They were so close, it made me tense and my head was throbbing. In a daze, I seemed to hear some kind of voice, they said."

“This stuff smells really good, brother, want to take a bite?” A burly man with a Northeastern accent spoke first.

Da Han, Wu Sifeng looked around but saw no one, only the four white sharks surrounding her, their heads bristling with arrows, unsure of where to begin their attack.

"How can someone who looks so skinny taste good?" Wu Sifeng could imagine a real gangster boss, with a cigar in his hand and a thick necklace around his neck.

But there wasn't a single ghost in the sea. Could she already be dead, and this was just a death fantasy? But all she could see were those white sharks. God, a death replay, no need for this torture.

"What if it tastes good? Turbot is about the same size, isn't it?" The big man slurped his saliva, still unwilling to give up.

"How many pieces of meat does a turbot have? Do you think it's a baleen whale that only needs to eat seaweed to survive? I don't know how it grew so big. If it weren't so big, I would really like to have a taste, even if it's just a vegetarian." The man looked thin and was extremely obsequious, with a somewhat shrill voice.

What the hell do you mean by vegetarianism?

In such a tense atmosphere, Wu Sifeng actually chuckled.

"Brother, no, this thing is provoking us, isn't it?" the burly man said.

"How about we take him down?" the eldest brother suggested.

"Cut!" x3

Wu Sifeng then saw four white sharks that had been motionless suddenly approach, and then one of them attacked first, biting at her feet that were sinking in the water.

"No!" she screamed.

Suddenly, all four great white sharks froze for a second, their fins seemingly still.

She had a gut feeling that if she had spoken even a second later, she would have lost her foot.

"Brother, did this thing say it didn't want it?" The big man asked incredulously. "It understands what we're saying? But it has two legs, isn't it a land creature? It can't communicate with us sea creatures, can it?"

"Never mind whether she understands or not, just ask her and you'll find out." A burly man echoed, looking like one of the boss's men, the kind who quietly does the work. Oh, now that Wu Sifeng is confirmed to be one of those four sharks, they're the same kind of fish.

"I understand." Before she could even ask, Wu Sifeng eagerly replied, "Brothers, I don't taste good. Eating me would be a waste of your teeth and time."

Her hurried words were truly spoken in haste.

"Is that so? Can you prove it?" The older brother didn't believe the prey's words unless he tasted them himself.

"Brother, take a bite of my finger and see if it tastes good." Wu Sifeng steeled herself and held out a finger.

There was no bloody scene; her fingers remained intact.

"Fine, I believe you. You're really willing to let us take a bite? You've got guts! We admire that," the older brother exclaimed.

"With your guts, there's nothing you can't do. If you weren't a land animal, I'd really like to have you join us." The shark who had been working silently suddenly started talking.

“Yes, yes, and you can even understand our language, what a pity,” the big man said.

No pity. By then, I will be nothing more than a dish in your eyes. As a human, I will be too afraid to eat me because I am unfamiliar with you. As a fish, I will go straight into hunting mode and beg for mercy will be a luxury.

Wu Sifeng was very clear-headed.

"Hey, little sister, aren't you from the mainland?" As their relationship grew closer, Wu Sifeng's address changed from "east" to "little sister."

“Yes, brother,” Wu Sifeng replied quickly.

"Then how did you end up in the sea?" the big man continued to ask.

“You know we sail the seas sitting in those wooden and iron things, right?” Wu Sifeng tried her best to explain.

"Those really fierce ones, those huge things with waves a meter high? Girl, you didn't fall down, did you?" A colleague who was lucky enough to be on the deck said that those little people were standing on those tall things.

"No, it's because that thing broke, and I fell into the water." Wu Sifeng said, "Big brother, people from land can't stay in the sea for too long. Do you know where there's any nearby land?" She was on the verge of tears. The temperature of the seawater was about to assimilate her. By then, she would be hypothermic. Even if she wasn't bitten to death by her brothers, she would probably become a corpse.

“It’s near land. Wang Mazi, you’re well-informed, you know that, right?” the big man asked.

The skinny guy answered. So this fish is called Wang Mazi. Could it be a name given by humans?

"Oh, I heard from Big Gudu that if you swim two miles from here, you can see the mainland."

Two miles? With her physical condition, she'd struggle to swim even half a mile.

"Could you take me there, brothers?" She was embarrassed and quickly replied, "I was just saying. If it's inconvenient for you, I can just soak here by myself."

He said it with great reluctance.

"Don't be shy, little sister. We've had a good meal and have plenty of energy. It's just two miles, let's walk."

So Wu Sifeng, holding onto the driftwood, experienced a great white shark sled for the first time in her life. There were three great white sharks behind her and one leading the way in front, giving her an extremely strong feeling of being pushed back.

