Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 30 Goblin Stone
The main city of Sandel County is simply called "Sandel City." As one of the lowest-ranking counties in the Mordley Kingdom, having a strange name for its main city would only make it less well-known. While Sandel City may not be considered significant within the Mordley Kingdom, it is undoubtedly the most prosperous place in the entire county. Trade routes from all over are connected by official roads, ensuring that goods entering the county inevitably converge here.
After many hardships, Linta and the others finally arrived at their destination.
Everything in the city finally gave Linta a pleasant surprise. The city was bustling and lively, with carriages and horses passing through, and shops selling colorful goods, full of vitality. Moreover, the city environment was comfortable, no longer filthy everywhere, and lush green plants were interspersed among the pale yellow buildings. The streets and avenues were paved with smooth and neatly patterned stone bricks.
“That’s more like it…” Linta said, his eyes darting left and right.
Shia, standing to the side, raised an eyebrow and asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
"It's nothing." Linta smiled faintly, glancing at Jingon. "Where is your friend?"
Everyone has come to Sandel City with only one purpose: to safely break the magic-blocking ring through the friends of Gingon.
Kim Gong said happily, "Come with me!"
He skillfully led everyone through the city's streets and alleys.
Along the way, Jingong said with great enthusiasm, "I used to come to Sandel City often. I met my friend there during those trips. That guy's craftsmanship is really good. He's a master at making extremely delicate things!"
"He's Bruce Stone, a goblin."
“Goblins? I’ve never seen a goblin before,” Pinecone said gently.
"La la la," it quacked, trying to express itself, but no one could understand it.
Shia remained indifferent, completely unconcerned about goblins or not.
Linta was slightly curious. Goblins, you mean green-skinned goblins? He'd never seen that race before.
Jingon chattered on and on, passing countless street corners before arriving at a street that sold all sorts of goods. Weapons, armor, magical artifacts, potions, and more were available. This street was called "Cone Street," a favorite haunt of adventurers who used magic.
At that moment, a group of people on the street were gathered, whispering and staring at something.
Jingong's eyes darkened. "That's the stone shop."
Immediately, his barrel-like body charged forward, shouting, "Get out of the way! Get out of the way! What's happening!"
Linta sensed something was wrong; from his height, he could see armored soldiers among the crowd. But no matter what, he had to go and see.
"Let me go! It has nothing to do with me! What does it have to do with me! Are you all pig-brains?!" A goblin wearing round-framed glasses and a leather and linen shirt shouted angrily. At this moment, he was being grabbed by the shoulders by two soldiers in standard armor, who were shaking his legs in the air.
"Put down the stone!" Jin Gong roared angrily, hammer in hand.
"Copper Hammer! I am innocent!" Goblin Stone was overjoyed to see his old friend and cried out to him.
Kim Gong demanded, "What crime did my friend commit that you're arresting him? Explain yourself, no one is taking him away!"
"Dwarf, are you an accomplice too?" a somewhat contemptuous voice asked.
Linta looked at the speaker with a deep gaze.
The other person was dressed in bright armor, with brown hair tied in a ponytail, and a handsome face that exuded pride and confidence.
"Who are you!" Jin Gong said angrily, looking up at the man.
The man said, "I am Mok Besson, a knight of the guard under Duke Vasquez of Sandel City. This goblin murdered Luc Reno, the owner of a magical artifact shop. I am acting in the duty of the city guard to apprehend this villain. Will you stop me?"
This knight, named Mok Besson, exudes a magical aura that suppresses Gingon.
"Flame Fox" Mok Besson, a high-ranking Silver Knight. The most famous knight in Sandel City. Jingon had heard of his name many times during his visits to the city, but today was their first meeting.
Jingon faced off against a knight far stronger than himself. Though he was not afraid, he was aware of the seriousness of the situation.
"Stone, did you really kill someone? Why weren't you more careful? You got caught so quickly," Jin Gong asked.
"You little brat! Don't talk nonsense here, I didn't!" the goblin stone cursed angrily.
Knight Moke scoffed, "The evidence is conclusive. Stop shouting and take him back."
The soldiers who had grabbed the goblin stone lifted him up and carried him away; no one dared to stop them. Jingon could only stand there, stamping his feet in frustration. Even if he was impulsive and agitated, he wasn't a fool. To attack Flamefox Mok would only lead to death.
"Copper Hammer! Are you just going to watch me get taken away?! Help me!" the goblin stone yelled, his voice fading into the distance.
Mok Besson, the Flame Fox Knight, also took the opportunity to leave.
Linta watched with a somber expression as everything came to an end.
The crowd gradually dispersed, each returning home to do their own thing.
Jin Gong gritted his teeth, restless and unsure of what to do.
In the end, he only said to Linta and Shia, "My friend said he didn't kill anyone, so he definitely didn't!"
“Yes, I believe you,” Linta nodded, his eyes sincere.
Shia said coldly, "That guy's brain looks like it's made of stone, and he's so skinny, he can't kill anyone."
“He doesn’t seem like a bad person,” Pinecone said calmly.
"Guala la la!"
When Jin Gong saw everyone's response, his expression softened considerably, but his face remained etched with worry and melancholy.
"So what if it wasn't him? Now, he's been identified. How can we save him?"
Shia said coldly, "Breaking out of prison isn't actually difficult, but you need to know the location and characteristics of the prison, and the shifts in guard duty."
Linta's heart skipped a beat. "Don't talk nonsense. We're not going to break you out of prison."
After saying that, he glanced around, afraid that someone with ulterior motives might overhear him and cause unnecessary misunderstandings.
Having transmigrated here and barely escaped from prison, I don't want to be back to living a life of escape and peril. Can't I just have some peace and quiet?
"Anyway, let's find a place to settle down first, and then discuss what to do, okay?" Linta suggested.
Jin Gongyan said, "Then let's go to Shi Tou's house."
……
With a loud "clang!", Gingon smashed the lock on the goblin Bruce Stone's door with a hammer.
The brass lock was extremely exquisite, and it looked like it was made by the goblin stone.
"Make yourself at home, don't be shy."
Jin Gong pushed open the door and said without any politeness.
The little fishman, quacking and squawking, was the first to enter. After all, this low door was quite tall for him.
Linta was caught in a dilemma; this door... was a bit short.
He looked up at the house, which was at least two stories high, and wondered if he could go inside.
Shia bowed slightly and entered. A voice then came from inside, "Come in, the ceiling is high enough."
"Really?" Linta entered with delight, only to find that the ceiling was just above her head!
For the bear-man Pinecone, getting inside was a difficult task. After finally squeezing in, he couldn't even stand up and had to sit down. Fortunately, the room was spacious enough to accommodate everyone.
After all, this is the residence of a magical artifact refiner! Materials, blueprints, and unfinished forgings are everywhere.
As soon as Jin Gong came in, he searched the house for alcohol, and finally said with disappointment and disdain, "This guy, after all these years, still doesn't drink a drop. Boring, no fun!"
Linta sighed, "Let's think about what to do next."
Pinecone and Guagua, there's no way to help them, don't expect their answers.
Shia's meaning is simple: break him out of prison.
Kim Gong agreed, saying, "I'll go back and check where the prison is and the surrounding buildings. You don't need to help; he's my friend, not yours."
Lin Ta looked speechless and said bitterly, "Everyone, can't you think about how to investigate the truth and find the real culprit?"
Seriously, am I just too out of place?
