Marrying a royal playboy and becoming a glamorous matriarch

Chapter 33 What is it that I dare not let you see?

Wei Qingrou pursed her lips, bowed her head respectfully, revealing half of her fair and soft neck.

"My elder sister has never experienced hardship, so her thinking is inevitably a bit naive..."

"I don't want to hear this. Perhaps you understand what she's saying, right?"

Qin Ping'an narrowed his eyes, scrutinizing him with a thoughtful expression. "There seems to be something in common among you all."

Wei Qingrou almost broke out in a cold sweat. The similarities between her and Wei Lanxin, besides having the same father, were that they were both time-traveling women.

She tried her best to hide it, but perhaps she still managed to see through it?

Wei Qingrou feigned composure: "My sister and I both come from the Wei family, so naturally we have similarities, after all, we are sisters."

Qin Ping'an then withdrew his gaze and gently closed his eyelids. "Really? Then under what circumstances do you think your sister would have an affair and fall in love with someone else?"

Wei Qingrou breathed a sigh of relief; it turned out he wanted her to help him pursue the time-traveling woman.

Qin Ping'an is indeed still hung up on Wei Lanxin. Perhaps men are powerless against such quirky and eccentric women.

He treated her so well, and their passionate embrace on the bed was perhaps just a reflection of the similarities between her and Wei Lanxin.

Qin Pingan tapped the tea table with his finger. "I wanted to ask, how can I win her heart?"

Wei Qingrou thought for a moment, "Although there are cracks in her relationship with the eldest prince, they are not serious, and outsiders cannot get in."

Qin Ping'an was very annoyed. "So when are we going to get to that point? Are you kidding me?"

Wei Qingrou lowered her eyes. Qin Ping'an became so impatient whenever Wei Lanxin's matter came up, to the point that he lost his usual composure.

"How could I dare to play tricks on you? I only need to wait until the conflict between the two of you becomes irreconcilable, and she will soon fall in love with someone else."

Qin Ping'an frowned. "What should we do?"

"Now we just need to keep waiting; they won't survive this winter."

"Okay, then let's wait and see."

Qin Ping'an breathed a sigh of relief, pulled Wei Qingrou into his arms, and hugged her tightly.

"You must not take what she says seriously. Those people in the inner quarters are no match for you; they are not qualified."

One sentence made Wei Qingrou feel both bittersweet and overjoyed.

This was the first time Qin Ping'an had discussed concubines in the inner quarters with her.

He bit her lips hard, lingering and caressing her passionately.

Wei Qingrou was rarely moved by his kiss. She tilted her head back gently, lost in his kiss, and responded to him cautiously.

Qin Ping'an's eyes were dark as he gripped her neck and deepened the kiss.

“You are my legal wife, the matriarch of the Wei family. Those are nothing but playthings that cannot be presented in public.”

One sentence jolted Wei Qingrou out of her emotional reverie.

Qin Ping'an was still kissing her, their kisses tender and passionate, but Wei Qingrou felt nothing.

How could she forget? How could she forget that Qin Ping'an was from ancient times?

Born into the upper class, he possessed the appearance of a wealthy and dissolute playboy, attracting countless women and never lacking in female companionship.

However, these rich kids have always treated women like toys. They play with women if they like them, and throw them aside if they don't, just like keeping pets.

Perhaps she should be grateful that the Wei family took her back and recognized her as their legitimate daughter, which allowed her to become Qin Ping'an's legitimate wife and have this special status.

But that's all. Qin Ping'an doesn't know how to love someone; he's just in sync with her in bed, and he's become addicted and can't extricate himself from the pleasure.

Back at the palace, Wei Qingrou divided the brocade she had brought back into two piles, intending to give the darker-colored pieces to the princess. Qin Ping'an also pestered her to go with them.

The princess was pruning the flowers when she saw Wei Qingrou coming over with brocade. She put down her scissors, smiled, and pulled her over.

"It rained last night, and the roads were slippery. How did you end up in my yard?"

