Farming in the Magical World

Chapter 34 Between Father and Daughter

After parting ways with Tim at the castle gate, Tiffany drove straight to the Eno family's castle.

As the seventh young lady of the Eno family, the gatekeepers naturally recognized her. Moreover, she did not sit in the car, but got out and walked some distance from the castle gate.

But the guards didn't look at her; instead, they unexpectedly reached out and stopped Joseph.

The doorman had a roguish air about him, and he looked Joseph up and down with disdain and contempt.

"Halt! This is the Earl's Castle. What are you doing here?"

Joseph was completely bewildered by the guard's words. He glanced at his wife beside him and thought, "Isn't this my wife's family home? She's right here. What do these guards mean?"

Feeling the surprised look Joseph was giving her, Tiffany blushed instantly, feeling both ashamed and annoyed.

"Alright, Paco, this is my attendant. Is my father in the castle?"

Paco looked Joseph up and down warily for a long time before seemingly noticing Tiffany, a fake smile on his face.

"Ah, Miss Seven, I'm so sorry, I didn't notice you! It's just that things haven't been peaceful in Elfen lately, so we've naturally become more cautious!"

"The master is in the castle, come in, come in!"

He waved impatiently at Tiffany, then turned to Joseph and glared at him fiercely. "Kid, this is an earl's castle, not your country. Watch your manners."

Being treated like this by a servant in her own family home, especially in front of her own servants, made Tiffany tremble with anger.

If it weren't for Lanny's request, she would have loved to turn around and return to Caster Ridge immediately, never to appear in this place that brought her so many sad memories again.

But she can't be so willful anymore; she's no longer alone. She has a husband and a family.

She knew something about the Wells family's predicament, and she had also heard some of it from Lanny. He was her husband, and if she didn't help him through this difficult time, who would?

Taking a deep breath to suppress his anger and embarrassment, he gave Paco a long look, waved to Joseph to follow, and then walked into the castle.

Along the way, she encountered several servants from the castle. Upon seeing her appear at the castle, the servants either hurriedly bowed their heads and left, or looked at her as if they wanted to say something but hesitated.

However, she had gotten used to it, because her nominal mother, Countess Louise, disliked her very much, which made the servants hesitant to get too close to her.

Kind-hearted people would simply avoid her from a distance and not have much contact with her, while those with less kind hearts might even take the initiative to bully and humiliate her.

Since she was nominally the daughter of an earl, the servants did not dare to mistreat her too much; in other words, they only said some unpleasant things and were very rude.

But her older brothers and sisters were not afraid of her at all. They treated her very badly, and would beat or scold her if she disobeyed them in the slightest.

Therefore, when she was in the castle, she would never leave her room unless necessary, or she would hide in the library, which the count rarely visited, and stay there for a whole day.

Her biggest worry upon returning to the castle was running into her older brothers and sisters, wondering how they would embarrass her!

Fortunately, along the way, apart from a few servants, I didn't see any of my older brothers and sisters, nor did I see Louise, my "mother".

"Aunt Bonnie, can you tell me where my father is?"

Tiffany grabbed a passing servant and asked about the Earl's whereabouts.

The servant was a middle-aged woman. When Tiffany was in the castle, she had sympathized with Tiffany's plight. Although she didn't offer her much help, she was one of the few servants who treated Tiffany with a relatively gentle attitude.

"Miss, you're back?" Aunt Bonnie's face lit up with surprise when she saw Tiffany, but she quickly hesitated, as if she wanted to say something. She looked around but ultimately didn't say anything, only pointing to the study.

Tiffany, unaware of Bonnie's unusual behavior, handed Joseph over to Bonnie and hurriedly headed towards the study.

Angus rarely goes to his study, as he doesn't enjoy reading. But once he does appear in his study, he is usually left undisturbed.

Now that she has a rare opportunity to be undisturbed, she has to hurry. If those annoying guys find out she's back, it will probably cause even more trouble.

Thump thump thump... ...

Reaching the study door, she carefully knocked. Only after hearing a "come in" from inside did she slowly push open the door and go in.

Sure enough, Angus was alone in the study, looking down at something on his desk, without looking towards the door.

Tiffany walked over quietly, stood opposite the desk, and cautiously called out, "Father."

In his memory, only during the years when his biological mother was still in the castle could he and his father be a little more unrestrained.

Since her mother left the castle, she has become very cautious around her biological father, afraid that she might offend him with a single word or action.

