Chapter 79

In the instant I was stunned, Gu Jinhuai scooped me up and put me on the bed.

I heard the sound of running water and watched the man slowly approach me. I instinctively rolled to the side, pulled the blanket off, and covered myself tightly. My wet eyes stared at him warily.

Gu Jinhuai looked at me, chuckled, and lay down on the other side of the bed, folding his hands behind his head and staring at the ceiling.

After a moment, seemingly noticing my gaze, he turned his head slightly, his dark eyes filled with a hint of mockery: "What are you looking at?"

Who's looking at you?

I rolled my eyes at him and turned my back to him.

I didn't sleep well at night. Every time I was with Gu Jinhuai, I would dream that in my past life he ruthlessly abandoned me and Momo, and in the end Momo came out of the operating room with a pale face and closed her eyes forever.

"Mo Mo, no..."

I gasped and sat bolt upright in bed, my forehead covered in sweat, my heart pounding, and my whole body trembling.

Who is Momo?

Suddenly, Gu Jinhuai's cold voice rang in my ears.

My gaze drifted to Gu Jinhuai, who was already sitting to the side in a suit and tie, his chin resting on his hand, staring at me intently. I felt a chill run down my spine from his gaze.

He feigned composure and withdrew his gaze, his tone turning cold: "It's nothing!"

As soon as I threw off the covers and got out of bed, Gu Jinhuai stepped forward and grabbed my wrist, his tone cold: "Where are you going?"

Annoyance flashed across my face. I shook off his hand and retorted coldly, "What's it to you?"

I went straight to the bathroom, looked at my face in the mirror, my eyes reddened, and I murmured softly, "Momo, it's Mom's fault for letting you down."

I sobbed softly, not daring to cry out loud for fear that Gu Jinhuai would find out.

When I came out, Gu Jinhuai was no longer there. I glanced at him, packed my things, and went to school to register. Only after settling in did I start looking for a place to live.

I will be studying at S University for the next year.

Just then, Fu Yiran called. I glanced at it and answered the phone.

"Hey, senior!"

I called out softly.

"Su Qi said you came yesterday, why didn't you tell me?"

Fu Yiran deliberately sounded a bit angry.

I knew he was joking, so I quickly explained, "It was too late yesterday, so I didn't bother you."

"I was just kidding. Are you still at school? It's almost lunchtime. I'll take you to lunch."

Fu Yiran paused for a second, as if afraid I would refuse, and continued, "You are not allowed to refuse, as we agreed before."

I hesitated for a moment, but finally agreed.

Ten minutes later, a white sedan pulled up to the side of the road. The window rolled down, revealing Fu Yiran's handsome face, who looked at me with a constant smile.

I walked over with a smile and got into the car.

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Fu Yiran chuckled softly, looked at me, and smiled back.

"haven't seen you for a long time."

Even though we haven't seen each other for so long, we still have a lot to talk about, just like old friends who haven't seen each other in a long time. We had a great time together and learned about each other's lives recently.

The weather was bad today, it was gloomy and rainy, so Fu Yiran took me out for hot pot.

"The hot pot here is delicious, you should try it."

Fu Yiran stopped the car and led me into the hot pot restaurant.

The gilded sign outside looked high-end, and inside, the lights were dazzling, the waiters had natural and polite smiles, and the service was excellent.

There is an empty space in the middle, and in the very center is an automatic water feature with a small artificial mountain model standing in the middle. Various kinds of fish are in the water, and the sound of flowing water combined with light music creates a unique atmosphere.

The guests were very quiet, and the long corridor with booths on both sides provided excellent privacy for the guests.

"Let's go."

I followed Fu Yiran into the reserved area.

I sat opposite Fu Yiran. The store was warm. I took off my coat, revealing a light khaki turtleneck sweater underneath and a black A-line long skirt.

What kind of soup would you like?

Fu Yiran pushed up his glasses and asked me.

"Tomato bar."

I thought about it for a moment and then answered.

"Okay, then one tomato and one mildly spicy."

Fu Yiran said to the waiter.

"Let's order."

Fu Yiran pushed the tablet in front of me, asking me to order. I glanced at it, hesitated for a moment, and then said, "Let's order together."

"it is good."

