The First Venerable of the Prosperous Age
Chapter 12 Disparity in Strength
Lu Xiaosan was about to fight to the death when Chang'an grabbed him and pulled him away, saying, "Don't be reckless, they have knives!"
"That's exactly what I was thinking too." He immediately ran faster than Chang'an.
"You little bastard! Where do you think you're going?" Suddenly, a white light flashed, and Lu Xiaosan instinctively dodged to the side, the white blade grazing his face.
As Chang'an ran, he grabbed whatever he could find, like wine glasses, and threw them around.
With a series of clangs, the three men easily blocked the attack. Their movements were swift and skillful, demonstrating their well-trained abilities and proving they were no ordinary roughnecks.
With the wine glasses useless, Lu Xiaosan started flipping the table and dumping things, which at least bought him some time.
The two barely managed to escape when three gleaming broadswords came rushing at them.
In the chaos, Lu Xiaosan stumbled, causing the two of them to fall down together.
When I looked up again, the wind from the blade cut right to my face.
Seeing this, he quickly shielded Chang'an with his body.
Suddenly, three men held their swords horizontally in front of their chests, and with three swift "bangs" as one, they blocked three hidden blades.
"Who's meddling in other people's business?" a man roared.
Lu Xiaosan suddenly looked up and saw a beautiful black figure sitting in their carriage; the three hidden weapons were fired by her.
"It's the young women from the kitchen!" Lu Xiaosan exclaimed in surprise.
Sweetie sat up from the car, pushed off with her left foot, and leaped into the air, reaching a height of several meters.
"Kill these two lads first!" The men raised their knives to strike again.
The man had just raised his steel knife into the air when he let out a scream. The knife fell from his hand, and he was struck by a hidden blade.
Then a strong wind swept by, and as the dazzling shadows of Sweet Cake's arms flashed by, seven or eight hidden blades shot out from within.
The other two men dragged the wounded man behind them and blocked his path one by one with their knives.
As the sweet cake fell, it landed squarely on the head of a man.
The man immediately flipped his wrist, using the blade to catch the kick.
From a distance, the man's size was twice that of a sweet cake. It was as if a black cat was stepping on a bear's head, yet the bear was frowning and in great pain.
"Ah!" the man next to him roared, and swung his knife at Tian Gao's ankle.
Sweetie sprang up with her left foot, then stepped on the man in the middle with her right foot, leaping into the air. With a "bang," the two men's broadswords clashed.
She then somersaulted in the air, launching several hidden blades.
The two men's hands were already sore and numb, and they had to frantically block the hidden blades, making them look quite disheveled.
The sweet cake landed right in front of Lu Xiaosan. "You've got some skills!" the latter laughed.
"Hurry up!" Chang'an pulled Lu Xiaosan and ran towards the carriage.
To buy them time, Sweet Cake waved her hand and went up again.
He slapped the left hand and kicked the right, striking simultaneously. The two men, who had been standing frozen in place, were caught completely off guard.
Sweet Cake seized the opportunity and, like a snake, began to entangle and fight with them.
The two men were forced to retreat, suffering several blows to their bodies. "Damn it, this little wench is so persistent. Ugh..." one of the men said, as he was punched by Sweetie.
Just as the two men were about to approach the carriage, a sudden gust of wind swept behind them, and a spinning spear shot out from the pavilion.
"Thrust!" The spear pierced precisely into Lu Xiaosan's clothes.
Lu Xiaosan suddenly felt dizzy, and an unshakable force violently pulled him forward.
The spear was so powerful that it smashed through the carriage along with the man inside.
How could the carriage withstand the attack? With a crash, it shattered into pieces. Then, one horse, startled, bolted into a gallop. The other, calm horse remained in place.
A cold wind blew by, causing the red gun scarf to sway slightly, while the spear remained firmly planted in the ground like a mountain.
Upon seeing Lu Xiaosan buried under the wreckage of the carriage, Chang'an cried out in alarm and rushed forward. He shoved away the broken pieces and wheels, revealing Lu Xiaosan's face, which looked as if he was about to faint.
Lu Xiaosan stared wide-eyed, his expression pained, "My butt... my butt hurts..."
Having smashed through the carriage and been buried underground, he was naturally in excruciating pain and had no strength to tear off his clothes to escape.
