Chapter 0 A Vast Fortune

With everyone working together, the boats were quickly filled, and those who couldn't get on board had to wait for the next trip.

Wutong asked Zhao Sanyang and a few people who knew how to row to take them across first. After the boat left the shore, she couldn't help but look at the large tent with concern.

Why haven't Nanxing and Ruolan arrived yet?

Just then, I saw Ruolan and a sallow-faced, thin woman helping Mr. and Mrs. Zhou run over, their hands full of packages.

The woman looked familiar; she must be Zhou Pan'an's first wife.

Nanxing ran ahead, and after seeing Wutong, he nodded to indicate that his mission was complete.

Wutong casually ruffled his hair. She strode forward, took the package from Ruolan's hands, and helped her support her mother-in-law.

Why did it take you so long to come out?

Ruolan said, "We need to pack things up. There's still more than half of it left to do. Pan'an and the maid are still there to finish it."

Wutong frowned: "What time is it? Why are you still worrying about things like this?"

Old Master Zhou grumbled, "We can't just ignore it! So many of them were bought with real money, and I'm leaving them for my grandson!"

Wutong glanced at him, said nothing, and helped them to the shore.

As soon as they stopped, Zhao Sanyang and several boatmen rowed back, all panting heavily, practically turning the oars into electric motors.

"How's the situation over there?" Wutong asked seriously.

Zhao Sanyang grinned and waved his hand: "No problem, it definitely won't drown."

So she let go of the matter and sent the rest of the people onto the boat, including Mr. and Mrs. Zhou, and their "legal wife" daughter-in-law.

She reached out her hand again, but no one offered her theirs, leaving her bewildered.

Looking back, Ruolan was standing there in a panic, carrying a bundle that was probably full of her savings.

Aren't you coming up?

"I...I want to wait for Pan'an to come back so we can get on the ship together."

Wutong said, "There's no need. I will definitely send him there. Don't worry, I won't let you become a widow."

Ruolan shook her head: "That's not what I'm worried about. I'm not happy about him being with that bitch! If anyone's leaving, it'll be me going with him!"

Wutong was slightly taken aback, but Zhao Sanyang smoothed things over: "It's okay, just let her wait here. We'll send her over as soon as possible, and then I'll come back and bring everyone over."

Wutong nodded, watching the boat leave.

Right now, only she, Nanxing, Ruolan, and Zhou Pan'an and his maid are left on this hilltop.

The water submerged most of the mountain, so they had to move uphill, and uphill some more.

Ruolan wasn't heartless either, and she took the initiative to say, "Wutong, we really owe you a lot this time, otherwise we would still be stuck on the mountaintop."

Wutong smiled and said, "We came here to provide rescue."

Nanxing silently took a pear out of his pocket. He had taken it from Ruolan's fruit plate when he went to call her. He wiped it with his sleeve and handed it to Wutong, saying, "Eat a pear."

Wutong was both amused and exasperated. She had no appetite at all; her heart was pounding with anxiety.

Nanxing didn't mind, stuffed it back into her pocket, and said, "Then we'll eat it next time."

After waiting for a while, Zhao Sanyang returned, and was stunned when he saw it. He exclaimed, "Why haven't they come out yet?"

Wutong was also anxious and made Ruolan shout their names, saying that if they didn't come out soon, they would miss their chance.

This trick worked! Soon, a stumbling figure rushed out from behind the curtain. Upon closer inspection, everyone realized it was a maid.

The maid was carrying a large bundle in her arms. She ran around making a clattering sound, her hair was disheveled, and there was a bright red handprint on her cheek.

Ruolan saw her disappointment: "Why did you come here by yourself? Where's Pan'an?"

"Young Master..." the maid cried, aggrieved, "He insisted on taking the gold from the bed too, and when I said there wasn't enough time, he hit me..."

Wutong hadn't expected Zhou Pan'an to be such a money-grubbing person. She took a deep breath and said, "Let's talk about it once we're on the boat."

At this moment, another wave of rapid water surged over, and the water level had already reached the bottom of the tent, with everyone's feet soaked in the water.

The maid and Nanxing were pulled onto the boat by Zhao Sanyang. Ruolan cried anxiously, "I can't let him drown! We have to take him with us! Wutong, could you send your men to call for him again?"

Wutong flipped herself onto the boat and said, "Whose life isn't a life?"

Running over there now would be like jumping into a fire pit.

Ruolan cried her heart out. The water washed over her legs, thighs, and gradually reached her waist. Wutong gave Zhao Sanyang and Nanxing a look, and the three of them worked together to pull her onto the boat.

"Zhou Pan'an! You cripple, come out here!" Ruolan stared intently at the tent, her eyes bloodshot.

Without Zhou Pan'an, the life and status she had worked so hard to achieve would be gone, and all her efforts would have been in vain!

The water had submerged a large part of the tent. As soon as the curtain moved, Zhou Pan'an finally came out.

He carried a large board on his shoulder, which shimmered with gold. Presumably, the gold couldn't be knocked off, so he carried the bed board along with it.

He was stunned when he saw the situation outside, because he hadn't expected it to be so serious.

Water was everywhere, and behind him was the only isolated island.

Zhao Sanyang shouted, "Run over here quickly!"

Zhou Pan'an hesitated, pressing his back against the tent, and said nervously, "No, no, there's no road there."

Zhao Sanyang said, "The water isn't deep, run! Otherwise you'll miss your chance!"

Zhou Pan'an stared intently at the water, cheering himself on, and gritted his teeth as he charged forward.

Pfft!

He tripped over the natural stove he had dug in the ground, fell backward, and splashed a large amount of water.

The fall not only left him dazed and confused, but also caused the gold-inlaid bed frame to disappear without a trace.

Zhou Pan'an was distraught and limped around in the water, groping for something.

"Do you want to die? Forget about that broken board! Do you want to die?"

With Zhao Sanyang's angry shout, Nanxing shot out the stone in his hand, hitting Zhou Pan'an squarely on the forehead. He finally came to his senses, abandoned the plank, and ran forward desperately.

However, he was lame and the current was strong, so his speed was very slow.

Zhao Sanyang picked up the oar and rowed towards him, but the current was very erratic, and he could only spin around in place for a long time, which was quite frustrating.

The top of the tent was submerged and completely disappeared, leaving only a small peak of less than three square meters on the mountaintop.

Zhou Pan'an's feet could no longer touch the ground, and since he wasn't a good swimmer, he could only paddle around in the water like a dog.

Ruolan lay on the edge of the boat, crying out, "Please hurry and save him! He's drowning!"
