Unbeknownst to Long Yucheng, a thousand miles away, there was someone he had long forgotten who hated him to the core and wished he could kill him.

At this moment, Long Yucheng was in another illusion.

This illusion resembles a city in the mortal world, sharing many similarities with Suzaku City. However, the buildings in this city are predominantly blue, creating a stark contrast with the red of Suzaku City.

The streets were bustling with people, a lively and vibrant scene.

The pedestrians and vendors had natural and peaceful expressions and composed manners, without the slightest stiffness or affectation. Even the most subtle changes in their expressions appeared vivid and real, looking exactly like real people.

The reason Long Yucheng was able to determine that this was another illusion was that he had once again turned into a dog.

Previously in Suzaku City, the man in red had said that he was the clear and true self who could see through illusions with 100% accuracy.

Does that mean his way of seeing through illusions is that once he enters an illusion, he will turn from a human into a dog?

While having the ability to see through illusions with 100% accuracy is great, couldn't they have come up with a slightly more dignified way of giving a warning? Even a primate would have been better!

Furthermore, even though he already knows he's in an illusion, he should at least tell him how to get out!

As Long Yucheng was secretly grumbling to himself, he suddenly felt something hit the back of his head.

Immediately afterwards, a second and a third stone came one after another, hitting him on the body and head.

Long Yucheng turned his head and saw a group of little kids who hadn't even grown their hair yet, laughing and throwing stones at him.

Long Yucheng didn't want to argue with a child and planned to turn around and walk away.

Seeing him run away, the group of blond-haired boys who had been huddled together became even more smug and overconfident.

"It's scared! It's scared! Quick, catch up with it! Hit it!"

After being hit hard in the corner of his eye again, Long Yucheng turned around and growled at the kids as a threat.

Unexpectedly, the children were not afraid at all; instead, they became even more excited and started throwing stones at Long Yucheng like rain.

Long Yucheng finally lost his temper and charged at the leader of the bad guys, opening his mouth to bite him!

At this critical moment, the little brat nimbly dodged and grabbed someone to shield him. Long Yucheng couldn't stop in time and bit the person hard, leaving a bloody tooth mark on his side.

Long Yucheng roared and raised his head, meeting a pair of emotionless, dark eyes.

For some inexplicable reason, Long Yucheng felt that these eyes seemed familiar, and subconsciously licked the wound he had bitten, which was still bleeding.

The owner of those eyes was a child of about four or five years old. His face, covered in mud, was expressionless, as if he had not even felt the pain.

"Haha! The idiot got bitten by the dog!"

"Deserve it!"

"Hahaha!"

"A stupid dog is biting a stupid person!"

When the surrounding children saw this, instead of standing up for the bitten child, they laughed and mocked him.

The somewhat unusual child remained unmoved, as if everything around him was irrelevant.

But Long Yucheng couldn't take it anymore. He turned around abruptly, bared his teeth fiercely at the group of kids, and let out the most ferocious roar he could muster.

The group of kids were finally scared away and scattered, leaving only Long Yucheng and that unusual child behind.

"Oh no, I think I'm getting better and better at being a dog."

Long Yucheng thought with some sadness.

The child left behind stared at the departing kids, stood there for a moment, and was about to follow when Long Yucheng gently tugged at his sleeve, stopping him in his tracks.

Long Yucheng himself didn't know why he wanted to stop the little guy; he just spoke up instinctively.

After staring at the child for a while, Long Yucheng turned around and took a few steps. Then he looked back and saw that the child had followed him.

Long Yucheng didn't know where he was going, nor did he know where the child's parents were. Judging from the situation, it was questionable whether the child even had parents. So he simply took the child and wandered aimlessly along the way.

As they strolled around, the dog and the person ended up outside the city.

The scenery outside the city is beautiful, surrounded by green mountains and clear waters, a peaceful and serene place.

In the distance, rolling hills are covered in vibrant colors, resembling a beautiful ink painting. A gentle breeze carries the fragrance of flowers, making one feel relaxed and happy.

As he passed a babbling brook, Long Yucheng caught a glimpse of his reflection in the water—a perfect image of a stray dog.

Realizing he was now just a dog, he decided to leap into the stream, dove into the water, and then surface, shaking the water droplets off his fur with abandon.

Before he could wash for long, he heard another "plop" sound. Long Yucheng quickly turned around and saw that the child had also jumped down!

Long Yucheng was terrified and immediately paddled over to try and save the man.

Before we even got close, we saw the child stand up from the knee-deep stream and sway his body strangely.

"?"

Long Yucheng looked puzzled, not understanding what this strange child wanted to do. In any case, it seemed that he didn't need to help.

The stream water in early spring was icy cold, but the child seemed completely oblivious to the chill.

Long Yucheng gently nudged the child with his head, signaling him to return to the shore, but the child just stared at him blankly without reacting.

Left with no other choice, Long Yucheng ran ashore first.

The child then caught up, swaying his body strangely once again.

Long Yucheng now roughly understood—this strange little guy seemed to be imitating his own feather-swinging motion?

To verify this hypothesis, Long Yucheng shook the water droplets off his body again.

The next second, the child also made a series of strange shaking movements, which looked both funny and cute.

"..."

Long Yucheng was speechless, but there was nothing he could do.

A gust of wind blew by, and even though Long Yucheng was covered in thick fur, he felt a chill.

However, when he looked at the child, he found that although the child's lips had turned purple from the cold, he seemed not to feel the cold at all, and his face remained expressionless.

Long Yucheng quickly looked around and spotted a dilapidated temple not far away, so he ran towards it.

After running a few steps, he stopped and looked back. He saw that the child had indeed started jogging along with him, and stopped as well when he stopped.

And so, Long Yucheng led this strange child, who seemed to be learning to walk like a duckling, all the way to the dilapidated temple.

Although the dilapidated temple looks run-down and might even leak on rainy days, at least the four walls still stand, keeping out the chill of early spring.

Inside the temple was a bodhisattva that Long Yucheng did not recognize. The outer skin of the clay sculpture with gold plating had mostly peeled off, revealing the mottled clay body.

The Bodhisattva holds a flower and lowers her eyes, her face compassionate and serene, as if she is oblivious to all the disturbances of the mortal world. Her gaze is deep and distant, as if she is gazing upon some peaceful and beautiful world.
