The Strongest Magician of Gods

Chapter 41: Mysterious Patterns

The dark space was silent and desolate. The entire cellar had been reduced to ruins, and the huge stone pillar had been cut in two and disintegrated.

"cough cough"

After a long silence, the space was broken by a series of rapid coughs.

"crash"

Mo Bei pushed away the stone that was pressing down on him, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, looking utterly disheveled.

His body had also been severely damaged by the storm, with wounds exposed and blood gradually spreading.

"Thankfully, I'm still alive."

Mo Bei coughed violently, his limbs trembled, and his bloodshot eyes scanned the ruins as he dragged himself along in a disheveled state.

"I'm so unlucky. I've been fighting non-stop since I came to this world, and each battle is more terrifying than the last."

Mo Bei complained, undoubtedly this battle had left a deep shadow on him.

"I almost forgot about the real thing."

Mo Bei curled his lip, looked around again, and then, supporting himself on the surrounding stone walls, walked step by step into the depths of the cellar.

The space was still so cold and damp. He coughed incessantly, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, and walked forward listlessly.

Not far ahead, a chill permeated the air, and splashes of water scattered everywhere. At the end of the cellar, the surrounding cliffs were damp and covered with lush green moss.

However, on one wall, a huge black iron chain pierced through the collarbone of an old man with white hair and beard, went straight through his spine, and hung on the cliff.

As far as the eye could see, the black iron chain was stained crimson with blood, which naturally flowed from the blood hole between the collarbones on the back.

At this moment, Mo Bei's eyes trembled slightly as he looked at the old man's pained expression, which was so tragic.

Clearly, the old man had been tortured terribly by Ronan. The iron chains, as thick as a forearm, tore through his flesh and extended out of his spine. How many people could endure such pain?

"Your Excellency, Principal"

Mo Bei's eyes welled up with tears in an instant, and a sense of sorrow blossomed in her heart. It was truly too cruel.

"Principal, it's me, Mo Bei."

Mo Beiming's clear voice rang in the old man's ears. The old man raised his head slightly, his cloudy eyes extremely murky.

"crash"

Mo Bei jumped up and down, grabbing the iron chain attached to the corner of the wall. He slowly loosened his grip, and the old man grimaced. Mo Bei's series of movements had clearly made him feel more pain, but the old man did not utter a sound and endured it.

"crash"

The iron chains finally loosened, and Mo Bei carried the old man to the ground. Then he bent down and gently helped the old man sit up against the stone wall, the iron chains behind his back clanging.

"I never imagined that you would be the one to save me, nor did I expect Ronan to treat me like this," the old headmaster sighed.

In the past, Mo Bei's magical constitution had disrupted his cultivation, and his realm was always on the verge of collapse. He often had to trouble the old man to intimidate the magic apprentices in the academy. How could he have imagined that one day the old man would save him from his predicament?

The space seemed to freeze at that moment, and Mo Bei listened quietly to his story.

"Well, Ronan just wanted to find out the secret of the forbidden magic passed down by my clan from me. It's ridiculous that I have never found the forbidden magic passed down by my clan in my entire life. How laughable."

Tears welled in the old man's eyes; perhaps it was a past event he was extremely reluctant to mention.

“My clan has already declined, so where would we find any forbidden magic? Ronan is really too foolish.”

The old headmaster lamented that he was too weak and was muttering incoherently.

"I am a sinner of the Austin family. I have spent my entire life failing to restore the family to its former glory. Now I am old and have accomplished nothing. Even the magic academy founded by my ancestors has fallen into such a state of decline, becoming a laughing stock of the world." The old headmaster said, his eyes gradually becoming moist.

Mo Bei listened quietly to the old principal's complaints, coughing occasionally. Looking at the old man's pitiful appearance, his heavily injured body slowly bent down.

He reached out and began to trim the old man's dirty, disheveled hair. Suddenly, his hand trembled slightly as he reached around the old man's neck, and then something strange happened.

"chi"

As Mo Bei's arm slid down to the old man's right shoulder, suddenly, for some reason, an Austin family badge worn around the old man's neck pierced Mo Bei's arm.

Mo Bei felt a slight pain, and when he pushed up his sleeve slightly, he saw tiny blood spots, about the size of pinheads, on his arm.

Mo Bei ignored him and continued to tidy the old man's messy silver hair, his gaze slowly falling on the huge iron chain behind his back, lost in thought.

"chichi"

Just then, the tiny bloodstain, hidden beneath his clothes, began to shimmer with an unusual light. After a brief flash, a tiny, mysterious mark suddenly appeared on Mo Bei's arm.

The mysterious, jet-black patterns seemed to be etched onto Mo Bei's skin, like a tattoo, but the texture was so rough and stiff.

"Hoo"

Mo Bei channeled his magic power, and with a flick of his magic wand, a black flame appeared beneath the iron chains on the old man's back, beginning to burn.

The black flames were terrifying. Mo Bei circulated the black flames throughout his body and condensed them to the extreme, reducing them to the size of a spark. However, the power of the flames was increased several times over.

"chichi"

A flash of black flame appeared, and Mo Bei controlled his magic wand to make a stroke, leaving a mark on the iron chain. After several minutes of effort...

"crash"

The iron chain was finally severed by the black flames. Mo Bei was drenched in sweat, and even his last bit of magic power was gone.

"Suo Suo"

Afterwards, with the old principal's approval, Mo Bei pulled the iron chain away from the old principal's back, and a sharp pain spread through the old man's body.

The old man gradually became delirious; perhaps the pain had caused him to temporarily lose consciousness.

“What a hassle”

Mo Bei muttered to himself as he carried the old principal out of the depths of the cellar.

He coughed intermittently, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth, looking horribly injured.

"Huff huff"

Strangely, when Mo Bei arrived at the place where he was fighting Ronan, he suddenly felt a terrifying, cold sensation on his arm.

The chill seeped into his very bones, like a block of ancient ice pressed against Mo Bei's warm skin. He shivered from the cold, his right arm trembling uncontrollably, but he forced himself to endure the discomfort.

At this moment, the runes on the skin of the arm suddenly flashed down from the size of a pinhead to the size of a fingernail, and the lines became even darker and deeper.

"Could it be that he caught a chill?"

Mo Bei muttered to himself, his body was now severely injured, and after spending so much time in such a damp and cold cellar, it was possible that he had caught a cold.

Mo Bei snapped out of his daze, wanting only to get here quickly. With a swift movement, he passed through the cellar and arrived at the collapsed hall.

During the battle with Ronan, much of the palace collapsed again, and the original routes became even more blocked.

It took Mo Bei quite a while to emerge from the palace, then he entered the dark cave entrance and spent a considerable amount of time in the hidden door of the library.

"How did Ronan get out?"

Mo Bei pondered for a moment, then searched for the switch to the hidden door next to him.

"Crunch, crunch"

Sure enough, there were hidden doors on the cave walls, and magic arrays quickly came to life, deep and heavy.

A dozen or so star trails shimmered with an unusual luster, and Mo Bei felt a surge of anticipation.

"Boom"

The hidden door shook and extended from east to west. Mo Bei, carrying the old man on his back, stepped into the library.
