Iya Continent: Card God
Chapter 10 Choice
Before dawn, only a faint light shone in the east, as if the sun was about to emerge from its cocoon.
The air was crisp and damp; yesterday's heavy rain had made the entire river area look like a baby bird that had fallen into the water.
Lin Ta and his companions left Hexi Village quietly, ensuring that no one knew they had come or gone. Apart from the elderly couple who had hosted them, no one in the village knew that Lin Ta and his group had been there.
“Heading south, past Wuqie, we’ll reach Sandel. We’re heading to the main city of Sandel, where my friend does business,” Jingon said slowly.
"Okay, I got it," Linta replied.
After all, if he didn't reply, the guys present wouldn't pay any attention to GimGoon.
Beneath Pinecone's fierce exterior lies a憨憨 (simple-minded) nature. While Gua Gaga talks to everyone, no one understands his words except Pinecone. Shia is not only aloof, but her words also carry a sharp edge. If you exchange a few words with her, be prepared to be mocked.
"How long will it take us?" Linta asked.
Jin Gong replied, "That depends on the route. If we take the main road, we can travel during the day and rest at night, and it will take about ten days to arrive. If we take a side road, or travel day and night, that's a different story."
Ten days?
Such a long timeframe was truly frustrating for Lin Ta, the transmigrator. But there wasn't much he could do; that's just how transportation was in this strange world.
"Could we speed things up, like by buying a carriage?" Linta asked.
Kim Gong laughed, finding it ridiculous, and said, "Hahaha, great idea. But where do we buy it?"
Linta frowned. "Where do you usually go?"
Shia coldly replied, "The city."
Linta asked, "Where is the nearest city?"
Jingon replied, “The nearest city is to the west, Mag. It’s a Count’s territory. We’re in the countryside now, and it’ll take quite a while to get there. But that’s a minor issue. The problem is, we’re prisoners. Now that we’ve escaped, do you think they’ll put us on the wanted list? If we want to buy horses and carriages, will they notice and find out?”
Linta nodded slightly. "That's true."
As a newcomer, Linta was still learning about many common-sense matters. This continent of Iya had many similarities to the Western medieval world he had traveled from, but also many differences. Linta remained humble, not daring to arrogantly believe he had a complete understanding of everything.
"It seems we really shouldn't get close to the city," Linta said.
Jingong chuckled and said, "It's not that serious. We're just a few ordinary bronze prisoners, not at the point of being wanted nationwide. At most, we'll be wanted here in Wuyue. Once we leave here, we'll be safe in other provinces and cities. That's always been the case on the continent of Iya."
Linta learned a little more at this point.
Committing a crime is bad, but as long as it's not a serious crime, you can still start over by escaping to another place.
Thinking of this, Linta recalled the witch "Lilith" from before.
She is said to be infamous throughout the continent of Iya. What crime did she commit that the entire continent rejects her?
After traveling for an unknown amount of time, the earth finally began to brighten.
"Everyone, squat down."
Suddenly, the elven girl Shia spoke coldly.
Before Linta could react, he pressed Shia's head down to the height of the roadside stone.
Kim Gong paused for a moment before reacting and following along. He asked, puzzled, "What's wrong?"
Shia's expression was sharp as he peered into the distance through the gap in the cover.
A white horse gallops along a shortcut, while a man with a silver-white scar on his face rides above with an aura as sharp as a cold, gleaming sword.
“Only Silver-level beings can ride adult male mountain horses, and that guy is a Silver-level,” Shia said coldly.
Jingon stared at the figure, his brows furrowing. "Could that guy be Silver Dog Rhodes?"
Linta asked in confusion, "Who is he?"
Gingon gritted his teeth and said, "He's the one that Iron Bucket Bruno was supposed to hand over. In the end, he's the one who sent us to the slave camp."
Linta understood. "So he's here to capture us?"
"Coo-coo-caw!" it croaked, its meaning unclear to everyone. But it probably meant that the silver dog, Rhodes, had come with ill intentions.
Shia coldly replied, "It seems so."
Jingong, recalling some rumors about that person, said uneasily, "Let's go, we need to leave quickly! That guy is a Silver-level expert. If he targets us, we won't be able to do anything to him since we can't use magic!"
As they were about to leave quickly, Linta asked, "Was he heading in the direction of the village?"
Linta's gaze was deep as he stared at the direction where the white horse was gradually disappearing into the distance.
Shia replied coldly, "Yes."
“So be it, we’re gone anyway. Let’s hurry up and leave,” Jin Gong said.
Linta's expression was grave as he asked, "What will they do if they find out that the old couple took us in last night?"
Shia looked at Linta and said directly, "It might not be anything serious, but it could also be terrible."
Jingong's heart sank; he had already guessed the fate of the elderly couple. Given the silver dog's abilities, it would likely discover their entry into the village last night. It would probably gather the villagers and question them. Whether the couple answered or not, they would likely be branded as accomplices by the silver dog and possibly beaten to death on the spot.
I had heard of the infamous reputation of the Silver Dog, Rod.
Kim Gong's beard trembled as he said, "What do you mean by asking this? You're not going to go back, are you?"
Linta said in a deep voice, "Bruno of the Iron Bucket made sure to deliver us to the handover in time even in the pouring rain, which shows that this Silver Dog is no pushover. Am I right in my analysis?"
"Quack quack quack." The little fishman nodded.
Pinecone, the bear-man, nodded blankly in agreement.
Shia gazed at Linta silently, without saying a word.
Linta scratched his forehead, looking bitter.
Jingon said solemnly, "Brother Linta, look on the bright side. They're an elderly couple, they won't do anything to them. Besides, they don't know we're fugitives. These knights are all pretentious and chivalrous, they shouldn't make things difficult for us."
"Should? What if?" Linta looked at Jingon and asked in return.
Jin Gong hesitated, as if he wanted to say something but then stopped.
Shia said coldly, "Going back now won't do you any good. Do you think you can defeat that silver dog? Besides, what if you attack those two elders in front of the silver dog? They will definitely suffer trouble afterward and be labeled as accomplices."
"Thank you, I know what to do." Linta smiled gratefully at Shia.
"call!"
A gust of wind swept by, and Linta disappeared from their sight.
Jin Gongzhang shouted, "That guy, is he crazy?!"
A breeze ruffled the elven girl's long, silvery-white hair, and her pupils widened, quickly hardening.
"madness."