Wu Sifeng had no idea how bold she was back then. Well, if she could give up on even her fingers so easily, how could she be expected to be afraid?

The land the shark mentioned was actually a small island where people may have once been stranded. On the island, she found some plastic basins, ropes, a broken AI robot, and an enamel cup covered in rust after being exposed to the elements.

“I used an enamel cup as a pot, disassembled the robot, took out some of its parts, and finally managed to make a device that could boil water. Seawater needs to be distilled, and I was exhausted both physically and mentally when I first arrived on the island. It was a sign that I still had some sense to have the strength to boil water instead of drinking seawater raw.” Wu Sifeng sighed, “And there was no fire starter. I should have brought a magnesium rod with me.”

“You’re not a professional adventurer, you’re just out having fun, why are you worrying about starting a fire?” Zhao Yuhan sighed.

"So how did you do it?" Zhao Xiaomei asked. "Did you really start a fire by rubbing sticks together? I heard it's quite difficult. You must have succeeded, right?" She came back alive, just a little thinner, but it wasn't due to long-term dehydration. However, it's possible that she regained her weight afterward, just in case the two of them noticed.

It seemed that another reason why she stayed for so long had been found. The more Zhao Xiaomei thought about it, the sharper her eyes became: "Tell me the truth, did you have any clean water to drink back then?"

"I got to drink it, but it wasn't fire-making by friction, which really tested my ingenuity." Speaking of this, Wu Sifeng was a little proud: "To be honest, although knowledge may pass through the brain, some things will always suddenly pop into my mind. Fire-making by friction is not very practical, so I tried a focused fire-making method. There are a lot of plastic bags on the island. Although most of them are broken, there are always one or two that are good."

Find some small twigs, untie the hemp rope, pinch out a tuft of thin threads, twist the thin threads into a semi-circle, fix it into an oval shape, fill a plastic bag with water, connect the twigs and the plastic bag together with the thin threads, and then fix it to a clump of dry, flammable fluff, waiting for the sun to burn it.

However, the experimental process was always lengthy. Although the theory was correct, the plastic bag was not transparent and its light-gathering effect was not as good as glass, so I had to put it aside for the time being and deal with the food issue.

This island has coconut trees, but because it's still early, the fruit isn't ripe yet. However, there are some coconut shells that were there before, which I used as bowls.

I have to catch fish, and my only weapon is a tree branch. I tried Bear Grylls' method of fishing, but I almost got swept away by the sea and ended up in a sorry state.

Just then, a familiar voice called out to her, "Hey little sister, what are you doing?"

It was the sound of a great white shark. She turned her head and saw a shark grinning foolishly, its big white teeth bared.

"Big brother, why are you back?" Wu Sifeng was pleasantly surprised. On this deserted island with no food sources and even water that needed to be distilled, she really felt that any living creature would be welcome, let alone a great white shark, the king of the water.

"I'm a little worried about you, little sister. Why did you go into the water again?" The older brother circled around Wu Sifeng, asking with great curiosity.

"Brother, can you help me? I live on land and don't know how to fish," Wu Sifeng said awkwardly.

"Hey, you still can't fish? How did you grow so big? Won't you starve to death?" the older brother teased Wu Sifeng before diving into the sea.

"Hey, big brother." I really thought that big brother thought my request was too much and left.

As a result, my older brother gave me a big surprise. He caught a tuna from somewhere and brought it to her, with a loving expression that said, "Eat more, poor child, you don't even know how to hunt," as he pushed the fish toward her.

Wu Sifeng was holding a tuna, feeling lost. Her older brother said, "Little sister, I will come back here again in the future. If you need anything, just tell me and I will bring it for you. I don't know what you land creatures need to raise, so I can only try my best to meet your needs."

"Thank you, brother, thank you, brother." Wu Sifeng was deeply moved. Heaven knows the despair she felt when she fell into the sea, the helplessness she felt when she arrived on the island with nothing, and now her brother's simple words had healed her.

"Hey, are you calling me Big Brother?" Big Brother raised his head, cracked a drunken grin, and to be honest, it was a little scary, with his bloody teeth showing.

But Wu Sifeng habitually returned a smile.

Because of her elder brother, Wu Sifeng's island trip was very enjoyable, and even the monotonous diet did not dampen her enthusiasm. Until the ship discovered her trail and wanted to take her back, they witnessed four great white sharks seeing her off. The ship, thinking she had been attacked by the sharks, shot them down for safety reasons.

She didn't even have a chance to explain before shark blood splattered on her face. Her eyes widened as her older brother's voice grew weaker: "Take good care of yourself, little sister."

