Lin Qingping had no way to deal with the two of them, so she shook her head and let them go.

After finishing her meal, Zhangzhu couldn't wait for Zhiyuan to set up her computer.

“Can’t you use your brother’s computer first? This computer is for the school to use,” Lin Qingping said.

"Oh no!" Zhangzhu said, "What if I lose all the important documents and data on my brother's computer? Besides, I don't need them at school."

"Why don't you need it? Didn't you say the school needed computers and you asked your brother to buy you one?"

"I came back right after class at school, I didn't even have time to use the computer at school!"

"What?" Lin Qingping burst out laughing. "You're going home to live? You're not staying at a hotel?"

Zhangzhu tilted her head as if it were a matter of course, "That's right, my home is so close to the school, just a few stops away, it's very convenient for me to go home."

Lin Qingping couldn't hold back any longer and asked her with a smile, "This is the first time I've heard of a college student who commutes to school. Does the school allow commuting? Besides, you can't even cook. What will you eat if you go home?"

Zhangzhu blinked. "My brother can do it! By the way, Mom, didn't you say you were going to buy my brother a car? Then he can pick me up from school on his way home from work, and we can go home together. Wouldn't that be great!"

Lin Qingping couldn't stop laughing. "That's wonderful! You're so clever! You've got such a brilliant idea!"

"Is that not allowed?" Zhangzhu turned to ask her brother, who was busy setting up her computer. "Brother? I know you have to work the night shift and go on business trips. When you're not free, I'll go home by myself and have dinner at my aunt's house."

Zhiyuan was grinning from ear to ear. "Sure! We'll arrange the work however our daughter does! She's in charge."

Zhangzhu looked back at Lin Qingping: "See, brother said it's okay."

"Of course your brother said yes! When has your brother ever said no to your requests?" Lin Qingping said to her. "If you keep pestering your brother like this, he'll end up serving you. Once he has a sister-in-law, will he still have time to care about you?"

Upon hearing this, Zhangzhu's eyes lit up, and she jumped to Zhiyuan's side, gossiping, "Brother, I have a sister-in-law? Who is she? Take me to meet her!"

Zhiyuan was both amused and exasperated. "No!"

"How could that be?" Zhangzhu rested her chin on her hands, staring at her brother's face with a frown. "My brother is handsome, no less than a star, has good grades, a good job, and has always been an outstanding person. How could no girl like him?"

"Maybe I'm just like Dad in this respect, too dense!" Zhiyuan tapped her forehead. "That's about enough. Come on, let's see what else we need to download. Do you know how to do it yourself?"

Gu Juncheng: ??? I'm so far away, why am I getting dragged into this?

"Yes, yes, I'm so good at it!" Once Zhangzhu got the computer, she immediately forgot about how no one liked her brother.

Lin Qingping remembered Zhangzhu's words about buying Zhiyuan a car, so she asked him, "By the way, I haven't checked you yet. Did you get your driver's license?"

"I passed the exam, Mom," Zhiyuan said hurriedly.

Lin Qingping was satisfied. "When do you have a day off? Go check out the car."

Zhiyuan replied, "Mom, I've already ordered a car."

"You ordered it? When? You didn't even discuss it with me? What kind of car did you order?" Lin Qingping understood immediately after asking. This silly girl just didn't want her to spend any more money, so she ordered the car herself first.

Zhiyuan smiled and said, "I booked it in advance because I thought Zhangzhu would be coming over, and it would be more convenient to take her to school and stuff if I had a car."

Lin Qingping looked around for something handy, then turned around and saw a mop on the balcony. She picked it up and started mopping Zhiyuan.

Zhiyuan was caught off guard and a mop hit him squarely on the leg.

"Mom?" He was shocked. From childhood to adulthood, how could Lin Qingping have ever laid a hand on him?

"Mom, what's wrong?" Zhangzhu was also frightened.

"What did I do wrong? I just spoiled him too much!" Lin Qingping was about to hit him again.

