Chapter 103 Memories and Traps

After walking around the Star Palace, I returned to the library that was once filled with sunshine.

Her fingertips lightly touched the now-cold doorknob, she took a deep breath, and finally mustered the courage to push the door open.

The door creaked, as if telling a story of past glory and present desolation.

She went inside and saw that most of the books were covered in dust, but a few books that they had read together were still placed in a prominent position, and the warmth of the sunlight seemed to linger between the pages.

Hoshinomiya couldn't help but walk over and reach out to touch the books, which had once been a testament to their friendship.

They had spent countless afternoons together here, immersed in the world between the pages of books, quietly discussing their insights and feelings.

Hoshinomiya remembers that they always chose seats by the window, where they could enjoy the natural light and overlook the campus. Their discussions were always low and excited, sometimes arguing over different viewpoints, and sometimes smiling at each other when they reached a consensus.

Hoshinomiya gently turned the pages of the book, her movements soft, as if afraid of disturbing the memories sleeping within.

However, the moment her fingertips touched the paper, the surrounding air seemed to freeze, and an ominous premonition rose in her heart.

She looked up and saw the books suddenly emit a dazzling light. The familiar words and pictures twisted in the light, and the pages seemed to come alive, turning into sharp blades that flew towards her.

Her initial surprise made her react a beat slower; her eyes widened in disbelief at what was happening before her.

She never expected that Chazhu would set up a trap in such a place.

She was filled with shock and confusion, but her body reacted instinctively.

His body jerked backward, trying to escape the flying pages.

However, she was a step too slow, and several sharp pages grazed her arm, leaving streaks of blood.

She felt a sharp pain, but more than that, a heartache—these books, the books they had once read and discussed together, were now fluttering before her eyes, turning into blades, turning into ashes.

Hoshinomiya understood that the detail the tea pillar hadn't forgotten was actually a trap, a trap deliberately prepared for her.

These traps, these deadly mechanisms, are actually built upon their shared memories.

Ms. Hoshinomiya felt a pang of betrayal, and a surge of hatred welled up within her.

But instead of running away, she decided to confront this pain head-on.

She wanted to see for herself how Teacher Chabashira had turned their shared memories, those places once filled with laughter and warmth, into weapons of destruction.

And so, Hoshinomiya once again embarked on that road leading to memories.

She walked slowly and carefully, each step as if reliving those beautiful moments from the past.

Because she knew that in a moment, all of this would crumble before her eyes.

Hoshino Palace slowly walked towards the spot where the banyan tree once stood. The shade of the tree remained, and sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows.

It seems this place is destined to become a tea pillar trap as well.

Even so, she decided to lie down again, this time wanting to stay longer, as if to bid a final farewell to the tranquility under the shade of the trees.

She gently lay down on the grass, closed her eyes, and the surrounding noise seemed to gradually fade away, leaving only the rustling sound of the wind blowing through the leaves.

However, the calm was soon shattered. The ground began to shake violently, the grass under the trees cracked open, and sharp stalagmites suddenly pierced out, rushing straight at her.

Hoshinomiya's body instinctively wanted to roll away, but another voice in her heart told her that if she hid, she would never feel these memories again.

So she didn't move, continuing to enjoy the shade of the tree as if the stalagmite didn't exist.

The stalagmite seemed to be startled, its trajectory changed, and it grazed past her body, piercing her skin and making her feel a chill.

She opened her eyes and watched the stalagmites emerge from the ground, her heart filled with complex emotions.

These stalagmites, like the pain and anger in Chazhu's heart, ruthlessly destroy the memories between them.

Hoshinomiya did not run away; she endured the pain because she knew that only by facing it head-on could she truly understand Chabashira's heart.

She stood up, her body bearing wounds, but she didn't stop. Dragging her injured body, she continued walking along the path that had once been filled with the fragrance of flowers.

Now, the road is full of thorns, and every step feels like a stinging reminder of her past, stirring up waves in her heart.

But she knew very well that this patch of thorns was definitely not the whole trap.

She crouched down and gently stroked the withered flowers on the thorns. The flowers turned to ash at her fingertips, and thorn tentacles emerged from the ashes, trying to entwine her wrists.

Hoshinomiya could have pulled away in time, but she chose to endure it; the thorny tentacles gripped her wrist, leaving deep marks.

She continued walking and saw the forget-me-not that still had two petals left.

Hoshinomiya reached out and touched it, wanting to feel once again the patterns that they had touched countless times.

"Since it only has four petals, let's give each of them a name. How about Xiao Dong, Xiao Xi, Xiao Nan, and Xiao Bei?"

"What an awful name, Chazhu, your taste is terrible."

"What do you mean?! You're my friend, and you actually doubt my taste! As my best friend, aren't you terrible?!"

"Tch, I'm naturally beautiful, I don't need your taste to prove it."

“We’ll each take care of both halves. If you don’t like this name, I’ll choose it first.”

"Then Xiao Nan and Xiao Bei are mine, and Xiao Dong and Xiao Xi are yours, little one~"

"Hmph! You mock my taste and then try to steal my child, Hoshinomiya, you have no taste at all!"

Recalling Chazhu's clenched teeth in front of her, her heart softened.

So, only Xiao Nan and Xiao Bei are left.
