Rebirth: Supreme Soul Master
Chapter 19 Soul Master's Oath
She wanted to dissuade him from doing such a thing. But who told her that William was so weak or simple-minded?
“I know some methods of forging myself, but I haven’t had time to try them before,” he lied. After all, by the standards of this world, William was already considered a genius in forging.
"I just wanted to use the empty room to test my skills and make what I needed."
“Okay,” she said, though she didn’t believe a word he said, she decided to temporarily stop her daily run and led him to a small house in the forging department.
The place wasn't spacious, but it had everything William needed: an oven, an anvil, a table for molds, and plenty of wood and ore for the forging process.
William looked at these things and couldn't help but smile. He had come specifically for these items.
But before he can do anything, he must first solve a problem.
The master stood in the doorway with her arms crossed. Her expression seemed to say: "Come on, tell me what you'll do!"
"Ahem, I don't want to waste Master's precious time." He cleared his throat, trying his best to appear respectful.
“I have nothing to do,” the master’s reply effectively ended any possibility of kicking her out. William could hardly believe that he had traveled all this way only to be stopped by this master.
William knew his forging methods were on a completely different level compared to those used in the world. So if the master craftsman stayed there watching him, she would discover just how strange his methods were. This could potentially cause him trouble.
"I have something to confess." He couldn't kick her out, so he had to find another way.
"What? You can't forge, right? You were just joking... What was that? A poker game? A 'dare or not' game your disciples played to make them lose, you were just trying to lighten their load. Their shoulders?"
Upon hearing this, a look of sudden realization flashed in the woman's eyes. She had never believed him. She believed he had come here for something other than forging.
“No, not exactly.” William slowly shook his head, his expression turning serious. “I already have a blacksmith. He asked me to come here to help him with a task.”
"A master from the academy?" The woman's expression didn't change much, but her gaze was sharp as she looked at William.
“He is someone you may not know,” William said, perhaps somewhat rudely, but he had to continue. “He is not one of the academy’s masters, but my teacher’s teachings are his top secret. If my teacher is willing, and if I wish to stay, then I must ask you to promise not to reveal what you have seen here.”
This was his bottom line. If she didn't agree, he would have to abandon the idea of forging arrows here and find another place to make them.
The woman remained silent, her gaze sharp, for a long time before suddenly laughing. “This is very interesting,” she said, as if she had heard some kind of joke. “I, Alina, swear by my very spirit that I will preserve everything I have witnessed here.”
This was a sacred vow, one of the most solemn vows in the spirit world. Contrary to William's expectations, the master seemed amused by the little porter before him and decided to play with him indefinitely.
When she made such a solemn vow, she did not back down. She didn't believe a single word William said.
She never imagined that this little boy could do something she didn't know. From the very beginning, she didn't believe he was capable of forging!
“That’s great.” William’s expression relaxed considerably after recovering from the surprise of her unexpected action. Now he could start working without any burden or worry.
The first thing he did was empty the bag of ore and clay. The appearance of clay surprised Alina, as they were rarely used in the forging world. However, when she saw the vibrant, scarlet ore, she was immediately horrified.
"What exactly do you want to do? Take those dangerous cursed ores away right now! Do you want to die?" She couldn't control her fear and even took a few steps back.
Who isn't familiar with the destructive effects of using such ore in forging? Even the most skilled expert wouldn't risk using such ore.
"Calm down, I know what I'm doing." William didn't explain anything, picked up a piece of ore, and examined it in his hand. Seeing Alina's frightened expression was truly amusing.
“These will explode if they come into contact with fire or spiritual energy,” Elena sensed that William was unaware of how dangerous these scarlet, vibrant ores were. “Take them away quickly!”
“I know that,” William said before going to examine the materials he had collected in the corner, “and I’m not tired of this life of abandoning myself.”
"Then why did you bring them out?" Alina never expected William to be able to handle such ore.
This ore is taboo in the forging world. Many Soul Masters have lost their lives while attempting to use it. William's fear is perfectly natural.
“I’ll show you my master’s special trick,” William said, picking up a few pieces of white wood and tossing them into the oven. “You’re very lucky to be here.”
“This…” Elena didn’t know why, but William’s tone and attitude seemed completely inconsistent with his appearance, status, and age. “Fine, if you want to die, then die, but I won’t let you destroy this place.”
As she spoke, she took out a large sphere and instantly absorbed her soul power into it. The sphere hummed, as if it had come alive, and instantly released a shield that enveloped the space inside the building.
William looked around. The shield looked sturdy enough to withstand even the attack of a gold-level monster. It covered him and what was inside, protecting the building's walls from the impending explosion.
“This is my creation,” Elina said proudly. “Of course you can’t appreciate it, but it’s enough to ensure that the explosive contents inside won’t leak out.”
“Okay,” William shrugged, as if the gesture didn’t bother him at all. Elena was suspicious of him. In other circumstances, she might have even kicked him away, preventing him from doing anything.
But William's words had piqued her interest; she was a notorious morbidly curious person. She wanted to see what William could do with his dangerous things.
