Chapter 100 Ginny's Thoughts
Ginny was a little nervous.
A group of young wizards, just like her—some nervous, some calm, some excited—were chattering about what kind of Sorting Ceremony they would face later.
Today is the day she enrolls at Hogwarts. She can finally live the kind of life her brother lives, the Hogwarts that her brother usually complains about at home but also looks forward to!
Ron is always worried about his homework. Percy tells Ginny to follow the rules. George and Fred laugh and joke around, and Ginny loves listening to their stories from Hogwarts and about their amazing and strange classmates. However, Ginny still feels that she doesn't have to listen to them completely because they usually don't mind making jokes that they think are harmless, which can easily cause trouble for the younger siblings.
The Sorting Ceremony was a little different from what her brothers had said. Ginny was sorted into Gryffindor by the Sorting Hat, which was exactly what she had hoped for, since everyone in the Weasley family was a Gryffindor!
As Ginny entered the already divided crowd, she couldn't help but quiet down. Her lack of money made her feel embarrassed, and she tugged at her robe, trying to cover the clothes underneath.
Many of the clothes she wore were old robes and clothes that her brothers had handed over and altered. Mrs. Molly had already cleaned them very carefully, but that did not diminish their age and outdatedness. Almost all of her belongings were second-hand because they were cheap. Some items had even passed through several of her brothers before reaching Ginny, and were full of the marks of time.
Although Ginny was a little insecure, she was not ashamed of it. She knew very well how hard her parents worked to raise money for the textbooks and she knew about her family's situation. She loved her family, but when the young wizards her age cast curious glances at her, Ginny still felt embarrassed and powerless.
The days that followed at Hogwarts were filled with both joy and awkwardness. Not all the young wizards were understanding, and there were always those who would mock Ginny. However, Ginny was not one to be trifled with; she would fight back fiercely, her courage shining through.
As Mrs. Molly said, Ginny was very sensible—but that meant she was bound to have more on her mind.
Her admiration for the famous Harry Potter, her anger at her naughty brothers, her hatred for her unfriendly classmates, her longing for a better and richer life... she buried all of these things deep in her heart, pretending not to care.
Under these circumstances, the desire to confide in someone and the desire to make a change kept swirling in Ginny's mind.
If only... if only someone could listen to her and comfort her.
Ginny thought.
She held a small hope.
Perhaps she could trust that diary a little more; after all, he had said he wouldn't tell anyone her secrets, that he was just a diary she could communicate with... Ginny knew she couldn't trust just anyone, but she really longed for someone to listen to her innermost thoughts.
Just as she was lost in thought, Ginny snapped back to reality, stopped in her tracks, and looked around in confusion.
She is lost.
The layout of Hogwarts was complicated, and she hadn't quite figured it out yet. Maybe she should ask a classmate, Ginny thought. She hesitated, unsure of what to do, until a black-haired student called softly from behind her.
"Hello there!"
Ginny was startled and quickly turned around.
The person behind her seemed to realize that his actions had startled Ginny, so he immediately apologized profusely.
"I'm so sorry, I just noticed you seemed to be standing here, so I was wondering if you couldn't find your classroom." She said, her tone a little strange, but not awkward; instead, it had a unique gentleness that made it feel unoffensive. "I hope I haven't bothered you."
Ginny was stunned for a moment, her mind seemingly blank for a second, and she vaguely told the person her destination.
“This place… it’s on the other side of this building, it’s really hard to find,” the woman said. She thought for a moment, then easily took out a neatly folded piece of paper from her pocket and handed it to Ginny. “Perhaps you can look at this map to get there. It’s simple, but you should be able to see the route.”
“By the way, I’m Minley from Hufflepuff, but everyone usually calls me Claire.” She introduced herself, smiling with her eyes crinkling. “If you still can’t find your way, you can ask the ghosts around, or if you need, I can take you there directly.”
“You’re a freshman, right? Don’t be nervous. Every year, many students get lost at Hogwarts. It’s not just freshmen; even people who have been there for several years get lost sometimes,” Claire said, her expression gradually softening, making her appear more gentle.
"I...I understand..." Ginny, not wanting to trouble others, quickly refused the senior named Claire, "No need to trouble you, senior..."
This refusal did indeed stem from not wanting to trouble others, but somehow, Ginny seemed to feel ashamed, and a little bit of inexplicable dark psychology appeared in her mind—the person in front of her was visibly very different from her.
The soft, comfortable robe, still glossy, was clearly newly made. The neat and organized attire, the well-tied tie, and the perfectly aligned buttons all contributed to the overall impression. The bright eyes conveyed understanding and competence, and a subtle fragrance wafted from the map as it was handed to the wearer—not like incense, but more like the sweet scent one might develop from prolonged exposure to the kitchen… These small details, however, pieced together a peaceful and warm atmosphere.
Without a doubt, this senior named Claire possessed everything Ginny longed for; she seemed to be the epitome of all that was beautiful. Her excessive beauty even made Ginny want to shrink away and leave for a moment.
Claire kept her eyes and brows gentle as she looked at Ginny. Normally, the gaze of classmates would make Ginny uncomfortable; she was afraid and disgusted that her embarrassment would be seen. But Claire's gaze did not make Ginny feel like she was being scrutinized or pitied.
What's this……
Ginny's nervousness slowly dissipated as Claire smiled.
“Thank you…” Ginny said. “My name is Ginny Weasley.”
Ginny introduced herself to Claire with mixed feelings.
“I understand,” Claire said. “It’s nice to meet you, Ginny.”
The calm tone revealed the owner's good mood, but just a few words gave Ginny an unusual feeling that spread from her heart to her whole body, to the point that her cheeks slowly flushed.
Ginny even had some inexplicable thoughts.
The person in front of her was speaking to her with a very respectful attitude.
It's not about scrutiny or pity, but about cherishing.
Why do you cherish Ginny?
“It’s alright,” Claire replied, waving her hand. Before leaving, she smiled and told Ginny to get to her destination soon before walking away with steady steps.
What a strange senior.
What a gentle senior.
Ginny stared blankly at Claire's departing figure.
After the day ended, she secretly took out her diary.
"Tom, I met a senior today, her name is Claire... I heard from a few other seniors that she's from China, very popular in Hufflepuff, and has a great personality... It seems like nobody dislikes her..." Ginny unconsciously wrote down her thoughts about Claire, "She's kind, gentle, but also strange..."
What's strange about it?
Tom Riddle's handwriting slowly emerged as he encouraged Ginny to write down more of her thoughts and more about the outside world.
Who is this person? Are you bothered by her? Perhaps you can tell me, and maybe I can help you resolve this situation better.
“She, she…” Ginny blushed and murmured as she wrote, “She’s so beautiful.”
"She smells so good."
Tom Riddle: ...
Why does it feel weird?
We're not talking about Harry Potter anymore?
