Rebirth: Supreme Soul Master
Chapter 14 Heading to the Academy Market
But who cares! William doesn't care about such a loss. Losing spirit crystals temporarily, but gaining a lot more tomorrow, is a worthwhile trade for him.
This time, he worked diligently and quickly, collecting his spoils from all the other monkeys scattered around. His backpack couldn't even hold more than a dozen monster materials. Even with the continuous consumption of demon cores, the bag was already full.
But this did not stop William. After absorbing all the monkey cores, his personal strength underwent a greater change than before.
His soul power stagnated, increasing from twelve to thirty! He reached thirty in just a few hours, not to mention that he absorbed the cores of more than three hundred monkeys to achieve this.
But these monkeys were all low-level white-grade monsters. When he finished, he put the loot he had collected into a large bag on his back, which he had crudely made using broad leaves he had gathered from the surrounding forest.
He wasn't in a hurry to leave. After all, the thrill and excitement of becoming stronger in such a short time was priceless.
"Damn it! I swear, if she were around, even my master would curse me." He smiled happily, then suddenly remembered something.
Although he had gained something, he knew that the soul power he obtained from these monkey cores would become thin and useless after passing the twenty-five levels.
"If I use crystals, I can buy higher-level monster cores? Forget white cores, even bronze cores might be a bit expensive, but I believe one of them is worth more than a hundred white cores. And these too." Higher-level cores will definitely give me more soul power…
Thinking about this, he suddenly realized how lucky that fox was. With just this one ability, William now saw the world in a completely different way.
“It’s time to go back,” he said, as he packed all his spoils into a rather primitive-looking bag made of broad leaves sewn together with ropes gathered from nearby whole trees, and began to drag it all back to the college.
From a distance, one would be astonished. A frail human, dragging a huge pile of spoils, looks like he's carrying a small mountain behind him.
But this wasn't William's main concern at the moment. He was terrified that if other disciples saw this, it would cause consequences within the academy.
The guards were all elite disciples of the academy, some even masters. But fortunately, when he returned, none of them came back.
What he didn't know was that what had happened to Berry was shocking the entire academy.
Upon discovery, the guards immediately took her stiff body back to the academy's high teachers. They examined her body but could not find the cause of her current strange state.
The masters were puzzled and worried that something bad had happened to her, so they brought the news back to their clan.
The next few hours were filled with excitement at the Academy headquarters. Berry's father was nearly driven mad when he discovered his beloved daughter's strange condition.
He sent many doctors to examine her, but to no avail. No one had ever seen such a strange case before.
So ignorant, he's gone mad. If anything were to happen to his daughter, even the Grandmaster of the academy would threaten her with a brutal war.
His daughter, in the eyes of the academy, might be considered a crippled Soul Master. But they would never dare to risk going to war with the Fire Dragon Clan.
They weren't afraid of their mad father, but of the terrifying grandfather standing behind him. They all prayed that nothing bad would happen and that the young lady would wake up before the news reached her dreadful grandfather.
Otherwise... even if she wakes up again, it will probably be too late by now.
William, the mastermind behind all this chaos, remained completely unaware of it all. He returned to his simple cupboard, thankful that he hadn't encountered anyone on his way back.
Once he got there, he began to think about how to store the things in his bag.
Seeing how much he had amassed, he had to take everything, almost everything, even his bed, out of the cupboard. This was the only way to clear enough space to store the spoils in the cupboard and start organizing things there.
Once finished, there was limited space inside for him to sleep. Despite this, he wasn't discouraged at all. Instead, he began to consider his gains from the night and how to purchase more cores.
Excited, he slept until the next morning. As soon as the sun rose, he packed up all his spoils and strode towards the college's bustling main market.
A college is more than just a place of learning. Without a strong financial foundation, nothing can withstand the cruel effects of time.
On one side of the academy, near the main gate, a large market was permitted. To prevent anyone from sneaking into the academy and disturbing the disciples and masters, a high wall was built around the market, limiting its space and making it easier for guards to watch over it.
The journey to the market took nearly an hour. Although he didn't encounter anyone during his walk, he paid no attention to it. His mind was completely absorbed in the limitless potential of his newly discovered devouring power.
After summarizing everything he had gained from the trip, William tested his newfound strength. He also enthusiastically examined and tested his mental power.
He estimated that his physical strength had exceeded what his soul power could achieve. Moreover, in this short period of time, he had gained five more points of spirit value, indicating that his body was still digesting the consumed core.
He held onto everything he had earned the night before, until he was getting closer and closer to the market. There he began to meet some disciples.
The sight of him effortlessly dragging that huge pile of things stunned passersby.
He had been working as a porter at the academy for two years, helping many students during their daily classes. Even if the students were too lazy to remember his name, they would definitely remember his face and recognize his white porter uniform.
His extraordinary strength puzzled them all. The porters were known for their weakness and fragility, but the evidence this child presented defied that logic.
William ignored them. After all, he planned to use the crystals he had acquired to quickly improve his strength. His goal was to break through the hundredth level and enter a new realm.