"Wait, I'm coming to save you." Chang'an struggled to pull out the spear.
"Ahhh!!" No matter how he tried to pull or push, the spear remained firmly planted in the ground, without moving an inch.
When Sweet Cake caught up and saw the long spear, her brows furrowed and her face showed worry.
She looked at Lu Xiaosan with a cold expression, "The landlord said that Xiaomei must be saved. I'm sorry."
Lu Xiaosan nodded repeatedly, signaling her to quickly take Chang'an and escape.
Sweetie stepped forward, picked up Chang'an, and placed him on the horse's back, intending to spur the horse to gallop.
Chang'an struggled, his limbs flailing, revealing an emotion completely out of character for him: "Big brother, please save big brother!"
The calls from Chang'an grew increasingly distant until they became barely audible, and in the blink of an eye, the horses had vanished.
Only then did Lu Xiaosan feel relieved.
The men weren't in a hurry at all; they all approached Lu Xiaosan with smiles on their faces and began to mock him.
"Oh dear, how pitiful, to be so heartlessly abandoned, tsk tsk tsk."
"You're so smelly and ugly, even if I were that girl, I wouldn't choose you. Wouldn't it be better to grab a cute little face and take her home? Hahahaha."
"Hahaha, look how skilled that girl is, but when she saw the general's weapon, she still ran away in a flash, hahahahaha."
Lu Xiaosan smiled nonchalantly, "Seeing how narrow-minded you are, no wonder you're all just lowly cowards. The young lady kept me here because she thinks I'm capable of dealing with you."
"Hahahaha." Lu Xiaosan laughed as if he had found money. "She wouldn't have done something like this if she didn't worship me to the extreme."
"Hmph, hmph, hmph, as stubborn as you want, you should think about it now. You think you can survive after provoking Prince Xue? Hahaha." Several men chuckled wickedly.
"Hahaha, I knew it was that beast causing trouble. Does he really want to... kill me? Cough cough cough..." Lu Xiaosan felt a burning sensation in his throat and coughed up blood with his eyes closed.
When he opened his eyes again, the person standing in front of him was the fourth person he had seen at the table earlier. The three men had already bowed their heads and retreated to the back.
He figured the spear on his back must be the work of the general in front of him.
The general slowly closed his cold eyes, his ears twitching slightly as if he were listening intently to something.
Lu Xiaosan thought to himself, "I only coughed twice, and this person appeared right in front of me..."
"Tsk tsk tsk, judging by his speed and stance, this guy's martial arts skills are probably a little bit better than mine. Hmm... looks like this is going to be a bit difficult! It seems like I'm really going to be in trouble this time..."
The general suddenly opened his eyes, flashed behind Lu Xiaosan, and pulled him and his gun out of the rubble.
Lu Xiaosan, in mid-air, caught a glimpse of the gun barrels scattering stones beneath his feet.
A dark hole several feet deep was pierced into the ground, demonstrating the immense weight of the spear. And the general's strength was unfathomable.
The general pointed his gun at the direction the two had fled. Lu Xiaosan, hanging from the gun, shouted, "What are you doing? What are you doing? Ugh..." Before he could finish speaking, he was thrown away along with the gun.
The spear flew out like lightning, and as Lu Xiaosan's screams faded into the distance, the general grinned maliciously with his hands behind his back, "Go, chase after them in the direction I threw them, and you'll be able to catch them all."
"Yes!"
The general stood with his eyes closed, and after a while, he suddenly opened them wide.
He turned around slowly, his anger palpable, and saw a figure emerging from the darkness.
Under the moonlight, the man's head was wrapped in a white turban, he was wearing a thousand-leaf golden dragon armor, and a golden dragon belt around his waist. He was broad-shouldered, and his angry eyes were full of power. He looked to be in his early thirties.
Two burly men, each weighing several hundred pounds, were being dragged along the ground by this man with a "sizzling" sound, leaving two long trails of blood behind them.
He was carrying two more people on his shoulders: the last man, who was unconscious, and Lu Xiaosan.
His mouth never stopped. He held a spear and a halberd together, which weighed a hundred pounds, in his mouth with ease, forming a fork shape, as if they were fixed in place, without moving an inch.
