Being a passerby in HP female protagonist fanfiction
Chapter 28 Motion sickness
I boarded the Hogwarts Express. I arrived quite early, so there were still plenty of seats available. I found an empty carriage at the back and sat down.
Sigh, I hope I don't run into any key figures this time. I'm really tired and want to take a break.
Time passed slowly, and the young wizards boarded the train one after another, making the train lively. The chatter of everyone could be heard through the doors.
Some were discussing Quidditch, some were struggling with how to improve their grades, and some were chatting with friends, venting about the unpleasant things that happened during the holidays... Everyone was full of energy.
Hopefully, Professor Quirrell won't cause any trouble this semester and can just focus on getting through the story.
I'm thinking about it.
More and more people arrived, and soon someone came to knock on the carriage.
“Long time no see, Claire.” Padma Petit and her sister Parvati Petit entered the carriage together and greeted me warmly.
They are a pair of very energetic and talkative sisters who not only have a good relationship but are also well-liked by their friends.
Padma is from Ravenclaw College. She has excellent grades, and I often ask her for help. She is also very generous in helping others, so we have a good relationship. We even received gifts from each other for Christmas.
Parvati is from Gryffindor. She was the one who comforted Hermione last time. She's a bit stubborn, but a nice person. Although we haven't met many times, we can still greet each other.
"Long time no see," I replied with a smile, casually taking out some snacks from my pocket and handing them to them.
“Truly worthy of being called Hufflepuff.” The Petil sisters took my candy, smiled at each other, and started chatting with me.
Friendships between children always come quickly. We chatted enthusiastically. Parvati was a little reserved at first, but soon he also became immersed in our conversation and poured out his troubles to me.
"The thought of having to take Potions class again this semester makes me miserable." Parvati said with a bitter face. As the Gryffindor who is most likely to be targeted by Snape, she knows all too well how terrible Snape is. She couldn't help but complain to us about Snape's outrageous actions.
It's one thing for him to openly suppress Gryffindor in class, but he also always likes to be sarcastic and mean. Even someone as smart and hardworking as Hermione can't get points in his class. It's almost become a regular occurrence for Harry to be targeted in class. I've never seen Snape not target Harry.
"I really don't know how Harry managed to offend Professor Snape," Parvati said dejectedly. Their Gryffindor class had just lost far too many points.
“It’s alright,” Padma comforted Parvati. It was clear that this wasn’t the first time she had complained; her sister was already used to it.
Although they are twins, Parvati and Padma are quite different, and you won't be unable to tell them apart after spending time together. On the other hand, the Weasley twins consciously imitate each other, and their appearance, character, and habits are almost identical, making it difficult for most people to tell them apart at first glance.
Chatting always makes time fly by. The train started moving, my face gradually turned red, and my head began to spin.
Motion sickness was unavoidable. The Hogwarts train at the end of the 20th century was more shaky than any train I had ever ridden before. I soon couldn't take it anymore and told the Petit sisters that I wanted to rest.
"Are you carsick?" Padma asked worriedly, observing my complexion. "Claire, are you alright?"
"I feel a little dizzy," I said. "But it's okay, I'll be fine after a rest. I usually just take a nap when I get carsick, it's nothing serious."
“Okay…” Padma pulled Lapavati, and the two of them fell silent.
I leaned back in my seat, curled up, and closed my eyes to rest. I felt like my motion sickness was worse than last time... No, I should say that last time I was so shocked to see Willotte that my motion sickness symptoms were relieved, and I was also very excited on the way back. Now that I'm calm and have nothing to attract my attention, my motion sickness immediately gets worse.
The carriage was quiet, with only the whooshing of the train and the whistling of the wind outside the window, both of which seemed distant and indistinct.
My consciousness was caught between sleepiness and confusion. There seemed to be a sour feeling rising from my stomach, and my head was also in pain, with waves of pain spreading from somewhere to my entire brain.
At times like these, I become more sensitive to external noises; every sound is pounding on my nerves.
There seemed to be a slight movement outside the carriage. Did someone pass by?
Someone... opened the door?
"Claire?" A voice called out to me, and I opened my eyes to see Willotte looking at me with a furrowed brow. "What's wrong? Are you carsick again?"
What's Willotte doing here?
My muddled mind cleared slightly, but I felt nauseous and immediately covered my mouth, my face turning an unhealthy red.
The Petit sisters stood anxiously by, unsure of what to do.
“You’re really carsick.” Willotte took out her wand, her brows furrowed the whole time. “Relax, Claire, you’ll be fine.”
Willotte uttered a spell softly. My mind couldn't tell what kind of spell it was, but I could clearly feel the pain lessening. I relaxed a little, but I still kept my body hunched over.
“This magic can slow down your senses,” Willotte explained. “Most motion sickness is dizziness caused by the brain misinterpreting things.”
I am indeed much better, and Willow continued to cast a few healing spells for me—maybe I'm out of my mind, but my first thought was that Willow knew so many spells, I was really confused.
I stretched and sat up straight again.
"Thank you, I'm alright now, Willotte," I said sincerely, my breathing becoming steady.
But Willotte's expression didn't improve; the way she looked at me gave me the strange illusion of a teacher, filled with some kind of dissatisfaction.
“Claire, are you sure you’re alright?” Willotte said, putting away her wand. “You seem to have caught a bit of a cold again.”
what?
I was perfectly fine when I got on the bus... How could this be? I didn't even feel anything. I've been sick before, but there were always warning signs...
Something seems wrong.
I sensed something was off, but I didn't say anything.
"I might have caught a bit of a cold," I said. "I'll go to the medical wing when we get to Hogwarts, I should be fine."
"..." Willotte didn't say anything.
"Claire, you should rest a bit more," Padma couldn't help but say.
"Mm," I replied.
“…I’ll go find a teacher, or the prefect, if you’re still not feeling well after we get off the bus, just go straight to the medical wing, don’t go to the auditorium,” Willotte said. She was very efficient and left quickly.
I scratched my head. I felt like Willotte's attitude had changed a bit. It was different from last time. There was more... um... genuineness? It wasn't the superficial concern she used to have.
After all, we spent some time together, so maybe Willotte really does consider me a friend.
I thought so.
