The Collapse Begins in Changkong City
Chapter 71 Orphanage
After Pado heard that I agreed to let her sleep in the Dust Song Pot, she took out her left pinky finger and hooked it around my hand, saying, "Let's pinky swear, whoever lies is a little dog."
"Um"
"Pinky promise, never to be broken, or I'll be a dog."
After making the pinky promise, Pado's eyes sparkled. "I never expected that you, Brother Wang Tang, would make a pinky promise with me like a child."
"Oh well, whatever makes you happy."
Paddy stretched, a movement that perfectly showcased her graceful figure.
Wang Tang stared intently at Pado. "Alright, Brother Wang Tang, stop looking, we should go."
“Okay.” Wang Tang followed closely behind Pado, casually enjoying the scenery.
Pado walked calmly toward the orphanage, but her mind was in turmoil.
"Why is Brother Wang Tang still looking at me? I'm so shy! He's not planning to do anything bad to us, is he? Pado, the sober Brother Wang Tang is definitely not that kind of person. If Brother Wang Tang were that kind of person, I would have been his long ago." Thinking of this, Pado's face turned as red as a small apple.
The two barely spoke to each other along the way, which made the atmosphere even more awkward.
"Wow," the atmosphere is so awkward right now. Should I say something? Will Brother Wang Tang suddenly become aggressive because I'm ignoring him?
Pado became increasingly conflicted when suddenly a large hand patted her shoulder. "Who?" The sudden pat on her shoulder startled Pado, but upon closer inspection, it was Wang Tang.
"Brother Wang Tang, could you please not be so scary next time? I almost punched you just now."
Hearing Pado's somewhat complaining words, Wang Tang scratched her head sheepishly. "I'll be more careful next time."
"So, is there something you want to do by taking pictures of me?" Pado looked at Wang Tang with a puzzled expression, as if trying to see right through him.
Wang Tang said nonchalantly, "I just wanted to ask how much longer it will take to get to the orphanage?"
"Hmm... it'll probably take another ten minutes to walk, or about three minutes to run."
"Let's keep going then. We're not in a hurry anyway, and we can also see if any gang fights are happening."
Pado looked at Wang Tang with surprise, "I didn't expect you to like watching gang fights so much, Brother Wang Tang?"
"No, that's not it. I just wanted to see just how chaotic this place could be. Okay, I admit I'm curious. After all, I usually only see military battles, and it's rare to see two criminal gangs fighting each other."
“Brother Wang Tang, there aren’t that many battles on Twilight Street. Those who say Twilight Street is dangerous have never been here.” As soon as Pado finished speaking, “bang bang bang” sounds came from afar.
Pado: "......"
Pado felt like someone was slapping her in the face repeatedly; she never expected the slap to come so quickly.
"Wait a minute, isn't that the orphanage? Oh no, something must have happened at the orphanage." Wang Tang patted Pado on the shoulder. "It's alright, I'll go rescue them." With that, Wang Tang disappeared from the spot.
After watching Wang Tang disappear, Pado paused for a moment, then took off running towards the orphanage. As she ran, she prayed silently that nothing would happen to Wang Tang or the orphanage.
...............
outside the orphanage
Standing in the crowd, a scarred man, who was the leader, said mockingly to the little boy in front of the orphanage, "Kid, hurry up and call your adults out, or I'll blow your head off." He then pulled out a pistol and brandished it in front of the boy.
It's as if it's saying, "You don't want to die here either, do you?"
The little boy had never seen anything like it before, and he was so frightened that he didn't dare to say a word.
Just as the scarred boy was about to continue harassing the little boy, the man discovered his pistol was missing.
"Who...who is it that's playing tricks here?" The scarred man said defiantly, but his heart was already wavering. "Damn it, I was just planning to rob this orphanage! Why is this weird thing happening?"
Suddenly, a hand appeared on his shoulder. "It's not right for a friend to bully you." Before the scarred man could react, he was already on the ground. The pain was excruciating; the man had never imagined that he would be so easily knocked down before he could even react.
The scarred man was about to check what was going on when he discovered that all of the dozen or so men he had brought with him had collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.
"What kind of monster is this? It was able to take down all the people I brought in an instant."
With a "click," a loaded pistol was pressed against the scarred man's head. "Shh, don't move. I can't guarantee this gun won't go off accidentally."
"Big...Big Brother, we...we shouldn't have any grudges against each other, so why are you attacking our Green Dragon Gang?"
"There's really no grudge, but I'm annoyed that the kids aren't here to cause trouble."
The scarred man quickly explained, "It's a misunderstanding, a misunderstanding! I was just scratching him, I didn't really mean to shoot!"
Wang Tang didn't bother to listen to his explanation, and with a casual tap, the man fell into a complete coma.
A few minutes later
When Pado arrived outside the orphanage, she saw dozens of people lying neatly on the ground. "Brother Wang Tang~ What happened to them?"
"Don't worry, I'm just letting them get a good night's sleep, there's nothing serious."
Pado breathed a sigh of relief and patted her broad chest. "You scared me to death! I thought you had killed them all, Brother Wang Tang."
Wang Tang smiled and said, "How could I be so cruel? Giving someone a lesson is enough."
During their conversation, the little boy who had been pointed at with a gun earlier walked over with an older woman dressed as a nun.
Pado saw that the woman in the nun's habit possessed even greater sins than herself, and couldn't help but feel a little envious. Would Brother Wang Tang prefer that nun? After all, his was really big.
Just as Pado was lost in thought, the nun walked up to them and said, "Thank you so much, sir, for saving little Chi. I don't know how to thank you enough."
"It was nothing, no need to thank me."
The nun bowed slightly, offering a gentle smile. "You are too modest. This is an immense favor to us. My name is Aponia, and I am a nun from this orphanage. May I ask this gentleman's name?"
My name is Wang Tang, and I'm currently just an idle, unemployed bum.
Aponia was just about to investigate this man who had never appeared in her premonition when she discovered that this seemingly ordinary man possessed a destiny whose future she could not even foresee.
While Aponia was still trying to glean information about Wang Tang's fate, she suddenly realized that she had developed a destined romantic relationship with this man.
