Transcending Heavens: My Cheat Code is Myself
Chapter 25 Natural Magic
The two ascended the spiral staircase to the eighth floor, where a wooden door stood at the end of the corridor, adorned with a griffin-headed knocker. Professor McGonagall stepped forward and gently knocked on the knocker.
The door opened automatically without asking for a password. Professor McGonagall led Chen Feng into the room, where he immediately saw a large table covered with snacks.
Meanwhile, the wise old man was sitting at the table, happily eating snacks.
The leisurely old man suddenly looked distressed. "The smell of boogers is really hard to avoid."
“Dumbledore, I’ve brought Chen Feng with me,” Professor McGonagall reminded him from the side.
"Okay, thank you for your help, Minerva. Chen Feng and I have something we want to talk about privately." Dumbledore nodded and said with a smile, then put down the snacks he was holding and came to Chen Feng.
"Before I leave, there's something I want to tell you." Professor McGonagall suddenly walked quickly to Dumbledore and whispered about the strange things that had happened on the Black Lake that day.
"An accident?" Dumbledore's voice held a hint of contemplation. "No trace of spellcasting was found? No one was carrying a wand? Then it can only be an accident. Let's leave it at that."
If the traces of the spell could even fool Professor McGonagall's examination, then it has to be said that the spellcaster's strength is probably no less than his, and this joke is not funny at all.
What's the point? Just to get revenge on a few junior wizards? That's absurd; it could only be an accident.
“I understand.” Professor McGonagall nodded. Dumbledore’s conclusion was naturally convincing, so she had no objections and turned to leave the office.
"You must be Chen Feng? I've heard Sprout mention your name to me every day, and for a while I even thought you'd given her some favors." Dumbledore said with a smile, "Please sit down, young wizard Chen Feng."
As Dumbledore tossed snacks into his own mouth, he beckoned Chen Feng to join him. Just as Chen Feng took the snacks from Dumbledore's hand, their eyes met, and Dumbledore inadvertently activated Legilimency once again.
'It's a shame this white-bearded old man doesn't play melee combat; I suggest he try close-quarters combat.'
"Ah, this..." Dumbledore was speechless for a moment. As a wizard, and currently the strongest white wizard, there was no way he would engage in close combat. He could only say that the little wizard was full of imagination. The suggestion was good, but he shouldn't make the same suggestion again.
Dumbledore never considered the idea that Chen Feng had learned Occlumency. Just a few days ago, Chen Feng was an orphan who didn't even know what the wizarding world was. In just a few days, he had become a wizard with Occlumency maxed out. No matter how rich one's imagination was, no one would have thought of this.
"I have a family-inherited shaving technique. Those with white beards are in luck! I'll shave them—isn't that free advertising? People will be green with envy!"
Dumbledore was both amused and exasperated. Losing control of himself had only brought him trouble; the young wizard's imagination was truly boundless, and he couldn't stop talking about his mustache. To protect his mustache, Dumbledore quickly got to the point:
"Because you are an orphan, we naturally classified your parents as Muggles in your investigation. But later I felt that I was a bit hasty, and that this idea was somewhat inaccurate."
“I think your parents must be from a mysterious wizarding family in the East, otherwise it would be hard to explain your amazing natural magic.”
"Compared to us, the wizarding families of the East place more emphasis on the unity of man and nature, which coincides with your magical attributes. Perhaps you are a descendant of a Taoist master, and it is not impossible that you have ended up here."
Chen Feng shrugged and said nonchalantly, "I don't know who my parents are or where they're from, but I am indeed an orphan."
Those who are family know their own situation. Chen Feng's strength was all obtained through free labor and has absolutely nothing to do with Taoism. Headmaster Dumbledore has probably gone astray, but he has come up with a reasonable explanation for himself, so Chen Feng naturally won't add anything unnecessary.
"Also, Mr. Dumbledore, I don't know if it's just my imagination, but I feel like some of my thoughts have vanished."
Chen Feng muttered under his breath, "You've gone a bit too far with this [Soul-Seizing Technique]. If I didn't have any shame, I would have done you a huge job." Suddenly, Chen Feng's face stiffened, as if he had already lost face during the division ceremony earlier.
“I’m sorry, Chen Feng. This is one of the few bad habits I’ve had in all my years as headmaster. I’m always careful and cautious in everything I do, but I’ve forgotten about other more important things. It’s my fault.” Dumbledore said sincerely. “I’m sorry, from your perspective, this is indeed a very infuriating thing, but I’ve come to regard this as a bad habit. Habits are never easy to break, and it takes time to correct them. I hope you can give this old man some time.”
Dumbledore was incredibly cunning. His greatest strength was his impeccable speech and his ability to win people over with sincerity and kindness. He apologized when he needed to without any pretense.