Slowly, it turned belly up, and the ship's crew pulled Wu Sifeng aboard. She stared blankly at the four white buoys, which eventually became tiny dots, her eyes filled with tears.

“Since then, I haven’t dared to look at the White Sharks anymore. I feel like they are all shadows of my brothers, but I know I will never see my brothers again.” Wu Sifeng lowered her head, her whole body exuding an aura of sorrow.

Liu Chaoque sighed, "Life is unpredictable. I won't say those comforting words, since you're already feeling bad. But have you ever thought about this: if people had a system for communicating with these animals, wouldn't some tragedies be reduced? The crew fired those shots for protection, and the white shark was reluctant to leave. The inability to communicate led to the white shark's death. You could use your abilities as a link to build bridges between humans and other animals, promoting harmonious coexistence and allowing your abilities to flourish. Wouldn't that be great?"

All three fell silent. Liu Chaoque gave an awkward smile: "Did I say something wrong?"

“You’re right,” Zhao Yuhan affirmed. “It just feels like the workload is huge, and I’m a little reluctant to do it.”

"Actually, you can also do something smaller, like becoming a popular online pet communicator. You can build up your reputation first, and then gradually introduce some wild animals to prove your abilities and gain people's trust. Perhaps later on, you can even conduct animal behavior analysis, explaining precise language into content that people can understand, so that when people encounter animals in the wild, they will know to respect them and remain calm."

The three looked at each other, and Wu Sifeng said, "I also want to speak up for my friend White Shark. I think this method will work."

“Then I agree too,” Zhao Yuhan was the second to respond.

"Then I agree. Anyway, if I don't want to do it anymore, I won't," Zhao Xiaomei said, taking a try-it-and-see approach.

"Then let's go to the aquarium tomorrow," Liu Chaoque confirmed again.

"Yes." Wu Sifeng nodded.

The next morning, Liu Chaoque woke up early. The two of them had booked two rooms, but they were deluxe king rooms. Well, waking up in a 20-meter bed with dim lighting and sleep-inducing aromatherapy, she slept quite well, but she had a stiff neck.

She rubbed her sore shoulders and began to get dressed and wash up.

There was still no movement in Mu Li's room; she was probably still sleeping. Liu Chaoque sent her a message and then went downstairs to have breakfast.

The hotel's breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of breakfast items. Liu Chaoque only picked the smaller ones, but because they were too sweet, she ended up eating some steamed buns and soy milk instead.

"Good morning?" Mu Li rubbed her hair and sat down opposite Liu Chaoque. Looking at the leftover pastries on Liu's plate, she couldn't help but chuckle: "Don't you like them?"

Liu Chaoque shook his head: "It looks quite exquisite, but its sweetness is almost like that of a macaron. I can't eat it."

"Su's pastries? Didn't you already know that? Su's mooncakes are so sweet." Mu Li was speechless.

Liu Chaoque said, "Alright, go get your breakfast."

She knew that Su's mooncakes and pastries weren't tasty, but wasn't she blinded by their exquisite appearance and made an unwise choice?

When Muli returned, there was a bowl of corn and pork rib soup and a few fried buns and dumplings on her plate.

"Hey, can you still eat something?" Mu Li sat down and picked up a pan-fried bun. "This was pretty good when I came here before. Do you want to try some?"

Liu Chaoque: "Then let me have a taste."

Her intense curiosity is such that she immediately perks up at the mention of delicious food.

“This will burst with juice, you better…” Before Mu Li could finish speaking, Liu Chaoque took a big bite, and unsurprisingly, the juice sprayed in his direction.

When Zhao Yuhan and the others saw Liu Chaoque and his group, they saw Mu Li with a sour face, talking to Liu Chaoque. As they got closer, they heard her.

Mu Li exclaimed angrily, "My clothes! They're silk, and they're so hard to wash!"

Liu Chaoque nodded meekly: "I'll wash you when we get back, it's okay, it's okay."

"Nothing my ass!" Zhao Yuhan and the other two immediately retreated, afraid of being caught in the crossfire, their anger instantly reaching its peak.

On the way to the aquarium, they were still arguing, but Liu Chaoque eventually managed to coax him back.

"At worst, I'll take you to the amusement park when we get back," Liu Chaoque conceded.

"What are we playing?" Mu Li opened one eye.

"Let's ride the drop tower and the carousel." Liu Chaoque closed his eyes.

"Okay, let's add a roller coaster and a pirate ship," Mu Li added.

Ah, maybe we should just not make up. For others, making up costs money, but for her, it costs her life. Liu Chaoque silently shed tears, and she managed to utter a single word: "Okay."

"It's settled then. I'll remember every single detail," Mu Li said proudly.

Liu Chaoque: "Waaaaaah!"

It's just that I changed to a different person because I was unhappy.
