Cultivation Kill

Chapter 3 First Round

Shen Zige tiptoed around the large rock. There was a lot of moss on the side of the rock, which felt slippery to the touch.

A few seconds later, Shen Zige noticed something was wrong: "This... there seem to be words behind the moss, let me take a look."

Shen Zige scraped the moss off with her fingernails and found the following words written on it: "The Night One, can become invisible when night falls. Please note that night falls once every five minutes, and each time it lasts for ten seconds."

"The valley isn't big; you can walk around it in five minutes. But we don't know who the Night Walkers are, so we should gather in the middle of the valley as soon as possible, or we'll be left to walk alone."

Although Shen Zige was heading into the valley, he tried his best to remain silent. This was a game of life and death, and he had to be careful.

The valley was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

Good people worry that speaking out will attract the killer, while the killer worries that speaking out will alert the good people nearby.

"Click——"

It was Shen Zige's first time playing a real-life life-or-death game, and she was a little nervous. She was only focused on observing what was in front of her and the ground, and did not notice that above the stone wall, a loose piece of gravel wobbled and then fell down.

"Oh no!" Shen Zige's heart pounded and her adrenaline surged. She quickly reached out to catch it, but unfortunately, there was no wind or rain in the valley, and no insects that could make noise. Even though the sound was very soft and Shen Zige reacted quickly, she couldn't cover it up.

One second later.

Shen Zige heard rapid footsteps approaching from his left; it was clear that the person was getting closer.

"An assassin?" Shen Zige didn't expect to encounter danger so soon. Of course, it's also possible that the person who came wasn't an assassin, but perhaps a fool. Anyway, it's one or the other.

With a 50% chance, Shen Zige wouldn't dare gamble with his life; he didn't want to pay the price for fools.

Following the footsteps, Shen Zige imitated the Qin King's method of circling around the pillar and dealt with the approaching person.

A few dozen seconds later, the other person realized something was wrong and quickly stopped.

"Who are you? Let's make a deal and stick together." A voice came from the other side of the rock.

Shen Zige recognized the voice from the man in the suit from before and replied in a low voice, "State your identity first, and then I will."

"You go first..." The man in the suit's voice came from behind the boulder. After a moment, he changed his mind and said, "We'll both go first. Three seconds, three, two, one, go!"

Time seemed to stand still for a few seconds, and there was complete silence.

Neither of them identified themselves.

"Did you notice any messages on the large rocks?" Shen Zige said in a low voice. "I suspect that many of the large rocks have messages on them."

"I didn't look carefully," the man in the suit said. "I'm a good person; we're going to the center of the valley together."

"If you're a good person, why don't you identify yourself?" Shen Zige continued to ask in a low voice.

"You're not even going to identify yourself!" the man in the suit said. "Bad guys get one chance to guess who you are. If you're a bad guy, wouldn't it be obvious to everyone if I revealed my identity?"

"Then you wait there, don't move, I'll come over and hug you." Shen Zige said in a low voice, and then he tiptoed away, this time promising to be silent!

In his mind, the man in the suit was either a killer or neutral more than 90% likely.

"You're afraid of being guessed to death if you reveal your identity, but aren't you afraid of getting close to someone and getting stabbed?" Shen Zige speculated in her mind, but didn't say it out loud.

Shen Zige tries to avoid people. He won't show himself unless he encounters more than three people, because there are only three bad guys and neutral guys in total, so it's relatively safer to encounter more than three people!

No one knows when it will get dark for the first time, so try to stay together and don't go off on your own.

Because Shen Zige walked very carefully, it took her about two minutes to reach the stone platform in the middle of the valley.

There were already seven people standing on the stone platform. When they saw Shen Zige approaching, their eyes all turned to Shen Zige.

“You came later to the outer position!” The muscular man said to Shen Zige, toying with a jade pendant in his hand.

It seems his brain is really full of muscles.

“You’re stupid…” Shen Zige said, “You’ve played games, and you’re still this dumb.”

