Farming in the Magical World

Chapter 50 Black Tiger's Day

"gather... ..."

A loud male voice broke the morning's tranquility in the square.

Upon hearing this sound, the originally quiet atmosphere in the dormitory instantly became noisy and chaotic, like a morning market, with angry curses mixed with complaints!

"Damn it, where are my pants? Who took them?"

"Damn it, where did my clothes go...?"

"Why so early... ..."

Black Tiger on the bed opened his eyes immediately, nimbly rolled over and got out of bed, quickly put on his newly issued uniform, and then gave the chatterbox who was still muttering in his dream a loud and crisp slap.

Snap... ...

"Who?"

Gavin sat up abruptly, squinting and searching around. When he found it was him, he muttered a few words of resentment and helplessness before lying back down and pretending to be dead again.

After getting dressed, Black Tiger slapped each of the team members still on the bed, his gestures quite practiced, clearly indicating he had slapped this move many times.

After waking everyone up, he didn't leave alone. Instead, he stood at the dormitory door, watching the team members intently. If anyone was still sleeping, he wouldn't hesitate to slap them again.

The training he received during this period taught him a valuable lesson: their team was a unified entity. Running ahead to assemble would not earn him any reward; in fact, he might be punished. He had to ensure that all team members assembled within the allotted time, which was his responsibility as the team leader.

"Snap..."

"Tiger, are you crazy? Why are you slapping me like that?" Gavin was furious after being slapped again. He yelled angrily and jumped out of bed.

But upon seeing Black Tiger's imposing figure, he immediately deflated, muttering resentfully, "You're just a squad leader, not a knight, what's with all the swagger? You're still just a lowly commoner."

Hearing this chatterbox spouting his spittle again, the surrounding team members shrank back, secretly thinking that this talkative guy was probably going to get beaten up again for his unrestrained tongue, and they were waiting for the show to begin.

Black Tiger stood still, not angered by Gavin calling him a scoundrel. Instead, he chuckled, revealing a row of white teeth. "What's so great about me?"

"If we come in last place again in today's race, the second team will be all high and mighty. You'll all have to wash their smelly socks for a month! You... all of you!"

He pointed to the team members still in the dormitory and yelled, "Are you ready?"

The shout was louder than Tim's reveille, startling several people, but it did speed up the packing process a bit.

"Hurry, hurry, run, run... Gavin, if you talk nonsense again today, I'll stuff a stinky sock in your mouth, you hear me?"

Upon hearing Black Tiger's words, the team members who had finished tidying up and were heading out together also remembered the undeserved disaster they had suffered before, and glared angrily at Gavin.

Gavin pursed his lips, still muttering under his breath, "Just one lousy player, why take it so seriously? The salary is good, but he's just getting caught in the crossfire for the Cavaliers. Just get by!"

Although he was quite unconvinced, he still sped up a bit. He was worried that the whole team would be punished, and he himself would probably not have an easy time either.

After all his team members had left the dormitory, Black Tiger surveyed the area and, finding that no one had fallen behind, turned and ran towards the assembly point in the center of the square.

Three teams had gathered in the center of the square: his team, Aaron's team, and Wayne's team.

Black Tiger has been a member of the guard for several days now, and they have been training almost every day during this time.

We get up before dawn, gather for a run, and then have breakfast.

After breakfast, we will have to do formation training in the morning, including marching and lining up.

After lunch, it gets a bit more tiring, mainly involving obstacle courses and physical training.

Those obstacles were built by his team. At the time, he didn't think much of it, but after he started training with those wooden stakes, water pits, and logs, he realized that it was really not an ordinary kind of tiring thing.

He originally thought he would be free in the evening, but he found that he was not free at all. Not only did he have to learn some reading and writing skills from Lord Tim, but he also had to memorize rules and regulations. Those who could not memorize them would be punished.

Occasionally, Lord Lanny would come and tell them about the history of Caster Ridge, the history of the kingdom, the founding purpose of the Security Guard, the code of conduct of the Security Guard, and so on.

Every day is like this, a very regular and... busy life.

He thought he would find it very difficult to get used to.

As a hunter, his life used to be filled with daily worries about tomorrow's prey, and he never let go of his bow and arrows.

But to my surprise, he adapted very quickly.

You don't need to think about what to eat tomorrow, how to hunt more prey, or how to escape if you encounter a real tiger.

He only needed to think about three things each day: training, training, and more training. Even though he hadn't touched his beloved bow and arrows for several days, he didn't feel much anxiety.

