Daily life of farming and supporting a family on the ancient Loess Plateau
Chapter 624 Thanks
Chapter 624 Thanks
That's where the story ends. If I continued writing, it would become a completely different story.
Thank you so much to everyone who has followed this far. I've seen every single one of your clicks to follow and your daily donations; these are my biggest motivation and what has kept me writing this far. There's still so much more I want to write, but I'm just too exhausted to continue.
This is my first time writing a story, purely a sudden inspiration, an impulsive act. There's no outline, no golden three chapters, no template, I don't know how to engage the reader's emotions, there are no twists and turns—I lack all the basic abilities that online novel authors possess.
But what to do?
As someone who isn't naturally gifted, no matter how bad the story or how poor the writing, I still want to give it a complete ending. After all, to me, they really seem like my friends, and their stories seem real. How could I bear to let their lives come to an abrupt end?
To be honest, I never imagined I could write this much. Initially, I just wanted to write two or three hundred thousand words to practice, but it kept getting longer and longer. Later, since not many people were reading it, I thought I'd stop at five or seven hundred thousand words. But the story had progressed that far; I couldn't let it end abruptly!
The initial idea was to end with the female protagonist passing away, during which time the story would include the deaths of Grandpa Ji and Madam Yang, the deep brotherly bond between Ji Manchuan and his brother as they faced their elders' passing and other setbacks together, the mutual trust and affection between Jia Ronghua and Hu Xirong, and the story of Guowa and Shaowa repaying a debt of gratitude...
The world is complex and chaotic, but there are always beautiful things that move and inspire us. Since I've taken up my pen, as the author, I want to imbue my characters with admirable qualities or fleeting moments, hoping they will live long, warm, and peaceful lives.
But the story is too long, and readers will probably get tired of it. Let's give them an ending while there are still readers.
I have always loved Loess Plateau literature. My biggest dream is to take root in the Loess Plateau, be accompanied by books, make a living by writing, take walks in the fields in my spare time, chat with the old people in the village when I'm bored, and watch the sun rise and set, the years go by, and the seasons change.
But the reality is that you have to work hard to make a living.
I never thought about writing online novels before, because I knew my own level, let alone the possibility of making a living from them and realizing my past dreams.
But last year, by chance, I came across a quote from an author. She said that if it weren't for money, I would write whatever I wanted when I first started writing a novel, whatever I liked, and if I enjoyed writing it, that would be enjoyment.
So, in my middle age, I bravely ventured into the world of online literature. Just as I had imagined, I became a long-time flop like Tomato, but I don't regret it. Life is about trying different things, about investing your greatest passion in certain things. When it comes to what you love, the outcome becomes less important.
More than a million words, more than a year of day and night. I don't know if I'll ever have such a life experience again, but this time, I was completely immersed in it. In my opinion, the joys and sorrows along the way are more valuable than the final result.
I love the vastness of the Loess Plateau, the boldness of the Northwestern people, and the soaring, poignant spirit of folk songs, ballads, and Qinqiang opera. Completing a journey through the Loess Plateau has filled me with immense satisfaction. Thank you all for your support!
Dear friends, thank you for the journey we've taken. The road ahead is long, may we meet again!
treasure!!!