At this moment, she took a quick look at the things on the table and felt that it should be a map, probably a map of the family territory, because she found the words "Castel Ridge" on it.

Seemingly surprised that it was Tiffany's voice, the count paused upon hearing the call, then rolled up the map, looked up at her with a cold gaze, and said nothing.

Being stared at by her father like that, Tiffany instantly felt immense pressure, making it almost impossible for her to breathe, and even causing her heart to skip a few beats.

"Why are you back? Why didn't you stay in Castel? What are you doing in Elfen?"

In the end, it was the Earl who broke the somewhat somber atmosphere in the room, though it sounded more like an accusation, a question.

Tiffany bit her lip, hesitating whether to reveal her purpose directly.

Originally, she planned to talk to her father first, to build a relationship, and then take the opportunity to express her demands. However, she did not expect the count to have such an attitude when he saw her, which left her somewhat at a loss.

Looking at her father's handsome and mature face, Tiffany felt no care or love for his children, only endless indifference and authority, based on the Earl's authority.

Seeing that Tiffany's lips were slightly parted but she didn't say anything, Angus became a little impatient and lowered his head to start tidying up the things on the table.

Seeing that her father seemed somewhat angry, Tiffany panicked. Forgetting her previous plan to start with small talk before getting to the point, she quickly said, "Father, I... I came back this time to ask you if the money the Wells family owes you can be repaid later? We're a bit short on cash right now..."

Unexpectedly, Angus interrupted her rudely before she could finish speaking, coldly uttering, "No!"

Hearing Angus's harsh rejection, and remembering how she had hoped her father would treat her better after returning to the family, only to be met with such coldness, Tiffany's eyes reddened. Her voice became choked with sobs.

"Father, I'm your own daughter! Don't you care about me at all?" She wiped away the tears welling in her eyes. "When Mother was still in the castle, you were..."

When Tiffany mentioned her biological daughter, Angus's attitude seemed to soften somewhat, and he slowly stopped packing his things. However, when Tiffany mentioned her biological mother, he looked up, and his attitude turned hostile again.

"Shut up, remember, your mother is Louise, understand?"

Seeing the furious Angus, Tiffany's tears finally fell, streaming down her face.

"Why? My mother is clearly... ..."

Upon hearing Tiffany's words, Angus abruptly stood up and stormed out of the study, not even bothering to listen to what Tiffany was about to say.

Hearing the study door slam shut, Tiffany finally collapsed to the floor, bursting into suppressed sobs.

She was a little confused. When she was just old enough to remember things, her father and mother had a very loving relationship. She couldn't understand how things had turned out this way.

I don't remember my father and mother arguing much. How could my mother have suddenly been ousted from the castle?

She cried sadly on the ground for a long time, but no one came to comfort her, which made her feel resistant and repulsed by the castle once again.

With some difficulty, she stood up, supporting herself on the table. Wiping away her tears, she decided to go out and find Joseph so she could go home that night—to her real home, the home with her husband and future, not this cold, indifferent place.

She hadn't been gone long. When she found Joseph, Aunt Bonnie was still there, bringing him some food. Joseph was squatting on the ground eating.

"Joseph, let's grab some food and go!"

Joseph was already somewhat surprised to see the lady arrive, and he was even more surprised when he heard her words: "Madam, traveling at night is very dangerous."

Aunt Bonnie, being more observant, noticed the tear stains on Tiffany's face. Having some suspicions, she patted Joseph, telling him to be quiet. Then she pulled Tiffany aside and whispered, "Miss, I... I don't know if I should tell you, but you'd better be careful. I heard that Madam..."

At this point, she glanced around warily for a moment before lowering her voice to continue, "The lady's younger brother came to the castle not long after you married. I heard that the lady is planning to find him a fief and bestow a noble title, and it seems, it seems she has her eye on..."

She couldn't continue, but Tiffany understood what she meant. The unspoken location must be her current home, Caster Ridge.

Sniffed, trying to make her voice sound normal, before whispering her thanks to Bonnie, "Thank you, Auntie, I understand!"

She was skeptical of the news; these servants probably didn't quite understand just how complicated it was for a noble to change fiefdoms. She, on the other hand, had read many books and legal texts about the kingdom and knew very well the difficulties involved.

Regardless, this Bonnie lady was still very concerned about me, much better than most people in the castle, and her gratitude was very sincere.

In the end, she still took Joseph with her, disregarding the dangers of traveling at night, and left the castle overnight, heading towards Caster Ridge.