“Mother, my husband recently acquired some fine materials and, thinking of you, specially asked me to deliver them to you.”

When the princess saw the bright and beautiful brocade and heard that it was her son who had found it, she was overjoyed.

It's good to have a wife. He knows to think about his family when he gets things. Otherwise, he would just throw away any money he has outside, and you wouldn't hear a sound at home.

"Qingrou, you can keep it. Your mother has nothing to lack."

Wei Qingrou naturally wouldn't take it back. She instructed the head maidservant beside the princess: "Chunhua, quickly pack it up for Mother, so that I won't feel bad about giving it away later."

The princess was amused by her and laughed heartily, embracing Wei Qingrou and kissing her affectionately. She knew in her heart that Wei Qingrou had chosen these fabrics.

"Qingrou is so thoughtful. Men are so careless, they wouldn't choose pretty and fashionable fabrics."

In the evening, the princess invited Wei Qingrou and the other two to dine together as usual. Even the prince, who was unwell, rarely came out of his room and ate with everyone.

After the meal, the prince summoned Qin Ping'an to his study. After a few words of conversation, he praised Wei Qingrou, saying, "She is extremely filial; she even brings back things for your mother when she goes out to play."

Qin Ping'an slumped in the armchair, looking rather unseemly. "That's right, my wife is much more filial than I am."

"Hmph, you unfilial son," the prince cursed.

"How can you say that to me?" Qin Ping'an closed his teacup, his face full of displeasure. "If my mother is happy, then you benefit, don't you?"

"You bastard, what nonsense are you spouting!"

Qin Ping'an wasn't afraid of his father at all. He was the youngest son and had dared to ride on Prince Dun's head and pull his beard since he was a child.

"Who's talking nonsense?" Qin Ping'an's eyes darted around and he said with a grin, "Father, I'm so poor that I don't have a single penny left to buy fabric for Mother. I'm almost starving. Could you give me some money?"

Prince Dun grunted twice, not wanting to pay him any attention.

Qin Ping'an rummaged through the treasure shelf, picked up a vase, and reached inside.

Prince Dun's eyes widened immediately: "Stop right there! You unfilial son! Leave me two!"

Qin Ping'an held the silver note in his hand, fanning it with a loud clatter. "Hehe, you didn't even know to go somewhere else. You just let me get away with this for nothing."

He grabbed the silver notes and ran outside, shouting, "Let's go!"

Prince Dun roared in anger, but dared not chase after him directly. He only ordered his page to secretly pursue Qin Ping'an.

As it turned out, Qin Ping'an didn't go through the main hall at all, but instead climbed over the wall and returned to the west courtyard.

Wei Qingrou was drinking tea at the Princess's place, waiting for a long time, but Qin Ping'an did not appear.

The princess sent someone to inquire and learned that the father and son had somehow started arguing again and had long since disappeared. She was both amused and exasperated.

"That father and son are never serious and always make a fool of themselves."

"My daughter-in-law thinks that the prince and her husband have a good relationship, which is why they dare to joke around like this."

Upon hearing this, the princess's smile deepened. "That's true."

The two chatted casually for a long time before the princess finally let Wei Qingrou leave, giving her a box as a parting gift.

"Take it and play with it. Don't worry about me all the time. Giving me a grandson as soon as possible is the important thing."

Wei Qingrou blushed with embarrassment. "Thank you, Mother."

Back in the west courtyard, Chunxi opened the box and was stunned: "So many silver notes, at least ten thousand taels!"

Wei Qingrou quickly closed the lid and whispered, "Hide it quickly, don't let Second Master see it."

"What is it that you dare not let me see?"

Wei Qingrou quickly stuffed the box under her pillow.

He raised his eyes and saw the pitiful Jiu Ying, and his face immediately darkened.

Jiu Ying glanced at Wei Qingrou, but suddenly her face showed fear, and she lowered her head and hid behind Qin Ping'an.

"Madam, please calm down. This servant is here today to offer tea to the concubine."
