William was not discouraged. He took the sword and slung the bag over his shoulder. Just as he was about to take a step forward, he was blocked by a group of people opposite him.

There were five of them, all significantly taller than him. He stopped when he noticed them, as they looked up at him as if they were witnessing something interesting.

“Wow! Look what we have here,” one of them said mockingly. He was almost twenty centimeters taller than William. He stood there with broad shoulders and bulging abs, showing just how strong the guy was.

His long brown hair extends all the way down his back, a family trademark. Combined with his bronze eyes and light bronze skin, he is definitely a member of the bronze lizard family.

William recalled what he knew about such a family: arrogant, filthy schemers, an insatiable thirst for power… all these negative thoughts flashed through his mind as he recognized the boy’s family.

They are one of the most powerful families in the Academy and the Kingdom, known for their brutality and tyranny.

Even William recalled being abused and harassed by the children in the family on more than one occasion. Looking back on it all felt like an old dream, yet it still stirred his passion.

“Young master, he’s a porter, one of those useless kids our academy sympathizes with,” another child said, whose features were very similar to the young master’s.

Upon hearing the title the kid had just mentioned, William knew he had encountered a scoundrel in the academy. That scoundrel was Guan Ning, who had been considered a child prodigy by the entire academy since he was six years old.

He was known to all as one of the biggest bullies in the entire college. He held such racist views about people like William who came from disadvantaged or impoverished families and clans.

In Guan Ning's view, not everyone deserves to have resources wasted on them. In his opinion, people like William should be slaves, not treated as equals like him.

“Get out of here,” Guan Ning said in his usual arrogant tone. “People like you should go to bed early so that you can wake up refreshed and ready to serve people like me.”

William gripped the sword hilt calmly. Someone like Guan Ning couldn't even stir a shred of worry in his heart. In William's eyes, Guan Ning was a loser, a spoiled child from birth.

He didn't strive for what others desired, nor did he even consider what he already possessed worthwhile. However, William hadn't lost his composure; the difference in strength at this moment was simply too great.

“I have to go help the people in the forest,” William said calmly, without showing any weakness.

"Are you tired of living?" Another child stepped forward, pointing a long curved knife at William. "If you don't leave, don't blame me for teaching you a lesson."

"Hmph," even with a clear disparity in strength, William had no intention of retreating. He wasn't without options. He still possessed extensive combat experience and numerous trump cards to rely on.

Even if he can't beat them, no matter how hard they try, he won't get hurt.

“If you don’t clear a path for me, I’ll scream and call the guards,” William threatened. “This is the academy’s grounds, not your family’s.” However, William decided to play by the rules and use the simplest trick to get out of the predicament.

"You..." The child was startled by William's words. Before he could react, a loud shout came from behind William, making everyone stop.

"He's here to help me. Do you have any questions?"

William turned around and saw a beautiful young woman walking steadily toward him. She wore a long white robe that covered her body, ending at her ankles.

She had a small nose, big, round eyes, tan lips, small cheeks, and long, messy red hair that fell loosely over her shoulders. Her dress revealed two slender, elegant slits from her neck to her arms, showing the pointed tips of her shoulders.

Red hair, red eyes, very beautiful features, and the courage to stand up against someone like Guan Ning... William instantly recalled a name from his old memories that matched this angelic face. Guan Ning exclaimed the name in surprise.

"Berry... what are you doing here in the middle of the night?!"

“It’s none of your business,” Berry said, stepping next to William. “Blocking my movers’ path isn’t a good thing. Don’t you have anything better to do?”

"Hmph, someone with a soul power level of 99 said," Guan Ning said with a disdainful look, "If it weren't for your father, I wouldn't even give you a second glance!"

“Then go back to your mother. I heard she worries when you’re not around,” Berry said, welcoming her with a different tone and expression of mockery.

He saw her standing just a few steps away. Although she was the same age as William, she was taller than him, which made the latter feel a little embarrassed.

He knew her. She had once been called the Dragon Clan's Pure Angel. The Dragon Clan was different from the Bronze Lizard Clan. It was a large clan with many other clans serving it.

Bailey happens to be the only daughter of the current acting patriarch of the family, and the granddaughter of the old patriarch who is known as the Fire Dragon of the World.

But in the eyes of many, including Guan Ning, she was considered a failure. She entered the academy two years ago with a soul power of eighty-eight, making her a genius.

However, two years have passed, and her soul power remains stagnant at the level 99 bottleneck, showing no signs of breaking through. But this is not the end of her tragic story.
