The Eldest Daughter Returns with Power

Chapter 15 Returning to Qifeng City

Yuwen Mo frowned deeply. His keen senses told him that there seemed to be something unusual hidden in the wind. He turned to Su Yunruo and Nangong Sheng with a serious expression and whispered, "Be careful, I feel something is wrong." After saying that, he slowly walked to the broken door and gently pushed it open.

As the small door slowly opened, a blast of damp air rushed in, carrying the smells of dust and decay. Yuwen Mo instinctively covered his nose and squinted to adjust his vision. His gaze peered through the crack in the door and revealed a narrow, dimly lit passageway. The walls of the passageway were covered in thick moss, giving it a sinister and eerie appearance.

Broken tiles and withered leaves rustled on the ground. Su Yunruo gripped her longsword tightly, a hint of unease in her eyes. She lowered her voice and said to Yuwen Mo, "Senior Brother, we've only been gone for less than half a month, yet the city has become so desolate." Yuwen Mo didn't respond, only silently gazing into the depths of the passage, a sense of foreboding rising within him.

He took a deep breath, resolutely stepped forward, and entered the darkness. Nangong Sheng followed without hesitation. The three of them moved forward cautiously, each step taken with extreme care. They slowly advanced along the passage, heading towards the Shen family's residence.

Suddenly, a faint sound came from ahead, as if trembling gently in the air, or perhaps someone whispering. Yuwen Mo immediately stopped and gestured for the two behind him to be quiet. They held their breath nervously, concentrating on listening to the subtle sound. "It's...it's Uncle Shen's voice!" Su Yunruo exclaimed in surprise. Yuwen Mo nodded, his eyes firm and focused, and quickly strode towards the direction from which the sound came.

After rounding a bend, they came to an open room filled with a strong, pungent stench of blood. Uncle Shen lay weakly on the ground, his face as pale as paper, devoid of any color. Several corpses lay scattered around him.

"Uncle!" Su Yunruo was frantic and rushed to Uncle Shen without hesitation, supporting him tightly. Uncle Shen opened his eyes with difficulty, his gaze fixed on Yuwen Mo, Su Yunruo, and Nangong Sheng. He gasped, "A...a group of mysterious people...attacked the Shen family! Quick...quick, go save them!" Before he could finish speaking, he collapsed to the ground from exhaustion.

Yuwen Mo's eyes instantly sharpened, seemingly able to pierce through any obstacle, burning with raging fury. He clenched his fists tightly, veins bulging, his face contorted with rage. He led Su Yunruo and Nangong Sheng on their way to the Shen family.

Their hearts were in their throats the whole way; a tense atmosphere permeated the air, as if it could freeze. They moved forward cautiously, afraid of being discovered, and with each step, their unease grew. Finally, the gate of the Shen family came into view. The once vermilion gate was now stained with blood and teetering on the verge of collapse, seemingly telling the story of the fierce battle that had taken place.

Entering the Shen family compound, one was greeted by utter devastation. Walls had collapsed, windows were shattered, and the ground was littered with broken bricks, tiles, and furniture. A pungent, nauseating stench of blood filled the air. Yuwen Mo's face grew increasingly grim as his gaze rapidly swept across the surroundings, searching for any possible clues. His eyes were sharp as an eagle's, not missing a single detail.

"Who did this?!" Nangong Sheng roared, his voice echoing in the empty courtyard, filled with anger and resentment. He clenched his fists, his body trembling slightly, his eyes flashing with fury.

Su Yunruo bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes, but she forced them back. "Senior Brother, quickly find Master and Grandmaster!" Her heart was filled with worry and anger; she vowed to find the murderers and avenge the Shen family. She gripped her sword tightly, ready to fight the enemy at any moment.

Just then, Yuwen Mo keenly noticed some strange footprints on the ground, footprints that looked like they were left by someone fleeing from here. He immediately realized this might be an important clue, so he whispered to the two of them, "Follow me!"