He was one of the more physically capable members of the guard. Lord Lanny had personally said that he thought highly of him and even patted him on the shoulder, which excited him for a long time.

Later, when the team leader was being selected, he was chosen as the leader of a squad of ten.

Was it because he was an excellent hunter in the past? Or because he trained hard and achieved excellent results? Or was it simply because Lord Lanny had high hopes for him?

He hoped it was the second reason!

Unlike some others in the group, his main purpose in joining the guard was to avenge his elder brother, not for the salary.

A few months ago, my elder brother Black Bear went to Dragonfall Ridge with Lord August. He was killed there forever. Those despicable Grummen killed him. He wants revenge. He wants to hunt down those Grummen like a hunt, and he won't let a single one of them go.

Before he arrived, he only thought those Grummans were despicable. Driven by the belief in avenging his brother, he answered Lord Lanny's call and came to the guard.

After arriving, through the nightly talks that Lord Lanny called, he learned many things, including why the Grummans often came down from the mountains to plunder—things he had never thought of before.

After Lord Lanny's easy-to-understand explanation, everyone realized that those Grummans were not only despicable, but truly deserving of death. They committed all sorts of atrocities in the northern border of the kingdom, roaming around burning, killing, and looting, causing great harm to the people of the north.

Their training is for the purpose of protecting the safety of the people of the North, the safety of Castor Territory, and the safety of their own brothers and sisters.

Of course, Lord Lanny also said that not all Grummans are demons, and the Security Guard is neither a bandit nor a murderer. They cannot kill innocent people indiscriminately; they must be disciplined, have ideals, and have beliefs.

Mr. Lanny spoke so well; he really hit the nail on the head. He wasn't some demon or a serial killer; he just wanted to avenge his brother.

When he first met Lord Lanny, although he outwardly showed great respect for the nobleman, he secretly looked down on this baron, who was as thin as a grouse. He felt he could snap his pale neck with one hand.

But later, as the training went on, he grew to admire and respect Lord Lanny more and more. The master's wisdom was higher than the Black Mountain and deeper than the Caster River. Compared to the master, he felt as foolish as a simpleton.

When they first arrived, the guards were all civilians. How could they know how to turn left or right? How could they understand that they should stand in line quietly and in a straight line? Everyone was lazy, looking blank and confused.

Even Lord Tim was furious and almost hit someone. At the time, he actually wanted to stop him, but he didn't know whether he was stronger or the knight was stronger.

But after Lord Lanny gave some pointers in the square and made some strange gestures, things immediately changed the next day.

Originally, everyone thought that doing five push-ups for each mistake was a simple matter and no one cared. Gavin, the chatterbox, kept talking in the team. When he was caught, he just shrugged, did five push-ups on the ground without a care, got up, and continued talking.

But when he was caught the second time, the number of push-ups was increased to 10, and his expression immediately changed. And when it was increased to 15 the third time, Gavin's expression changed completely.

He still can't forget Gavin's ugly face back then, haha, it's funny to think about it now.

He initially thought that day would be the day Gavin spoke the least, but he later realized he was wrong; that day was probably the day he spoke the most from then on.

As training progressed, the requirements became more and more detailed and numerous, but the team members seemed to adapt to it, and their competitive spirit was actually aroused.

At the beginning, everyone ran forward precisely on time during morning runs. As long as you didn't fall too far behind and arrived on time, that was fine. As for the people around you, you could only hope for the best.

If someone makes a mistake on a command, the teammates around them will just laugh and look at them with mockery. Even if it's a fellow villager, they'll at most whisper a reminder.

But now it's different. The teams are competing with each other, and no one wants to fall behind. As soon as someone falls behind, several teammates will rush over to help and push them. Nobody wants to stand at the cafeteria entrance and watch the leading teams smugly eating first.

As for making a mistake on orders, that's terrifying. Not only will the whole team glare at you, but before you rest at night, everyone in the squad will practically become your coach (as Lord Lanny said, in the guard, those who teach skills are called coaches) to teach you step by step. Don't even think about sleeping until you've learned it.

All these changes happened step by step after Lord Lanny gave him his guidance that day. He was certain of this. He had seen Lord Lanny instructing Lord Tim with his own eyes, and many others in the team had seen it too.

While lost in thought, he didn't slow down. He hurried and finally caught up with Gavin and the others who were at the back of the group before reaching the meeting point in the center of the square. He stood with them in the same line, as straight as a javelin.

"Report, Caster Security Guard, squad one, 11 men expected, 11 men present, please give instructions!"
