Starry Sky Railway: I Intruded with the Heart of God
Chapter 9 The Dying King
“General Derry? General Derry?” Dirk called out from the side.
Delhi then snapped out of his reverie.
"Have you brought the person?" Delhi asked.
"General Derry, the man has been brought here," Dirk said.
“Okay, good. Take me to see them,” Derry said, gesturing for Dirk to lead the way.
Inside the VIP room, Mo Li looked out at the sky. The colors here were very monotonous, except for orange, and more orange, in shades of light orange, pale orange, and dark orange. For the first time, Mo Li felt that it was really monotonous.
Mo Li asked Lao Yang in a very low voice, "Lao Yang, what's wrong with that adjutant, Dirk?"
Old Yang also looked out the window at the scenery outside the city, where smoke and fire were rising.
Soldiers coming and going on the street, some had lost an arm, some had even lost a leg.
On the stretchers coming and going, there were corpses covered with orange cloth.
“He’s definitely acting a bit strange. We’ll see what happens when he shows other unusual behavior. I’m not sure which faction he’s affiliated with right now,” Old Yang said.
The two waited a while longer, and soon General Delhi arrived in the VIP room.
"Mr. Walter, it's an honor to meet you," Derry said politely as he entered.
Old Yang replied, "General Deli, I've heard so much about you."
"And who is this?" Delhi looked at Mo Li beside him.
Mo Li had long since reached the point of preserving his youthful appearance; now he looked like a normal eighteen-year-old short-lived human.
"This is Mo Li, also known as Wumingke. He just joined Wumingke yesterday," Old Yang introduced.
“Mr. Mo Li is truly a promising young man, hahaha,” Mr. Deli said.
"Hmm." He didn't speak, pretending to be aloof.
Delhi said, “His Majesty the King is unable to see you, but you can go to see His Majesty the King. He is already terminally ill.”
"What illness does he have?" Mo Li asked.
“We don’t know either. We’ve consulted all the famous doctors, but we’re still clueless,” General Derry said dejectedly.
"Okay, then take us to see him," Old Yang said.
“Alright, please follow me.” After saying this, General Derry instructed his adjutant, Dirk, to take over his duties for the time being.
While wandering around the city, some soldiers spotted General Dirk and his guests.
One soldier said to the soldier next to him, "Are those two the nameless passengers from the Star Train?"
"It should be. Mr. Derry said it a long time ago: we should hold on until the nameless passengers of the Star Train arrive and deal with the thing called the 'Star Core' that caused this catastrophe."
"Can those two really handle it?" another soldier questioned.
"Whether it's a mule or a horse, the only way to tell is to put it to the test." (Translated from alien language into Earth language...)
After winding through the palace, we finally arrived at the king's bedroom. Seriously, what era is this? There's still a king in this world.
Delhi knocked on the door, and the sickly king inside called out, "Come in."
General Delhi opened the door, and there stood the king, of course, on the other side.
Mo Li glanced at the king's head, and what he saw was alarming. His head was filled with death energy, and Mo Li could not see any life in his entire body.
Mo Li was stunned for a moment, which was noticed by Lao Yang.
The king, however, showed no sign of distress, and spoke in his sickly tone, "I am here, on behalf of all intelligent beings on Sun and Time Star, to thank the nameless passenger from the Starry Sky Train crew for taking the time to help us solve the problem of the star core... cough cough cough..."
Foul-smelling saliva sprayed from his mouth.
This further confirmed Mo Li's suspicions.
"Don't worry, we will help Ri Shixing get through this difficult time. You should rest well. We'll be leaving now," Old Yang said.
"Very well, very well, please take your time. General Delhi, please entertain our distinguished guests for me." The king finished speaking and coughed a few more times.
After agreeing, General Delhi followed the two men away.
Old Yang said to General Delhi, "General Delhi, may we speak in private for a moment?"
Seeing Old Yang's serious expression, Deli immediately said, "Alright, please follow me."
He led everyone to a quiet room, and Old Yang nodded to Mo Li, indicating that he could begin.
Mo Li cleared his throat and said, "Mr. Deli, are you aware that the King is dead?"
General Delhi was stunned. He looked at Mo Li in disbelief.
But the next moment, General Delhi said, "It's alright, you can continue."
Mo Li continued, "The king is indeed dead. What you see now is a corpse that still has the ability to think and speak."
"Mo Li, is what you said alright?" Old Yang asked.
“Absolutely no problem. I can indeed see things that ordinary people can’t. The king has no trace of life, only death.” After Mo Li finished speaking, General Deli gasped.
It took General Delhi a long time to calm down. He then said to the two men, "Thank you for telling me this. So, what should we do next?"
"Let's wait and see," Old Yang said.
"My suggestion is also to wait and see," Mo Li echoed.
“I understand. So, when shall we address the issue of the star core?” General Derry asked.
Old Yang and Mo Li exchanged a glance and said, "Yes, tomorrow. We still need to contact the Star Train tonight."
General Delhi nodded and then left.
Inside the VIP hotel, although there were two separate rooms, the two were together, connected to the Starry Sky Train's communication system.
"Hello, this is the Starry Sky Train, this is Pam," the train conductor's voice came through.
"I am Walter Yang. We have arrived at Sun City and there are no abnormalities. The suspected force is: one." Old Yang reported the current situation.
Soon, Himeko's voice came from the other side: "Be careful, and don't hesitate to help if you need it. I will help you remotely."
"Okay." Old Yang ended the call.
"It's still early before bedtime, don't you want to go out for a walk?" Old Yang asked Mo Li.
Mo Li thought for a moment and said, "You're right, I'll go for a walk."
When someone invites Mo Li to go out for a walk, there's usually a deeper meaning behind it.
Just as they stepped out of the hotel, a deafening explosion came from the west, and many people looked in that direction in fear.
What's going on?
That was quite a commotion; I bet everyone in the city heard it.
Soon, a large number of soldiers rushed over there in groups, presumably because something big had happened.
Mo Li inadvertently noticed a familiar figure.
That figure? Isn't that the problematic Lieutenant Dirk? Mo Li quickly followed, hoping to find something to use against him this time.
