Chapter 67 Discovered
Although Hirata's warning did not completely convince all the students, some students in Class D began to reconsider their behavior after hearing his words.
They realized that if Sakagami-sensei really had some special instructions, then the risk of cheating was too great. The students decided to abandon their plans to cheat and began to prepare seriously for the exam.
However, the trio of idiots and Sotomura still disregarded Hirata's warning.
The villagers believed that their mechanical creations gave them enough means to evade any surveillance. Full of confidence, they decided to continue cheating according to their original plan.
“You guys are just too cowardly,” Soimura said in a low voice, a hint of smugness in his eyes. “I’ve prepared something special to ensure we won’t get caught cheating.”
Ike and Yamauchi exchanged a glance. Confident in Soimura's technology, they decided to continue their collaboration. They believed that even if Sakagami-sensei made some arrangements, Soimura's mechanical creations could cover them up.
Ayanokouji observed everything silently. He knew these students who decided to continue cheating might get into trouble. He decided to remain highly vigilant during the exam, always thinking about how to clean up their mess. After all, this exam affected the class's score, and his task was to lead this bunch of good-for-nothings to Class A to annoy the Sakayanagi family.
After the exam began, the classroom gradually quieted down. Most students started answering the questions seriously.
But the trio of idiots and the outlying village were secretly carrying out their plan. The outlying village's mechanical creations were cleverly and automatically monitored, constantly transmitting answers in secret.
However, they did not notice that when Sakagami-sensei's gaze swept around the classroom, it would occasionally linger on them a little longer.
A slight upturn at the corners of his mouth revealed a barely perceptible smile, as if he had anticipated all of this.
Ayanokouji sensed the subtle shift in the classroom atmosphere and became even more certain that Sakagami-sensei had made preparations. He decided to do something as well.
The exam was in progress, and the classroom was filled with the scratching sound of pens dancing on the test papers.
In this tense and serious atmosphere, the actions of the three idiots and the outsider seemed particularly abrupt.
They thought they were cleverly using the mechanical creations of the outlying village to cheat, but little did they know that their every move was being watched by Sakagami-sensei through his omnipresent shadow.
When the mechanical creations from the outer village appeared with a few extra small shadows, Sakagami-sensei had already noticed this anomaly.
He decided to hold off on taking action for the time being and instead observe whether other students would also be drawn to this little trick, thus uncovering more cheating behavior.
Unfortunately, as time went on, Sakagami-sensei discovered that apart from the three idiots and Sotomura, no other students had fallen for the trick or participated in the cheating.
He was somewhat disappointed that he hadn't managed to recruit any more students.
But there was no other way but to keep the money and be safe with it.
Just as the trio of idiots and Sotomura were about to stop, thinking they had successfully cheated and breathing a sigh of relief, Sakagami-sensei suddenly spoke, his voice exceptionally loud in the quiet classroom: "Sudo, Ike, Yamauchi, Sotomura, you guys, stop cheating immediately and stand up!"
The sudden shout plunged the entire classroom into silence.
All the students' eyes were focused on Mr. Sakagami and the few who had been called out.
The three idiots and the outsider's face turned pale instantly. They froze in place, unable to believe that their cheating had been discovered.
Mr. Sakagami stood up and slowly walked towards them, his eyes revealing sternness and displeasure. "I have been giving you chances, hoping that you would consciously abide by the examination rules. But unfortunately, you have chosen the wrong path. Now, you will face the punishment you deserve."
Their panic and fear were magnified countless times at that moment.
Sudo spewed flames from between his fingers, attempting to demonstrate his toughness in this way.
But the flickering flame seemed to be a direct reflection of his inner fears.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and his flickering eyes revealed his inner unease and panic.
His voice trembled slightly: "What...what evidence do you have that we cheated?"
Yamauchi took a deep breath, his expression suddenly shifting from panic to exaggerated fearlessness: "Fine, fine, since that's what you think, then I have nothing more to say. You just want to catch cheaters, right? Come on, catch me!"
His movements were exaggerated; he deliberately flipped through the exam paper, making a rustling sound, and even stood up and looked around, as if he were provoking the proctor and his classmates.
His actions immediately attracted everyone's attention. Some classmates even gasped in disbelief that Yamauchi would dare to openly provoke them at such a time.
Chi was startled by Yamauchi's actions. He tugged at Yamauchi's sleeve and whispered, "Yamauchi, are you crazy? Sit down!"
But Yamauchi didn't care anymore. He continued loudly, "You so-called good students, aren't you just good at taking exams? Do you really think you're so great? Let me tell you, this world isn't just about exams. If you're so capable, let's compete in other areas!"
Outer Village's reaction was the most extreme. He seemed to have all his strength drained away, slumping in his chair, his eyes lifeless, as if he had already accepted his impending punishment. His hands hung limply at his sides; he didn't even have the strength to sit up straight.
Ayanokouji stood there dumbfounded. She had already come up with a solution for them, but she never expected that Yamauchi would go completely mad.
He now only hopes that Hirata will quickly step forward to stop his madness, come out and question Sakagami-sensei, so that his trickery can be put to use.
Hirata stood up, his eyes resolute. Although he knew the odds were slim, he was determined to defend his teammates. "Mr. Sakagami, you say they cheated, but do you have any evidence?"
Sakagami-sensei gave Hirata a cold look, unmoved by Hirata's doubts. "Of course there is." He walked to the table of the three idiots and Sotomura, pointing to the mechanical artifacts they had hidden. "These are the evidence."
As she spoke, Ms. Sakagami reached out and picked up the so-called "mechanical creations," preparing to show them to the whole class.
