Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 63 Abilge
Linta, wielding his staff as a weapon, closed in on the side of the red-maned boar's head and struck it in the side of its head with "Justice Thrust." The magical force of the thrust instantly penetrated the boar's brain, severely damaging its nerves.
"Ow...!"
With a final, mournful cry, the bronze mid-tier magical beast, the Red-Maned Boar, collapsed with a "thud!", its massive body creating countless splashes in the waterfall pool.
"Phew... all done." Linta exhaled softly, put down his staff, and said with a faint smile.
The female magician in the distance stared in disbelief.
Although they knew how to subdue the red-maned boar, putting it into practice was extremely difficult and fraught with danger. Especially with this berserk boar, its danger level had reached the high-level Bronze rank. Yet, this young man before them accomplished it all with effortless precision. Unbelievable, utterly absurd!
Who is he?
The female magician approached with doubt, first cautiously examining the fallen red-maned boar, and only breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that it would not wake up again.
"Thank you for saving me. My name is Abirgay, a magician. May I ask your name?"
The magician, Abirgay, bowed sincerely in gratitude.
"Linta, my name is Linta." Linta readily gave her name.
Of course, in the eyes of people in this world, one's own name is either a surname or a given name, and rather strangely rare.
“Linta…” Abilgei repeated the name a few times in his mind, then thanked him again.
"Yes, here's your staff." Linta returned the staff to the other person.
Abirge took the staff, his feelings complicated. It was the first time he had realized that his staff, which he had enhanced with earth magic, could actually be used for melee thrusts. He seemed to recall seeing something like this recorded in the deeds of an ancient mage.
"Abiergei, what should we do with this monster?" Linta asked, pointing at the red-maned boar.
Abiergai snapped out of his daze and said sincerely, "This belongs to you. Do with it as you please."
"Really?" Linta said with some delight, his gaze fixed on the enormous wild boar monster.
It's so big, we can't finish it.
“The truly useful part of this red-bristled boar is its tusks, which can be auctioned off,” Abiergai explained.
"Is that so?" Linta murmured to himself, approaching the pair of sharp, menacing fangs.
These fangs have killed countless beastmen and humans; the more I look at them, the more valuable they seem.
Then, Linta removed the tusks. He then began processing the remaining boar carcass. Most dead animals need to be dealt with immediately, otherwise they will quickly rot and stink, especially their internal organs. With some knowledge from his time-traveling adventures, Linta, relying on a few memories, dissected the red-bristled boar.
The magician Abirgay was stunned.
I've seen plenty of monster hunting and disembowelment, but I've never seen a method like Linta's before, a method that's so disciplined.
I have this inexplicable suspicion that his family is a pig slaughterhouse?
As Linta killed the monsters, he talked to Abirgai: "Where did these monster boars come from? There don't seem to be any monsters around here, right?"
Lin Ta, who has been exercising in the nearby mountains and forests, has a basic understanding of the surrounding area.
This area belongs to noble territory. Magical beasts were wiped out long ago during the expansion. Even if some remain, they are weak and of low status. Large magical beasts like the Red-maned Boar shouldn't exist here.
Abirge explained, "It came from the unexplored Bude Mountains."
“Undeveloped land…” Linta pondered his understanding of this term.
Whether the land has been expanded or not, it all belongs to the Kingdom of Mordley. However, there are significant differences between the two.
To reward their nobles, the king would grant them territories to govern. The nobles would only need to pay tribute regularly. These territories were typically only partially developed, inhabited, and used for agriculture and animal husbandry. The remaining land was considered undeveloped. This undeveloped land was generally teeming with magical beasts and fraught with danger. If nobles wanted to access the resources of these areas, they had to find ways to develop them themselves. Of course, even after development, they would still have to pay tribute for the local resources.
Over millennia of development, a set of rules has formed for unexplored territories. Resources in unexplored lands belong to the capable. In other words, any magical beasts or plants adventurers desire, and if they can obtain them, are theirs. This, of course, does not include territory. This rule has fueled the desires of adventurers, drawing them to unexplored territories to hunt. This is advantageous to nobles who own territories. It not only weakens the threat of magical beasts within their territories but also reduces the burden on future expansion. Some unexplored territories are even used to attract magic-wielding adventurers, thereby boosting the prosperity of their respective prefectures.
"I failed in my hunt and was chased here," Abilgay said with emotion.
Linta said, "It's too much for you to hunt this kind of magical beast alone. You should find some companions."
“Companion…” Upon hearing this, Abirgay’s eyes immediately burned with hatred and rage.
"I did look for one. I found a hunting partner in the Adventurers' Guild. But that guy, seeing how fierce the monster was, told me to lure it away while he ran off alone!"
Linta blinked.
I really didn't expect the other party to encounter such a thing.
Then she thought of herself, and her companions she had met before—Shia, Jingon, and the others—it was nothing short of a miracle. They were all just prisoners in the same jail van, and through numerous dangerous encounters, none of them abandoned the others. What else could it be but a miracle?
"That guy!" Abirgay was filled with rage as he recalled picking up the "companion" who had bullied him and abandoned him.
"Alright." At this moment, Linta finished dealing with the red-bristled boar.
Besides the pair of most valuable tusks, Linta also took the best meat from the red-bristled boar, and had to reluctantly discard the rest. It was simply inconvenient to take it away.
Abierge watched as Linta busied himself for a while, and in the end, he actually took the meat, which was hard to believe.
I definitely wouldn't want it; it's too troublesome and complicated, and I can't even lift it, plus it smells terrible.
Linta could only burn the meat that he couldn't take away with the Fireball spell to prevent it from rotting and smelling bad near the waterfall.
"Whoosh!" "Sizzle!"
This perfectly executed "Fireball" technique once again surprised Abiergai.
Is the other person really not a mage? Their fire magic is quite impressive.
"I'm going back to the city. Do as you please."
Linta smiled and said that she was waiting to take the good meat back and cook it.
“Sandel City, is it? Let’s go together, I’m going back too,” Abiergay said.
Lin Ta nodded slightly, carrying dozens of kilograms of good pork, and hurried back to the city.
Abirgai's normal walking pace was far too slow for Linta, so he had to use the "Wind" magic to speed up his pace.
However, this drain on his magic power was very difficult for Abilgay, who had just fought a great battle, and he finally gave up the pursuit after a while.
He became even more convinced that this Lintaen could not possibly be a mage. What mage possessed such physical strength? That fire spell, "Fireball," was merely an accident.
Just after Abiergai gave up, Linta's pace suddenly slowed down as well.
"Abiergei, um, why do you hunt magical beasts?"
Linta asked, seemingly lost in thought.
"Huh?" Abirgay didn't quite react, and said blankly, "Money, there's money in hunting monsters."
Linta smiled knowingly; he had had this idea when the other party mentioned the undeveloped land.
In this world, the best way to make money is related to magic users. The best way to make money without restrictions or limitations is to hunt magical beasts.
"Please tell me the specifics!"
