The Strongest Magician of Gods

Chapter 73: An Unexpected Encounter

As dusk fell, the sparse crowd in the square suddenly increased.

A group of children were playing and crying, but soon they would be jumping around again.

As the crowd grew larger, Mo Bei finally noticed something amiss.

Every time he moved forward, the surrounding crowd suddenly tensed up. They looked at Mo Bei with flustered expressions, and some even kept their distance, avoiding him and trying to talk to him.

"Strange, do I look fierce? Why is everyone avoiding me?"

Mo Bei was stunned. The surroundings had been filled with laughter, but as soon as he arrived, the area suddenly fell silent, and everyone became completely quiet.

He seriously doubted whether he was really any different.

"What's going on? These people seem very afraid of me. Is there blood on me? That shouldn't be the case!" Mo Bei wondered.

"Forget it, these people are making me feel uneasy."

Mo Bei muttered to himself, his body involuntarily slowly moving away from the crowd and arriving at the side of the fountain where there were fewer people.

He peered into the water; it was nearing dusk, and there was still light on the horizon.

Mo Bei's reflection was on the water's surface; her hair wasn't too messy, and her face remained delicate and pretty.

"Damn it, this is really weird, do I really look that much like a ghost?"

Mo Bei saw from a distance that a couple a few feet away from him suddenly saw him, panicked, and turned around and rushed to the other side.

"Hey"

With Mo Bei's loud shout, the couple, whose backs were the only visible figures, were so frightened that their legs trembled.

"Aren't mages supposed to be very popular on the Magic Continent? Why isn't it the same here? Is there some kind of ranking system, like a title of nobility, involved?"

Mo Bei was puzzled again. The ancient books in the library of Austin Magic Academy, dating back thousands of years, showed that magicians were always prominent figures in the books.

Why is everything different here?

A magician is like a candle, whose lifelong will is to protect humanity by burning himself out. Is there anything wrong with that?

"A magician? Oh, I see."

Mo Bei looked at his magic robe and suddenly realized that he had forgotten to change his clothes before leaving. He had been encountering magicians every day since arriving in this world, and he had thought that there were very few ordinary humans on this magical continent!

Mo Bei instantly felt bored. He had wanted to talk to people, but everyone was avoiding him. There was something hidden behind this, a secret between magicians and ordinary humans.

Those who write ancient magical books are all magicians, so the glory naturally falls upon magicians.

"No wonder so many people cultivate battle qi. Perhaps the predecessors who created battle qi came from these commoners."

Mo Bei thought contentedly as his body quickly disappeared beside the huge spring.

Naturally, his departure was known to all the common people, who all felt as if they had survived a calamity.

"That young man is a magician, but why would a magician be here?"

Some people had doubts in their hearts. Magicians were high and mighty beings to them, and even if they met them, they would not dare to take the initiative to talk to them.

Especially some exceptionally talented magical geniuses have hundreds of servants, unlike Mo Bei who is all alone.

Following the gazes of the crowd on the street, Mo Bei's expression gradually became more serious. So many people were looking at him, their eyes filled with a hint of fear.

Being treated like a monkey to be observed, and having to be wary of him like a lion, is an atmosphere he cannot accept.

In an instant, he knew that the Magic Continent was not a very friendly world, and that there were many secrets worth exploring in order to avoid being betrayed in the future.

What kind of world is this? Is it a world where the strong rule, or where factions divide the land based on their power?

Mo Bei pondered as he walked down the main road of the square, and gradually the number of pedestrians on the road became less and less.

Rows of ancient trees line both sides of the road. Above them, dazzling neon lights illuminate the scene.

"Hoo"

"Hoo"

At this moment, the sounds of magic being cast could be heard from time to time.

Mo Bei was alert, half-hidden behind an ancient tree, inwardly cursing his carelessness. Given his current condition, he shouldn't have gone so far, especially while wearing a magic robe. If he encountered trouble, things would be terrible.

Mo Bei listened carefully to the magical vibrations surrounding him, and he gradually relaxed.

"It seems someone is practicing magic. Judging from the magic power, the strength is unstable and the level is not high. The level should be below that of a beginner magician. As for what level of magic apprentice they are, it is not clear yet."

Mo Bei looked around but didn't move. He squatted down and listened to the fluctuations of magical power.

"Hmm, judging from the sound of the magic fluctuations, he should be a fire magic apprentice. But what's strange is that even though his magic is very stable, it always feels like his magic is too scattered when he's practicing."

Mo Bei couldn't understand it. Even the lowest quality magic wand wouldn't cause any dispersion when practicing magic. It was as if the magic power hadn't even been ejected from the wand before it exploded inside. But strangely, this was happening to the beggar.

The magic chamber exploded, but the person was repeatedly blown up without getting hurt, which is quite strange.

Mo Beiqiao stared, trying to figure out what this magic apprentice was doing.

"Swish"

Mo Bei looked towards the area with only a few ancient trees on both sides, where an eleven or twelve-year-old boy was repeatedly practicing his magic control by hugging the withered branches on the tree forks.

Each time he practiced magic, a dry branch would burn away, and the boy would silently pick up another branch and continue practicing.

"I see."

Mo Bei looked the boy up and down. The boy was wearing patched clothes, with several more patches sewn on top of some of the existing ones.

"It's because we don't have a magic wand that we're using dry branches to train. A low-quality magic wand costs about twenty silver coins."

Mo Bei watched quietly for a while before stepping forward.

"Young man, what is your name, and how long have you been practicing magic?"

Mo Bei smiled kindly. As an instructor at Austin Magic Academy, he should be humble and polite to any magic apprentice.

The young man was clearly flustered under the cover of night. Seeing the magician who had suddenly appeared in front of him, he was excited but also a little panicked.

After all, this was the first magician who was willing to talk to him, and the man was approachable and had no airs of a magician.

In an instant, the young man developed a liking for Mo Bei.

"Greetings, esteemed magician. I...I...my name is Shi Lei, I am eleven years old, and I have been practicing magic for seven years, starting when I was three."

Shi Lei answered in a panic. He was fine if he didn't speak, but once he opened his mouth, he couldn't stop trembling all over.

"Oh, so night has fallen, why aren't you going back yet?" Mo Bei asked in surprise.

"In reply to the Magician, I am currently at a bottleneck in opening up the source of magic, and the Austin Magic Academy will soon be recruiting magic apprentices. I want to hone the power of my magic more in order to meet the Austin Magic Academy's recruitment standards."

Shi Lei trembled slightly, afraid that the young magician in front of him would look down on him, which was why he told the whole story. After all, Austin Magic Academy was one of the four major academies in Austin City. Even if he couldn't get in, the reputation of being a failed student of Austin Magic Academy was enough to make people envious.

"Oh, you're going to take the entrance exam for Austin Magic Academy."

Mo Bei smiled, having learned from the boy's words that Austin Magic Academy had recently made some moves.