The muscular man had been fighting with someone before coming in, and Shen Zige hadn't seen him with a jade pendant. Could it be hidden in his pocket? But—can something hidden in a pocket be brought into the valley?

Judging from the number of people, Shen Zige knew that no one had died yet. There were seven people on the stone platform, plus himself, making eight, and a man in a suit behind them.

"Me, stupid?" the muscular man said. "The seven of us have been here the whole time. Only you and that bastard in the suit are outside. Now that you're here, and the man in the suit isn't, there's no doubt you're the prime suspect! No, you've already killed him. You're the killer in the valley!"

Several people on the stone platform nodded silently, agreeing that the muscular man's reasoning was correct.

“You can’t conclude that I’m an assassin just based on that,” Shen Zige said. “If he had been near you when he came down into the valley, you would have had plenty of time to kill him and then come over. It wouldn’t have taken much time! Besides, how can you be so sure that the man in the suit is dead? Unless you have special skills.”

Upon hearing Shen Zige mention special skills, a young man with a beard closed his eyes for a few seconds, then opened them and said, "No one has died yet."

"How do you know no one's dead yet?" the muscular man scoffed. "I bet you're his assassin teammate!"

"I guess he's a good person who can prove his identity, but of course, it's also possible that a bad person is impersonating him," said a middle-aged man wearing a leather jacket and pants. "I think he's very likely a good person. My name is Ziya, what about yours?"

Shen Zige said, "The assassin has one chance to snipe, but cannot reveal their identity. Of course, you can be an exception if you are not afraid of death. My name is Zige."

"He...they...will...will they guess my identity..." the bearded man stammered. "My name is Conan."

It seems everyone is using aliases, except for Zige who uses her real name.

“Then pray the assassin didn’t see any information about your identity,” Shen Zige said.

There are messages carved behind the moss on nine stones in the valley. Shen Zige does not intend to tell everyone now. Perhaps some people have already discovered them, but Shen Zige will not speak first.

"My name is Hokage."

"My name is Superman."

“My name is Wukong,” the woman who had been crying earlier said.

Shen Zige felt it was a bit strange for a woman to have the name Wukong.

"My name is Senju."

"My name is Xiang Yu," the muscular man said in a gruff voice.

"The man in the suit didn't come. Could he be dead somewhere?" Conan, the bearded man, said. "We'll split into three teams of eight and search the valley. If we find any leftover smartwatches, we'll deduce the killer based on their location."

"The problem is that so much time has passed, who can remember the route someone else took?" the man using the pseudonym Naruto said. "I'm not a contestant on a variety show called 'Super Brain'."

“Unsearchable.” Shen Zige analyzed calmly, “If eight people are divided into three teams, one team will definitely have fewer than three people! Have you thought about the danger? Because among the eight of us, there must be an assassin. If the team with two people hides behind a big rock, the other person will definitely be killed!”

“Even if we split into two teams, four people in each team isn’t safe,” Shen Zige continued. “We can’t be 100% sure that the person outside is an assassin. If anything goes wrong, and there are two assassins in the four-person team, they can use double knives, and the good guys will be doomed!”

After hearing Shen Zige's analysis, everyone agreed that it made sense and stopped mentioning searching separately.

“We can go together as a group of eight,” the woman named Wukong suggested.

This time, Shen Zige had no reason to object; it was still safe for the eight of them to stick together.

"No need, the man in the suit is already here." The muscular man, using the alias Xiang Yu, pointed behind Shen Zige.

Shen Zige turned around and saw someone running towards him quickly. He immediately walked onto the stone platform and went to the middle of the crowd.

Although a person with a brain wouldn't dare to kill someone in front of others, the man in the suit might not be so smart, so it would be safer for him to stand with the crowd.

It seems the man in the suit realized he had been tricked and rushed into the valley after realizing what had happened.

Soon, all nine of them were standing on the stone platform.

Suddenly, the valley darkened, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face!

"what--"

Screams sounded.
