Chapter 24 Awkward Sounds

The main light in the room was turned off, leaving only the bedside lamp on.

The girl on the sofa had been watching him for an hour. Jiang Chenyu looked up and met her crystal-clear eyes. "Am I handsome?"

Gu Nuannuan shook her head, "Not good-looking." She's just a bit too handsome.

"...Then what do you think of me?"

Gu Nuannuan pressed her right hand against her left, her arm against the edge of the sofa, and rested her chin on the back of her right hand, asking curiously, "Why don't you sleep in the study?"

"Why should I sleep in the study when I have my own bedroom?"

"But I'm in your bedroom. If we're in the same room, neither of us will be innocent."

"We're both registered under the same certificate, what more do you want innocence from us?"

Gu Nuannuan bit her lip upon hearing this.

It seems like they shouldn't have been innocent in the first place.

However, "we have a three-point agreement."

"Isn't one of the three rules in the agreement that I can't sleep in my own room?"

It seems... there isn't one.

Gu Nuannuan swallowed hard, then straightened up. "Jiang Chenyu, you wouldn't be plotting something against me by deliberately sleeping in the same room with me, would you?"

"Gu Nuannuan, put away your girlish thoughts. I have no interest in a little kid like you."

Gu Nuannuan gritted her teeth. What girlish thoughts could she possibly have? She just wanted to use this method to deliberately provoke Jiang Chenyu and make him leave the bedroom.

He's not in this room, so it's her freedom to sleep on the sofa or the floor, and no one else will know. But if he also sleeps in this room, she feels uncomfortable; it's like someone is taking over her space.

Seeing that she couldn't get rid of him, Gu Nuannuan lay back down on the sofa in frustration, sighing, "Sigh, I'll definitely talk less in the future."

A joking remark brought Jiang Chen back – a miscalculation.

She closed her eyes and pretended to sleep.

Jiang Chenyu stopped engaging in childish conversations with her and resumed his aloof demeanor, flipping through foreign language books.

The room was quiet, the lights were dim, and the central air conditioning was running, keeping the room cool and comfortable.

A few minutes later, the sound of pages turning could be heard, like a lullaby, and Gu Nuannuan almost fell asleep.

For the first time, she felt how pleasant it was to close her eyes and listen to a book while turning the pages.

No wonder the ancients loved listening to storytelling; they would close their eyes, lie back in their armchairs, and rock back and forth to sleep. She felt a sense of peace simply from the sound of pages turning.

The quiet room was suddenly broken by an unusual sound.

Then, the sound rang out again.

Gu Nuannuan's face was already as red as it could possibly be, because the sound was coming from inside her belly.

Jiang Chenyu also put down his book and looked towards the sofa.

"Grumpy"

Gu Nuannuan pressed hard on her stomach, a little voice inside her suddenly popping out and warning her stomach: "You weren't this accommodating when I was hungry before! I've only been hungry once tonight, and you expect me to yell now? Are you asking for a beating?"

Stomach: gurgling

My stomach rumbled again, "gurgling."

The man on the bed moved; the sound of him getting out of bed and putting on his slippers reached Gu Nuannuan's ears. She knew Jiang Chenyu was coming over.

She shyly stopped covering her stomach with her hands and started covering her face, curling up her body to try and suppress the rumbling in her stomach.

Jiang Chenyu walked to her sofa, looked down at the girl curled up in a small ball, her hands covering her face, her ears were all red.

He had intended to take this opportunity to mock her, but when he got closer and saw her embarrassment, he ultimately didn't say anything and turned to leave the room.
