Rebirth: Supreme Soul Master

Chapter 45 Who Says I'm Not a Soul Master

William didn't know the answers to these strange questions. He felt he was missing out on a lot of truth. If that master wasn't there, how would the Bronze Lizard Clan and the others know what he had done back then? He couldn't even find a complete and flawed explanation.

Just as he was lost in thought, he heard the principal's loud and powerful voice.

"Then let's hear his explanation," the principal said, waving everyone away. The last thing he wanted to see was his academy's strongest members fighting amongst themselves.

Especially since all of this was led by the Bronze Lizard Clan, whom he personally disliked.

At that moment, everyone looked up at William. William could sense the complex emotions conveyed by each person. Some were angry, others expressed support, but most remained neutral.

“You heard what the Bronze Lizard Chieftain said to you,” the Dean gestured for William to come forward, “What are your thoughts on that?”

“That’s all nonsense!” William’s first words were so heavy and rude that they immediately caused a great uproar in the hall.

"Quiet!" The headmaster's voice was loud this time, showing his displeasure with William's words. "I hope you won't try to insult us before you die."

“Headmaster, I have no suicidal thoughts.” William lowered his head slightly, a humble expression on his small face, but it vanished in the next moment. “But if others try to fabricate an interesting story and accuse me, and I haven’t made any promises, then I cannot respect them.”

"Gatekeeper, watch your tongue, or I won't be polite to anyone here and will kill you!"

Guo immediately spoke in a domineering tone with a threat, but William didn't even glance at him.

"I've heard some lame accusations and some foolish things about what I did. Respected Headmaster, may I ask a simple question... is this the Academy of Desire or the Golden Sky Academy?"

Even the principal frowned upon hearing this, but he remained silent without saying anything.

But the people around them started to stir again. The principal glanced around, and everything fell silent again.

William hadn't lost his mind, nor did he act as if he had nothing to lose or was indifferent to his life. He felt his enemy had a tight noose around his neck. If he wanted to escape this situation, caution and respect were the last things he wanted to do.

"We are the Academy of Desire; to call us lackeys of the Golden Sky Academy is not fitting," William said, his tone and attitude brimming with pride and power. He added, "Our two academies are not just rivals, but enemies. If either of us encounters either of them, then a life-or-death battle must ensue."

William took a deep breath and said loudly, "I killed those disciples of the Golden Heaven Academy, nine of them with my own hands. I have nothing to be ashamed of here, let alone a crime."

"Shameless! You're a porter, not a Soul Master." The leader of the scout department chuckled. "You still call my men liars? They saw you, they saw everything you did over there."

"You saw me? Fine, make me believe you. You said I encountered a Dark Soul Master, right?"

"Yes, you are a traitor, and you can't escape it," Guo said viciously, while also expressing his support for the elder who led the scout division.

“That’s good. Then I’ll have to ask a highly respected elder to explain this matter.” William said, turning around to face one of the elders who had randomly appeared among those who were hostile to him.

"Dark-type Soul Masters are renowned for their mysterious and ferocious dark elemental techniques. How could a mere group of scouts not only discover our movements but also escape without being captured and killed?"

The elder's face grew even more somber, and William continued loudly to all the elders present:

"If detecting Dark Soul Masters were so simple and safe, why has the Investigation Department never succeeded before? Not only our academy's Investigation Department, but any skilled investigator would find it extremely difficult and risky. Therefore..."

William was not exaggerating. This applies not only to this world, but also to the vast world outside.

Dark Soul Masters possess extremely treacherous and difficult-to-master methods for detecting those who attempt to monitor or track them. The end result is often either futile effort or a brutal battle, leaving most of the scout Soul Masters dead or severely wounded.

"Are you saying I'm a liar? Have you gone mad, you damn garbage collector?" The reconnaissance department leader's voice was low and filled with a death threat.

“Whether you’re a porter or not, I can’t accuse you of anything,” William shrugged, as if such a threat meant nothing to him. “If you insist on your point of view, you must explain these accusations to everyone here, including the headmaster.”

"And what about what you said before?" Guo didn't let the elder fall into William's trap, and continued, "You said you killed them? How could that be? A mere porter killed a Bronze-level Soul Master? A whole group of them? Since that's the case, then I'll just say I'm the strongest Soul Master in the world!"

William knew that the ferocious-looking Soul Master intended to strike his vitals, but he showed no anger on his face. Instead, a warm smile appeared.

"Who said I'm not a Soul Master?"
