Doomsday B&B

Chapter 21 Opening of the Children's Park

Because of some problems with the children's playground, it didn't open until a day later. On the night before the opening, Qi Yun prepared some promotional posters and hung them in the blank space of the convenience store.

Early in the morning, after getting up and having breakfast, Qi Yun started to wander around and eventually came to a convenience store. It was already 10 o'clock when she arrived. She sat down behind the counter and prepared to add some facilities to the guesthouse.

Upon opening the system, the first step was to upgrade the outermost ordinary fence, increasing its height. Then, the first 100 courtyards were enclosed with a 2-meter-high fence, with a gate at the front and a large sign next to each gate. The sign at the front gate read "Front Gate of Guesthouse Zone 1," and the sign at the back gate also read "Back Gate of Guesthouse Zone 1." This process was repeated for the remaining 100 courtyards, forming Zone 2. Future courtyards would be built in groups of 100, each separated by a 2-meter fence.

After dividing the area into zones, Qi Yun planted trees and flowers along the fences of Zones 1 and 2. After making these settings, Qi Yun clicked the confirmation button, and the entire guesthouse instantly changed.

After finishing these tasks, Qi Yun left the counter and went to the children's playground. There were already quite a few children in the playground, and parents were watching their children play outside.

After entering the children's playground, Kong Yunhua was putting books on the bookshelf when Qi Yun came to his side and asked:

"Brother Kong, how is it?"

"That's great. Just now, a parent told me that adults usually have to stay indoors when they want to go out, and they're always worried about something happening, especially the kids. Now that there's a children's playground, they can leave their kids here without worry, and they can go out and collect supplies and fight zombies in peace."

"Hmm, that's good. I noticed there aren't any children reading here."

“They haven’t played on those game facilities for so long, so they’re having a blast. Once they’ve had their fill, they’ll come and read. And even if they don’t want to read, their parents will let them.”

"Yes, that's right. Brother Kong, did those parents raise any objections?"

"It really does."

"Oh, what is it?"

"Younger children still need to be cared for. These facilities and books are basically designed for children over 5 years old to operate and use independently."

"Okay, Brother Kong, I'll put up a job posting here to hire an auntie to do these things. We'll hire one first, and then add more staff as we expand." As he spoke, Qi Yun hung the job posting that Tuan Tuan had prepared on the counter of the children's playground.

After putting down the job postings, Qi Yun was about to leave, since there was nothing more for him to do there. But Kong Yunhua spoke up again:

"Boss, in that case, I suggest you set up a separate childcare center specifically for these younger children, but that would require hiring two caregivers at once."

"why?"

"Because the childcare hours are uncertain, the two caregivers can take turns working."

"Okay, let's do it this way. I'll expand along the rest area and build a separate room there for childcare for younger children. I'll leave this job posting here for now. If you find someone suitable, just decide to hire them. Once we've hired two caregivers, we'll open the childcare center. I plan to open two doors to the center: one in the partition of the convenience store and the other in the partition wall between the children's playground rest area and the childcare center. I'll also partition off two small rooms in the rest area for the caregivers to rest in. Having one door will be more convenient."

"Also, Brother Kong, do you have any suggestions for the hosting center? How about this, after I expand the space, I'll give you the authority to renovate it. Can you design it? Anyway, you'll be in charge of this place from now on."

"Me? Sure, I've done some research on this before."

"Okay, then Brother Kong, you're the one who should do more. Send me the book list every day after you've chosen the books, and I'll prepare them. Can you put the books away by yourself?"

"Sure, I've numbered the bookshelves and labeled them. I've also categorized the books and decided where to put them. This way, I can store a lot of books at once."

"Okay, then you go ahead and do your work. I'm leaving."

"Okay, bye boss."

"See you."

Upon arriving at the convenience store counter, Qi Huan was talking to a woman in her thirties.

"Sister Qi Huan."

"Boss, you've come at the perfect time! We have someone here who wants to apply for a job."

"Oh, that's great."

"Please introduce yourself first."

"Hello boss, my name is Qian Shumei, I am 40 years old. I used to be a life teacher at a kindergarten. Although I have never worked as a cashier before, I will do it very seriously."

"Well, convenience stores aren't exactly short-staffed."

Upon hearing Qi Yun's words, Qian Shumei immediately became dejected.

"However, I'm planning to open another childcare center. You'd be a good fit, but you can only start working here after we hire another person."

"Really? Boss, that's great! I wonder what other requirements this childcare center has? Can we have a preschool teacher?"

"If she's a kindergarten teacher, that would be even better. Do you know anyone there?"

"To be honest, my daughter is studying to be a preschool teacher. Although she hasn't worked yet, she studied at a preschool teacher training school for two years and did an internship during her studies."

"Okay, then call me over so I can take a look."

"Boss, can I bring her over tomorrow? My daughter asked me to come for a job interview. She's an old neighbor of mine who went out to find supplies."

"Okay, if she comes back early, just bring her over to show Sister Qi Huan. If she comes back late, we can talk about it tomorrow. Did Sister Qi Huan tell you that we have a probationary period and that we need to sign a temporary contract first, and then sign a formal contract after we pass the probationary period?"

“I told you, I told you, I told you everything. Okay, then when your daughter comes back, bring this to Sister Qi Huan to see. I’ll leave a temporary worker contract. If it’s suitable, Sister Qi Huan, just have her sign it directly, and then take her to the staff dormitory courtyard and let them choose a room.”

"thank you boss."

"Okay, boss."

"Well, Sister Qian, if there's nothing else, you can go to the children's playground and report to Sister Qi Huan's husband. He will be in charge of your area from now on. He's currently designing the after-school care center, so you can give him your feedback. I've already given you the employee access permissions."

"Okay, boss, I'll be right there." Qian Shumei was a straightforward person, and she left immediately.

"Sister Qi Huan, I'm sorry, you should hire more people. But I'm planning to hire two more people for the children's playground and two more for the convenience store cashiers. It would be best if the children's playground staff were teachers or had relevant experience. You can decide on the cashier positions."

"Here are a few temporary worker contracts. Just sign any suitable one. I trust you with that, okay?"

"Sure, of course you can. I should thank you for trusting me."

"Hehe, Sister Qi Huan, I'm liking you more and more, what should I do?"

"No way, if you like me, what will happen to my husband?" After saying that, they both laughed.

"Sister Qi Huan, once we've hired someone, you and Brother Kong will work the fixed 8-hour early shift. The other two waiters can take turns doing the remaining middle and late shifts. That way, your family of four can go out and come home together every day."

"Well then, this humble woman thanks you in advance, sir." She then performed a standard ancient lady's gesture of thanks.

Qi Yun's eyes lit up:

"Sister Qi Huan, you can do this too?"

"That's right. Don't you know who I am? I'm a seasoned Hanfu enthusiast. I used to have a whole room full of Hanfu and accessories. But after the apocalypse, some people paid back the money, and some were thrown away." Qi Huan lowered her head somewhat dejectedly as she spoke.

"It's alright, Sister Qi Huan, I don't have any. I have Hanfu and accessories. Besides, I think we're about the same size. Come to my house after get off work, and I'll give you a few sets. You'll look absolutely stunning wearing Hanfu when you do this ceremony."

"That won't do!"

"Why not? I'm in charge. Remember to come!" With that, Qi Yun ran off.
