Conan: No, why aren't you following the script?
The ransom note that still hasn't appeared in Chapter 82
Soon, not long after, Kitagawa Isao drove Ai Haibara to Professor Agasa's house.
At this moment, Professor Agasa was home alone and was so anxious that he was jumping up and down in a panic.
There's nothing that can be done about it. After all, in Professor Agasa's eyes, Conan Edogawa is like a child he raised from a young age. Being able to watch him grow up healthy and strong is the most important thing to Professor Agasa.
But now, Conan has suddenly met with this unexpected turn of events, disappearing without a trace...
Professor Agasa wanted to help but didn't know where to start, and unfortunately, he had no one to consult with. Ever since receiving Kogoro Mouri's call, he had been in a state of constant anxiety.
Seeing Ai Haibara and Isao Kitagawa arrive, he was like a drowning man grasping at a straw. He immediately invited them inside, not even bothering to pour them tea, and began asking about the current progress.
"Doctor, I know you're anxious, but please don't panic. This situation with Conan is something none of us expected. In fact, Mr. Mori just called me. I came here to report the incident to the police and to investigate the clues surrounding Conan's disappearance."
Kitagawa Isao first calmed Professor Agasa down, then gave Ai Haibara a look.
The little guy instantly understood, went to Professor Agasa's side, and began to gently comfort him.
Kitagawa Isao took this opportunity to take out his phone and contact the Metropolitan Police Department's First Investigation Division, instructing them not to alert the suspect and to meet at Professor Agasa's house first.
About fifteen minutes after hanging up the phone, Inspector Megure arrived at Professor Agasa's house with a group of men, ostensibly to investigate the aftermath of the Yokosuka Kosaka family castle.
As a seasoned police officer, Inspector Megure immediately understood the situation when he received Kitagawa Isao's call and highly praised his new junior colleague's caution.
"Brother Kitagawa! You truly are the savior of our Metropolitan Police Department. In all the kidnapping cases we've handled over the years, you're the first person with this kind of counter-surveillance awareness. That's really remarkable!"
Seeing Inspector Megure excitedly patting his shoulder, Kitagawa Isao raised an eyebrow and gently pulled him to sit down on the sofa:
"Inspector Megure, these are all things that Mr. Mori mentioned on the phone. I was just reading from the script. Anyway, it's more important to discuss the case as soon as possible and confirm whether Conan has really been kidnapped, isn't it?"
"Yes, yes, Brother Kitagawa, you're right!"
Upon hearing this, Inspector Megure suddenly realized what was going on. After accepting the black tea that Ai Haibara had brewed for him, he quickly called Inspector Takagi. After discussing it for a while, they decided that Professor Agasa would take the lead and call Kogoro Mouri to inquire about the current progress.
At this point, Professor Agasa was already in a state of panic. Hearing that he could be of help, he didn't dare to delay and hurriedly grabbed the phone to call Kogoro Mouri.
The phone was answered after only two rings, showing that Kogoro Mouri had been waiting for their call.
"Hey Mori... it's me, Agasa. Um... what's Conan's situation right now..."
"Oh, Professor Agasa, Ran and I are still searching separately outside. We've searched almost every street in Beika Town, but we still haven't found any trace of that kid... By the way, is Kitagawa with you right now? I have something to tell him."
“Mr. Mori, I’m here,”
After taking the phone from Professor Agasa, Kitagawa Isao turned on the speakerphone and placed it on the table. "I'm at Professor Agasa's house right now. I was worried that something might happen to the professor, so Ai and I drove over here after you contacted me. Just tell me what you want to say. I've turned on the speakerphone, and they're right next to me."
The "they" could refer to Professor Agasa and Ai Haibara, or it could refer to Inspector Megure and Inspector Takagi, who are poised to act.
Kogoro Mouri was well aware of this.
After exchanging a few words with Kitagawa Isao, he quickly recounted the events of the previous night and today in detail.
Around dusk, Kogoro Mouri, who was drinking alone in the office, never saw Conan return. Even after Ran, who was out of school later than elementary school students, finished grocery shopping and went home, Conan still hadn't shown up.
As dinner time approached, Kogoro Mouri became restless, feeling that Conan was too playful, and wanted to personally go outside to drag him back, but Ran stopped him.
Ran said that Conan is a big kid now and always has his own opinions. The fact that he hasn't come home so late means that he must have something urgent to take care of at Professor Agasa's house. She told him not to worry about him for now and that he should be back by tomorrow morning.
Kogoro Mouri was initially a little unconvinced by Ran's words, but Ran's point did make some sense. In addition, it was a rare day off, so he didn't do anything extra. The two of them ate a quick dinner and then went about their own business.
And so it went until the next morning, and the phone at the Mori Detective Agency never rang again.
As noon approached, Kogoro Mouri finally couldn't hold back any longer, and even Ran noticed something was amiss.
After calling Professor Agasa, he learned that Conan had not gone to his house.
Undeterred, Kogoro Mouri checked with Ayumi, Mitsuhiko, and the others' homes, only to receive the same answer.
Upon arriving at this point, the Mori father and daughter finally realized that something was wrong and went out to search for Conan's whereabouts. During this time, Kogoro Mori found half of the missing person and then returned to the Mori Detective Agency to contact Isao Kitagawa for help before continuing the search.
As of now, Kogoro Mouri has not received any notification that could be a ransom call, nor has he seen any kidnapping letter...
When Inspector Megure heard this description, the easygoing, portly policeman immediately furrowed his brows into a knot.
"Hmm... Brother Mori is from our First Investigation Division. If even he can't find any trace of him, then it means Conan shouldn't be in Beika Town right now. But if Conan really has been kidnapped, why don't the kidnappers demand a ransom or make any demands? What... what are they after?"
Inspector Megure was completely baffled by this. After hanging up on Kogoro Mouri, the group quickly resumed their discussion.
