Adorable Kids in Space: Lucky Wife is So Carefree

Chapter 71 Is Zhuangzi really that cheap?

The house built by the owner is quite large; it took a long time to walk around. There are large trees planted around the house, so it is warm in winter and cool in summer, and it is not hot to walk around in summer.

It was a three-courtyard house, built from the middle of the estate, with courtyards and gardens extending all the way to the foot of the mountain.

The design certainly took a lot of effort, but it wasn't as luxurious as the houses on the street, nor did it have any dragon or phoenix carvings. It was probably to match the pastoral style of this place, with a gray, white and black color scheme. The entire layout was outlined by the garden, simple yet grand.

There was one gatehouse on each side of the main gate.

The front yard only had three large main rooms, which were probably only used for receiving guests. There were long corridors on both sides leading directly to the inner courtyard.

Near the long corridor, there is a green screen that leads to a small courtyard, a tea room, and a small kitchen, which serve as an auxiliary function for receiving guests in the front hall. Without being introduced, outsiders would not be able to tell it's there.

The second courtyard was where the owners lived, and its layout was different from what Ruxiu had imagined. The three main houses were all very large, and each had its own partitioned rooms. They were similar to modern one-bedroom or two-bedroom apartments, except they lacked a kitchen and bathroom. It turns out that suites were not unique to modern times.

The further in you go, the wider it gets. By the third section, it is divided into three small courtyards, each with an elegant name: "Mountain Retreat," "Bamboo Dwelling," and "Green Delight."

Each courtyard is quite large, easily accommodating one family, and fully equipped with servants' quarters, a small kitchen, and a latrine, each with its own unique design.

Ru Xiu particularly liked the courtyard called "Qizhu," which was simple yet elegant.

Further on was the garden, where there was a pavilion with a round table. Old Master Zhang plopped down on the stool, panting, and said, "I'm not going any further. You can walk around here a bit more."

They must have walked several miles along the way, which was indeed a bit difficult for him. Ru Xiu and Tang Ershi continued to follow Li Zhuangtou.

"What are those houses in the back used for?" I saw a row of small houses with green bricks and tiles, arranged in a strange circle, not built in a very regular way.

Li Zhuangtou quickly took one key from a bunch of keys and opened the front door.

"This is a hot spring, but the water flow isn't as strong as other people's. This is for the owner's own use, and it's usually kept closed if the owner doesn't come here regularly," Li Zhuangtou explained.

Listening to what Master Zhang said on the way here, it was clear that he didn't know there was a hot spring in the village, which was a pleasant surprise.

"The hot spring here is quite hot; an egg will be cooked in less than 15 minutes, so you can't soak in it directly."

Li Zhuangtou pointed to the pools in front of him: "The first few pools are for diversion and transition, and the last three pools are for soaking. The temperature is different in each one." Ru Xiu tried the water temperature and it was just right. If she was tired from working, it would be so comfortable to lie down in it.

Each pool has a winding cobblestone path along its edge, with a stone-paved slope and plenty of flowers and plants. One of the pools even has a curved roof made of glazed tiles, making it comparable to modern hot spring valleys specifically for tourists.

Apart from a tea room, the other houses in that row were for the owners to rest in; though small, they were fully functional.

Looking at Ru Xiu's sparkling eyes and her face practically screaming with satisfaction, Tang Ershi really wanted to just pay the money and buy it, to give to his beloved wife.

After more than three years, he raided the enemy camp once, won several battles, and captured and distributed a lot of spoils. A few months later, he went to the palace and received a reward from the emperor, plus a considerable reward from the general.

Tang Ershi was troubled by how to spend his money without his wife noticing and even accepting it. He felt he must be the most miserable general in the world.

Back at the pavilion, Master Zhang, having drunk too much tea, asked Li Zhuangtou to lead him to the restroom. Tang Ershi quickly followed, and since everyone has to go to the toilet, he didn't pay much attention, just staring blankly at the beautiful scenery.

When Li Zhuangtou led Ruxiu back to the front yard again, two cups of tea's time had passed.

They found that Master Zhang and Tang Ershi were already there. There was another person in the main hall. This person was slightly older than Master Zhang, and he was also a kind-hearted and plump man with a smiling face.

Master Li hurriedly took a few steps to bow, then quickly retreated.

"This is Master Wei." Ru Xiu quickly greeted him.

Master Wei invited them to sit down and served tea.

Master Wei sat in the middle, Master Zhang and Brother Tang each sat on one side, and Ru Xiu sat at the lower seat, which Ru Xiu did not find strange.

It's possible that Master Wei regarded Tang Erge as his husband, or it's because in ancient times, men were superior to women, and women could not be on equal footing with men.

Master Wei treated Brother Tang with utmost respect, and even Master Zhang, who knew the truth, changed his attitude. Ru Xiu even began to doubt Brother Tang's identity. Could they be old acquaintances?

"Is Madam Ruxiu satisfied with this estate? If it seems alright, we can discuss the rest further," Master Wei said with a smile, looking at Ruxiu.

"This place is so beautiful, it's like a paradise for immortals. Ru Xiu naturally has no complaints. The estate is so exquisite, Master Wei must have put a lot of effort into it and spent a lot of money. I'm afraid Ru Xiu can't afford it even if she wants to!" Ru Xiu still has some self-awareness. This estate probably costs thousands of taels of silver to buy. Thinking of her "spendthrift" life in her previous life, Ru Xiu couldn't help but shudder.

"If Madam Ruxiu likes it, she can take the five hundred taels. Anyway, I don't want to manage it anymore. It's rare for the estates around here to change hands."

The Moyuan Garden in Qinghe Town is only a two-courtyard house, yet it costs 300 taels of silver. This huge estate in the county town, complete with a hot spring, only costs 500 taels of silver. Master Zhang's influence is too great!

Ru Xiu was very surprised and a little unsure of what to do.

Seeing Master Zhang smiling at her, Ru Xiu couldn't help but glance at Tang Erge. She saw that Tang Erge also nodded slightly, and only then did she dare to believe that it was true.

"Then I'll take advantage of Master Wei's kindness and Master Zhang's favor." Ru Xiu smiled mischievously, indicating the deal was done.

Master Wei and Master Zhang turned around and laughed heartily with Tang Erge: "Then this matter is settled. We can sign a contract and hand it over to you. This afternoon, we'll have the steward go to the yamen to exchange it for a red deed, and that'll be it!"