Chen Feng mentally complained that now that he had said this, the matter was over. Next time he was subjected to "Mind Control," he could just say that he had changed his habits and hadn't finished changing them yet.
Seeing Chen Feng deep in thought, Dumbledore chuckled inwardly and said with a smile, "As compensation, I can grant you some reasonable requests, such as providing some scholarships."
“I love reading!” Chen Feng shook his head, decisively passing on the money option. “I have plenty of money right now. I can’t even use up all the Galleons. What use is money? I’d rather have more magical knowledge.” He said decisively, “Headmaster Dumbledore, if possible, I would like to open more areas of the library to me. I want to learn more.”
Chen Feng's request immediately surprised Dumbledore. He had originally thought that a child who could turn lead into gold and needed the academy to pay for his studies would not refuse financial help.
I never imagined that I had misjudged Chen Feng.
Dumbledore praised, "As a wizard, this is undoubtedly the wisest choice. Wizards must never forget to learn, but you must know that more knowledge is not always better. Moreover, much knowledge is inherently dangerous, and it is difficult to be at ease with a child your age."
"Moreover, you've only just started school, and your academic workload is already quite heavy. A lot of basic knowledge is crucial. There's a saying in the East that goes, 'A tall building rises from the ground,' which is due to a solid foundation. The same applies to becoming a wizard. If you want to become a great wizard, you can't rush things. Instead, you need to build a solid foundation and take each step carefully."
"So, I can only apologize for your request, but don't be discouraged. I will keep this suggestion in mind, and it's not out of the question when the time is right."
Chen Feng didn't press the matter further. After all that he'd said, the gist was that it wouldn't work, and he was only saying it for his own good. As for when the right time would come...
Chen Feng was prepared for Dumbledore's refusal. After all, there were already brilliant examples before him, and Dumbledore couldn't possibly fall into the same trap twice. It's just a case of the ancients cutting down trees and the later ones getting exposed to the sun; the ancients can't help but emulate me.
It's already quite impressive that Professor Dumbledore made a promise. Chen Feng only needs to keep demonstrating his amazing talent and use his maxed-out Occlumency to naturally change Dumbledore's mind. He'll get his hands on the knowledge in the library sooner or later.
Dumbledore admired Chen Feng's maturity, which far exceeded that of his peers. Other children would not have let it go so easily.
"Sprout told me how incredible and powerful your magic is, but I haven't actually seen it with my own eyes, so can I see it?"
Professor Dumbledore was like a kind old grandfather next door, asking questions with gentle sincerity that made people feel warm and friendly. If other wizards had Dumbledore's power, they would be looking down on him, let alone being kind. They would be considered morally superior if they didn't become dark wizards to indulge in their fantasies.
Chen Feng nodded, indicating that he could demonstrate.
Dumbledore reached out and tapped the air a few times, his fingertips bursting with beautiful colors.
Yugadim Leviosa! (Floating spell).
Immediately afterwards, the magic wand on the desk flew into his hand.
Casting spells without a wand!
He raised his hand and placed the magic wand into Chen Feng's hand.
“This is a wand that I had prepared in advance,” Dumbledore said with a smile. “It’s similar to your wand.”
"Of course, the core of this wand is just a unicorn feather, not the precious Bai Ze heartstring. The two are of different levels of rarity. However, unicorn feather is known for its inclusiveness and stability. Although it is not as comfortable to use as yours, it is still barely enough."
Chen Feng silently accepted the wand, thinking to himself, "Actually, I wouldn't mind if you gave me the Elder Wand, but I can only dream about it. Even if Dumbledore had Alzheimer's, he wouldn't do something so stupid as to give a newborn Elder Wand to him."
But what if? Chen Feng was really curious: with his stacked magic power, plus the amplification from Wood Release, how much power would it produce when it met the Elder Wand made of Elderwood and Thestral tail feathers?
I'm afraid that, at the very least, this principal's office is beyond saving.
And those portraits on the wall that have been making faces and lacking any principal authority from the very beginning will probably also face annihilation.
Seeing that Chen Feng hadn't moved for a while, Dumbledore assumed he was worried that the wand shop incident would happen again. He felt a little relieved and smiled, "It's alright, don't be afraid, child. No matter what happens, I will stop it. Go ahead and wave your wand and unleash your magic."
Practice makes perfect. Although it was only his third time touching the wand, Chen Feng was a man of immense talent and comprehension. He had already developed his own understanding of how to release magic. In Chen Feng's view, this was both simple and difficult. It was simply a matter of concentrating and controlling one's magic.
Under Dumbledore's watchful eye, Chen Feng channeled his magic into his wand, gently raised his hand, and began to wave it.
