The First Venerable of the Prosperous Age

Chapter 38 Cutting out the roots

Chang'an jumped down from the hidden door under the bed, and a flash of red light appeared immediately:

The room was bright and airy, and the first thing you saw was an exquisite and elegant boudoir bed.

There are also magnificent ebony bookcases, walls covered with elegant calligraphy and paintings by famous people, and antique tables displaying a dazzling array of rouge and face powder.

A red lampshade was placed on the table, illuminating the entire room in a warm red hue.

Such a beautiful scene, only lacking a lovely lady, but now there is none, so everything in the room has become an empty decoration...

"Whose room is this? It's so luxurious..." Chang'an murmured blankly, looking up.

"How is it?" A gentle voice came from the ceiling.

“This… should be a room on the second floor…” Chang’an opened the door again, and it was a room located below Lianxue’s room.

So the three people upstairs came to the door in response. Looking at this familiar place, Fu Rou said, "This is... Liu Rao's room."

“Not bad…” Chang’an said calmly, none of this surprised him.

Fu Rou's face turned serious. "Let's go in and take a look..."

The four entered the room. "This room is decorated much more luxuriously than ours," Yu Lei exclaimed.

Fu Rou pursed her red lips. "Then, Prince Xue, the rats might make sense... So they all communicated through this secret door."

She added, "Could there be any feathers of a poisonous bird here?" Following Fu Rou's suggestion, she wanted to search the area again.

The four of them quickly realized that this place was not as simple as Sweet Cake's room, and they couldn't find anything in a short time.

This is Liu Rao's room. Just thinking about it makes Lianxue feel uncomfortable. She has already anticipated the awkward scene when Liu Rao comes back. Liu Rao has always been the person that the sisters least want to provoke.

Lianxue couldn't help but ask, "Didn't we just see Sister Liu Rao go back to her room? Why can't we see her now...?"

“I’m also wondering where she went…” Fu Rou said, tilting her head back in thought.

As she looked up in thought, she inadvertently caught sight of the hidden door panel at the top.

The keyhole on the door caught Fu Rou's attention. "The keyhole... this door was supposed to be locked... so why is it open now, especially when Liu Rao isn't here?"

The scene of Liu Rao whispering in her ear, urging her to find evidence, flashed through her mind again.

Fu Rou finally realized, "She deliberately unlocked the door for us so that we would find her and come here!"

"What..." Lianxue's expression hardened. "Then what is her purpose in doing this?"

"Yes, where should she be now?" Yu Lei asked with her bright eyes.

Chang'an also stopped what he was doing and listened carefully to their conversation.

"Where could she be?" Fu Rou was pondering with her eyes closed when she suddenly exclaimed as if she had just realized something, "Oh no!" She then rushed out of the room in a panic, completely losing her usual noble and elegant demeanor.

Chang'an and the others quickly followed, but ended up in front of Tao Xin's house.

"This is really bad!" Chang'an thought to himself.

Fu Rou pushed open the door and saw Liu Rao, dressed in black, locked in a standoff with Lu Xiaosan, who was guarding Wen Ying's bedside.

At this moment, Liu Rao had already plunged the dagger deep into Lu Xiaosan's abdomen.

Instead of dodging, the latter gripped the dagger tightly with both hands.

Blood seeped through his clothes and dripped onto the ground.

Liu Rao must hate him terribly, because she was also tightly gripping his neck with her other hand.

Lu Xiaosan's face was flushed red, blood vessels filled the whites of his eyes, and he glared angrily. His expression was just like the hand gripping the dagger tightly: unyielding, furious, and full of fierceness.

Only when someone broke down the door did a slight smile appear on his red face, where veins were bulging.

Then, Fu Rou flicked her arm, and a red scarf flew out, binding Liu Rao's hands. Liu Rao's hands loosened, and she was pulled to the ground. Only the bloody dagger remained on Lu Xiaosan's body.

Lu Xiaosan gradually released the dagger, slumped against the bedside, and forced a laugh while panting, "You bitch, I still won!"

Liu Rao slowly turned her resentful smile and looked at Fu Rou at the door with hatred.

Fu Rou then lightly twisted her wrist, using the silk scarf that flew out of her hand to wrap Liu Rao up.

Liu Rao struggled, but couldn't move. At that moment, she realized that she had been completely defeated, and she glared at him with eyes full of anger and resentment.

"Ah—! So much blood!" Yu Lei, who had just arrived, screamed, covering her eyes.

"Brother!" Chang'an rushed forward.

Looking at Lu Xiaosan's blood-soaked abdomen, Chang'an's usually calm face now looked as if it had been ravaged, filled with fear and panic.

With tears streaming down his face, Chang'an shouted outside, "Help! Someone, please help me!"

After saying that, Chang'an looked excitedly at Lu Xiaosan and asked, "Big brother, hang in there, does it hurt?"

Lu Xiaosan laughed heartily, patted Chang'an's head, and forced himself to say, "What...what do you think?" As he spoke, he looked down at the wound, where blood was flowing down the blade in pools.

Chang'an raised her head again, looking at him with a blank expression.

Lu Xiaosan frowned, forcing a smile, "It doesn't hurt!"

Then, Lianxue and Furou came up together, pressed on his wound, and stopped the bleeding. Gradually, all the girls in the building gathered up.

Seeing two stunningly beautiful girls tending to his wounds, Lu Xiaosan had no choice but to cover his nose and endure the pain.

And it was only at times like these that he could experience some of the joy of Chang'an.

"Hang in there, I'll bandage you up right away," Lianxue said, pressing on his wound.

Seeing that she had set aside her status and personally treated his wounds, Lu Xiaosan finally began to look at her properly and nodded in response.

Seeing his own pale face, Chang'an anxiously asked, "Sister Lianxue, my brother will be alright, right?"

Lianxue frowned, completely focused on treating Lu Xiaosan's wound. After a long while, she said, "The wound isn't very deep..."

The weight that had been hanging over Chang'an's heart finally lifted a little...

Fu Rou asked sternly again, "She's here, why didn't you call out? Are you trying to show off?" Fu Rou deliberately raised her voice to keep him alert and prevent him from falling asleep and never waking up again.

Lu Xiaosan leaned against the bedside, his eyes vacant, beads of sweat streaming down his pale face. "I...I must stay by her side, I absolutely cannot wake...her..."

Fu Rou glanced at Wen Ying, who was still fast asleep on the bed. Her eyes were closed, her eyelashes were long, and her pale cherry lips were tightly closed, clearly indicating that she was extremely exhausted.

Presumably, the foolish monk, upon seeing this, would be even less willing to wake her.

But Fu Rou couldn't help but get angry and said, "Do you know that what you're doing will actually kill her?"

Lu Xiaosan shook his head with his eyes closed and said, "I...I only know...that's how she treated me back then, not letting...anyone disturb her...it was just us...and now...it's finally my turn to protect her..."

After he finished speaking, a happy smile gradually appeared on his face.