The three followed the footprints to the backyard when suddenly a dark shadow flashed past them, moving with lightning speed. Yuwen Mo frowned, and without hesitation, his figure transformed into a blur, giving chase. His speed was astonishing, as if he had merged into the night, instantly disappearing into the darkness.

The dark figure moved with incredible speed, darting through the courtyard with effortless ease, seemingly intimately familiar with the terrain. Yuwen Mo and the others pursued relentlessly, not daring to let their guard down for a moment, lest the figure escape. After a chase, they finally intercepted the figure behind a rockery.

The shadowy figure turned around, and in the moonlight, a狰狞 (zhengning, meaning ferocious or hideous) and twisted face appeared before them. Its eyes gleamed with a fierce light that sent chills down their spines. "You won't stop our plan!" the shadowy figure said viciously, its voice tinged with despair and resolve.

Yuwen Mo snorted coldly, a hint of disdain flashing in his eyes. He coldly replied, "No matter what schemes or tricks you have, you won't escape today!" Before his words even finished, he leaped forward, his long sword gleaming coldly, aiming straight for the shadowy figure's vitals. Seeing this, the shadowy figure hurriedly dodged to the side, but Yuwen Mo's attacks came like a storm, giving the opponent no chance to breathe.

Meanwhile, Su Yunruo and Nangong Sheng were not to be outdone, and they both stepped in to help. Working together seamlessly, they surrounded the shadowy figure and engaged in a thrilling battle. For a moment, the backyard was filled with the clashing of swords and the flying sparks, the atmosphere reaching a fever pitch.

In the midst of the fierce battle, Yuwen Mo flashed forward, his longsword striking the shadowy figure like lightning. The figure couldn't dodge in time and was pierced in the arm. The shadowy figure cried out in pain, slowing its movements slightly.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Su Yunruo unleashed a fierce sword technique, her sword moves as venomous as a snake's tongue, making them impossible to defend against. The shadowy figure struggled to keep up, sustaining multiple injuries.

Nangong Sheng, meanwhile, waited patiently for an opportunity to deliver a fatal blow. The shadowy figure gradually fell into a disadvantageous position, but he still resisted stubbornly, refusing to surrender easily.

Yuwen Mo roared, "Die!" With that, he swung his sword with all his might, the sword energy like a rainbow, piercing directly through the black figure's chest. The black figure screamed and fell to the ground, blood staining the ground red.

Yuwen Mo stepped forward and kicked the shadowy figure to confirm he was incapacitated. He coldly asked, "Speak! Who sent you?"

The shadowy figure remained silent, only glaring at Yuwen Mo with eyes filled with hatred.

"You won't talk, huh?" Yuwen Mo crouched down and grabbed the shadowy figure by the throat. The shadowy figure turned pale and struggled to breathe. But he still gritted his teeth and refused to speak.

"I...I'll talk..." the shadowy figure managed to say, the voice barely audible, as if squeezed out from between his teeth. Yuwen Mo frowned, his gaze fixed on the figure, awaiting his next words. The shadowy figure took a deep breath, trying to calm himself: "It's...it's the Shadow Cult."

Yuwen Mo's face instantly turned extremely grim. He never expected that this sudden attack would once again be linked to the Shadow Cult. A hint of anger and confusion flashed in his eyes. Why was the Shadow Cult so obsessed with Qingyu Manor? Was it really just for power?

"Why did they attack the Shen family?" Yuwen Mo's voice was deep and serious, carrying an undeniable authority. The shadowy figure seemed to sense the powerful aura emanating from Yuwen Mo, and his body trembled involuntarily. He gasped for breath, saying haltingly, "To capture the Qingyu Manor Master and his wife..."

Upon hearing this answer, Yuwen Mo, Nangong Sheng, and Su Yunruo were all shocked. Master? Mistress? They exchanged incredulous glances, a sense of foreboding washing over them. The Lord of Qingyu Manor was their beloved master; if he were captured by the Shadow Cult, the consequences would be unimaginable. Yuwen Mo clenched his fists tightly, his eyes flashing with unwavering determination. He absolutely could not allow such a thing to happen!