Zhangzhu panicked and grabbed Lin Qingping, shouting at her brother, "Brother, run! How could you be so stupid? You just stood there taking a beating instead of running away!"

Lin Qingping was both annoyed and amused. Was Zhangzhu imparting her experience? She had caused so much trouble when she was young, so she must have gained some experience from it.

Just then, someone knocked on the door.

Zhangzhu panicked, "Brother, hang in there, run quickly, I'll go open the door first."

As Zhangzhu went to open the door, she kept looking back, afraid that her brother might do something foolish again and run away.

When the door opened, Gu Youlian and Xiaomai were standing outside.

Before Gu Youlian could even ask, "When did you get back without saying a word?", Zhangzhu pulled Gu Youlian into the house. "Auntie, quick! My mom's going to beat my brother to death! You have to stop her!"

With guests arriving at home, how could we possibly continue the fight?

Gu Youlian was also curious. When did Lin Qingping ever have the heart to hit Zhiyuan? She couldn't even bring herself to say a harsh word. "What happened? What did Zhiyuan do to make your mother so angry?"

Zhiyuan was also confused; he had no idea what he had done wrong.

"You think you're so capable? You haven't seen the child for so long, and you come back and beat the child. You're so powerful now!" Gu Youlian didn't believe that Zhiyuan had done anything terrible, but... Gu Youlian thought of that girl, her expression tightened, and she said to Xiaomai, "Xiaomai, it's hot in this weather, everyone's irritable. Take Zhiyuan and Zhangzhu to the ice cream shop and buy some popsicles."

This was to get them out of the way. The children all understood, and Xiaomai quickly pulled Zhangzhu and Zhiyuan out.

Gu Youlian whispered to Lin Qingping, "Could it be that Zhiyuan... um... has gotten into trouble?"

Lin Qingping was also confused. Gu Youlian's tone was off; she was stammering, as if she knew some secret. "What trouble have you gotten yourself into?"

"A matter of life and death?" Gu Youlian asked tentatively.

"what?"

"No, no, what I mean is..." Gu Youlian pointed to her abdomen, "He's not young anymore. If something really happens, he can just get married. Why did you hit him?"

Lin Qingping exclaimed "Ha!" again. "There's actually such a thing?"

Xiaomai walked between Zhiyuan and Zhangzhu, asking three times, but neither of them could explain why Lin Qingping was angry.

"Then recreate the scene for me!" Xiaomai was speechless.

Zhiyuan thought for a moment and then reproduced his conversation with Lin Qingping word for word.

Xiaomai chuckled and asked, "Where did I hit you?"

Zhiyuan was taken aback and pointed to his leg.

"Serves you right! You should have hit me harder!" Wheat snorted.

"You know the reason?" Zhiyuan was surprised. How could Xiaomai know something he didn't?

Xiaomai sighed, "I really don't know what to say to you. Do you even understand your aunt?"

"How could I not understand? I understand it better than you do..." Zhiyuan himself sounded guilty as he said the last sentence.

“Li Zhiyuan.” Xiaomai pronounced his full name word by word, “Do you still remember that Spring Festival when your aunt went crazy and dragged you back from your maternal grandfather’s house?”

"Do you remember when you were sick with a fever, and your aunt carried you to the hospital and stayed up all night watching over you?"

"Do you remember that from childhood to adulthood, your aunt always gave you the best of everything, from the food you ate to the clothes you wore?"

"Do you still remember..."

He could talk for three days and three nights about how good Lin Qingping had been to him, how could he not remember? He remembered every little thing, but what did it have to do with today's events?

“She treats you like her own son, and what she can’t stand the most is you becoming distant from her. But you’ve grown up, become independent, and always want to distance yourself from her, treating her with an attitude of ‘I can finally repay her kindness.’ To her, that means four words: ‘different treatment for close and distant.’ You’ve never treated her like your own mother.”
