Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 76 Linta vs. Locke
Since the cub appeared, Red-Haired Locke had no intention of pursuing it.
No need, there's absolutely no need to chase. The fact that its mother has appeared means it won't abandon her and run away. Therefore, when the cub tries to lure him into a chase, Locke feigns pursuit while secretly gathering his magic power to unleash a silver-level killing move.
"Success, great success! Haha!" Locke laughed heartily.
In my eyes, I saw a large, agile white-headed leopard mother, her chest a brilliant crimson. Her mournful howls were even more melodious and pleasing to the ear.
Abilgai, who was watching this scene from afar, froze in shock, staring blankly, at a loss for what to do.
"Ow...!"
The young animal let out a series of excited and painful screams, and its body, which was about to leave, turned back and chased after its mother.
"Roar!"
The leopard mother let out her last roar before dying, a roar that shook the heavens.
Any intelligent being would know what that roar meant.
The young animal stopped in its tracks, hesitant and in pain.
But his enemies did not hesitate at all.
"what!"
Locke charged toward the two-spotted leopard cub with a maniacal laugh, giving it no chance to escape.
"Whoosh!!!"
Suddenly, more than a dozen flying objects pierced the night sky and attacked the red-haired Locke.
Locke sensed the killing intent and swung his double-edged axe to the side to block.
"Clang! Bang!!"
The objects of the attack were all stones, sharp, cone-shaped flying stones.
"Magician?"
Locke immediately realized that the one who used this sneak attack skill must be a mage. Such a distance was far beyond what a curious magic user could achieve; it required a certain level of precise control over magical power.
"Ok?"
To Locke's surprise, the ambush magician emerged from the darkness and appeared right under his nose.
The person who appeared was the same female mage I had seen in the guild.
"So it's you. Your name is... Abilgei? Right?" Locke chuckled as he looked at the resentful Abilgei.
Locke glanced at the dead Bald. "You killed Bald? Did you? You came to take revenge."
Abirgay did not answer, his gaze fixed on the young animal child.
The two-spotted leopard cub looked at its mother with teary eyes, then noticed Abirge, whose gaze was sincere and who, though silent, seemed to understand its meaning.
"Ow...!"
The cub, a two-spotted leopard, turned and fled.
"Let's go! Just kidding!"
Locke, who was already on guard, swung his great axe, unleashing a magical blade that frightened the cub back several steps.
"Go!" Abilge shouted at him, waving his staff, sending boulders flying through the air and hurtling towards Locke.
Locke immediately unleashed his full magical power, determined not to allow the cub to escape.
While wielding his axe to parry Abilgai's attacks, he also pursued the cub. Abilgai could only relentlessly attack, trying his best to entangle and stop Locke.
After exchanging magical blows with Abirgay a few times, the red-haired Locke immediately understood his earlier doubts.
No wonder this female mage appeared before him. Her magic was running low. At such a distance, she couldn't unleash many attacks, let alone maintain speed and accuracy. So? Had this woman gone mad?
Locke couldn't understand why the other party would intervene to stop him. Even if they succeeded, so what? The cub escaped, and she would die! How did that good-for-nothing Baldr get killed by this idiot?
"Flying rocks!"
Abirgay chanted incantations and unleashed a barrage of magical attacks.
A barrage of stones flew through the air, shooting towards Locke like arrows. It was all she could do. Why did she do it? She didn't know herself. Her body moved beyond her control, and then she struck. She hadn't thought about the consequences, nor did she care.
"Bang!! Bang!"
"That's enough!" Locke shouted angrily at Abilge. He could feel the other's magic power weakening.
He raised his arm and swung his axe, striking back with a powerful blow.
"Fuck!"
A flashing axe blade cut through the wind, heading straight for Abiergai.
Abirgay's eyes widened. Although he saw the attack, he was powerless to use "Spirit Wind" to dodge it.
"Oh!"
The axe blade sliced through the air, striking the mountain rocks directly.
"Huh? He actually dodged it..." Locke said in surprise.
"No!" Her eyes widened as she looked closely and realized that Abirgai hadn't dodged on her own; rather, some dark thing had pushed her away.
"what?"
Locke stared in astonishment at the figure that blended into the darkness of the night. It seemed to be a person, but it had no face, no clothes or decorations, and was entirely black.
"Ow..."
"You came all this way, and I had to look for you everywhere," Linta said helplessly to Abiergai.
Locke's eyes darkened, and he looked in another direction.
The guy in that guild who was with this female mage.
Abilgai looked bitterly at Linta, who had come to find him.
Linta returned to the original place, looking for Abirgay, but unexpectedly, she chased the monster and Locke here.
As for what happened during that process, I can guess.
"Another one who doesn't know what's good for him," Locke said disdainfully, gripping the axe handle tightly.
Bronze level is nothing. Even if it's high-level, so what? I'm a Silver-ranked warrior with years of experience in battle. I'm not some weak Silver-ranked person with good luck and talent.
"Awooo!" The cub stopped fleeing and cried out towards Linta.
It was less of a shout and more of a plea.
Linta twisted her neck and sighed, "Eh."
Locke was somewhat surprised. The cub wasn't running away anymore? What did that mean? Did it think this guy could avenge you?
“I have a question to ask,” Linta suddenly said to Locke.
"Huh?" Locke frowned slightly, looking puzzled.
Lin Ta asked, "If you form a team this time and catch this little guy to sell for money, how many people will get a share?"
Locke chuckled. "I'm a man of principle. Whoever is alive, I'll give them a share of the money."
Abilge gritted his teeth, understanding the other person's meaning. If anyone "accidentally" dies while hunting, then you're out of luck.
Linta nodded. "I see."
“I have a question too,” Locke said.
Linta: "Go ahead and ask."
"I want to ask..." "Bang!"
Before he could finish speaking, Locke leaped forward, raised his great axe, its cold light fierce, and brought it down with murderous intent.
"Watch out!" Abilgay shouted worriedly.
Lin Ta watched calmly and composedly, his heart as still as a deep well.
7 of Hearts, Swift Wind!
“Whoosh! Whoosh!”
"Clang! Bang!"
The axe struck, blasting the ground, magic splashing, and earth and rocks crumbling.
Locke's face darkened, and he muttered resentfully, "Tch, their reaction was pretty quick..."
Abirgay broke out in a cold sweat. Although this redhead was only a low-level Silver rank cultivator, his methods were quite cunning. Ordinary magic users would only suffer losses in a fight against him. Fortunately, Linta reacted in time, otherwise it would have been over immediately.
Linta, who was a dozen steps away, calmly looked at his enemy Locke and said indifferently, "You, a Silver, do you need these petty tricks to fight against a mere Bronze?"
Locke's forehead veins bulged, and his face revealed a murderous aura. "Hmph, fine, I'll just use pure strength to chop you to pieces!"