A faint smile flashed in Fu Yiran's eyes. For convenience, Fu Yiran sat down next to me. We both looked down at the tablet and talked, our heads close together.

"I think this is also acceptable."

"it is good."

The waiter was quick, and the hot pot with two broths was served. We were enjoying our meal when my phone rang. It was an unknown number, and I didn't answer it.

"Why didn't you answer?"

Fu Yiran looked at me and asked in confusion.

"Don't answer spam calls."

At first I didn't pay much attention, but then the number kept calling. I frowned slightly and answered it subconsciously, but when I heard Gu Jinhuai's voice on the other end, my hand paused while eating, and I subconsciously looked up and around.

"Stop looking, it's on the second floor."

As I listened to what the other person was saying, I suddenly looked up and saw Gu Jinhuai holding his phone in one hand and resting his other hand lightly on the armrest. Even though we were far apart, his eyes made me feel cold. My back stiffened, and after noticing Fu Yiran's gaze, I quickly looked away.

"What's wrong? You don't look well."

Fu Yiran's tone was full of concern.

"I am fine."

Just as I was about to hang up, Gu Jinhuai's voice rang out again.

"Come here yourself, or you'll face the consequences."

Gu Jinhuai's tone was cold and ruthless, carrying a commanding tone, not like he was discussing things with me.

I knew that, given his temperament, smashing the shop would be the least of his worries. I was afraid of harming innocent people, so I gritted my teeth and uttered two words: "Just you wait."

I hung up the phone, made an excuse to go to the restroom, and went straight upstairs after talking to Fu Yiran.

Gu Jinhuai gave me a cold look, then turned and walked upstairs.

I looked at him, puzzled. Just as I was wondering, the man coldly uttered two words: "Follow me."

I paused for a moment, looked in the direction he left, and quickly followed.

He walked very fast, and I had to jog to keep up.

Soon, he stopped in a private room, pushed open the door and went in. I hesitated for a few seconds, then followed closely behind.

As soon as I stepped inside, the air was filled with the mixed smell of tobacco and alcohol, and I frowned involuntarily.

But he didn't say anything and followed them inside.

The once noisy private room fell silent the moment Gu Jinhuai entered.

Gu Jinhuai chose a seat and sat down, leaving me standing there, bewildered and subjected to everyone's scrutiny.

I don't know what Gu Jinhuai is trying to do, but what he did was undoubtedly embarrassing me.

I clenched my fist so tightly that my nails dug deep into my palm. When I opened my hand, several small crescent moons appeared on my palm.

The people who were just making a ruckus now all have their eyes on me, looking me up and down. I accept their judgment, expressionless, staring straight ahead.

Just then, Gu Jinhuai impatiently said, "Come here."

I glanced at him, walked over without a word, and sat in the empty seat next to him.

Gu Jinhuai glanced at the gap between us, frowned, and reached out to pull me through by the shoulder.

Seeing this, everyone understood without saying a word.

I didn't know what he was going to do, so I glared at him angrily, but he seemed not to see me at all, his gaze sweeping over me and landing elsewhere.

The atmosphere was quiet for a moment, then one of them chuckled and said, "This is your bet. He's good-looking. Young Master Gu has good taste."

bet?

My heart skipped a beat, and I looked up at Gu Jinhuai. The man's gaze never fell on me; instead, he looked back at the person who had just spoken. His lips curled slightly, and his tone was monotonous, without causing a ripple.

"you want?"

Just those three words made my heart sink to the bottom. I gripped the hem of my clothes tightly, wondering what Gu Jinhuai had bet with them on.

But that's just how he is; whenever he needs my identity, he drags me out of the house.

Once, at a friend's gathering, Song Yuan was also present. Gu Jinhuai had lost a game and, amidst the cheers of the crowd, demanded to choose one of two options: take one home and leave the other to drink.

Obviously, I was the one who ended up in the hospital with a stomach hemorrhage from drinking too much.

I felt cold inside, sitting quietly, my face deathly pale, motionless like a white porcelain doll.

"Then it depends on whether Young Master Gu is willing to part with it?"

The man seemed to have drunk too much; his voice was slurred, and his cheeks were flushed—he was clearly intoxicated.

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire private room fell silent, the temperature suddenly dropped, and my heart jumped.
