Chapter 9 Mission Completed
The ghostly butterfly silently attached itself to the dragon's bones, and in that instant, countless intertwined lines of death appeared in the air. These lines seemed to extend from the bones themselves, outlining the Black King Nidhogg's vulnerability.
“Now,” Tian said coldly, his golden eyes flashing with a resolute light.
Lu Mingfei glanced at the lines of death, realizing the opportunity was fleeting. Without hesitation, he quickly focused his mind and used a sealing technique to guide the power of the runes towards the lines of death.
"Bam—!"
With a deafening explosion, the power within the dragon bone instantly crumbled. The lines of death, like thin threads being severed, rapidly disintegrated, and the dragon bone let out a painful roar, the entire ruins seemingly trembling at its fury.
Purple-blue butterflies fluttered in the air, gradually dissipating as the dragon bones collapsed. The terrifying black flames also crumbled with the power of the Word of Power, eventually turning into wisps of black smoke and dissipating into the air.
The Black King's resurgence has been completely prevented.
Lu Mingfei slumped to the ground, panting heavily, his heart still pounding. He glanced at the sky and saw that the other person's eyes had returned to normal; the golden light in their pupils had vanished, as if that oppressive feeling had never existed.
"You... that word of power just now..." Lu Mingfei asked breathlessly, his voice filled with undisguised astonishment.
Tian coldly sheathed his dual pistols, his tone remaining calm: "The Butterfly of Instant Death can reveal the enemy's death lines. As long as those lines are found and severed, no matter how powerful the enemy is, they will collapse instantly."
Lu Mingfei felt a chill run down his spine. He knew the power of Words of Power was incredibly strong, but the Words of Power of Heaven were simply unimaginable. If that power were used on him…
“So, you’ve been hiding your power all along,” Lu Mingfei said in a low voice, his mind filled with questions. “Why did you help the academy? With your power…”
A fleeting, almost imperceptible emotion flashed in Tian's eyes. He didn't answer directly, but instead looked into the distance, his tone cold yet carrying a hint of deeper meaning: "I've said it before, my goal isn't the academy, but the curse of the dragon race."
Lu Mingfei fell silent. He felt he had only glimpsed the tip of the iceberg of Tian's power, yet he still couldn't grasp the boy's true motives. Tian's power was immense, and his past was shrouded in untold secrets.
"Let's go." Tian turned around, his gaze indifferent. "The Black King has been sealed away. The mission here is complete."
Lu Mingfei stood up. Although he was still exhausted, he knew that this was far from over. The shadow of the dragons still loomed over the world, and his fate and Tian's fate might be further intertwined because of this mission.
The two figures disappeared into the night, leaving only the broken altar and the gradually dissipating fragments of dragon bones within the ruins.
Outside Kassel College, the ruins deep in the forest have returned to silence, and the threat of the Black King Nidhogg has been completely eliminated.
After completing the sealing, Lu Mingfei and Tian returned to the academy, exhausted and wary.
When they returned to the academy, Chu Zihang and Caesar were already waiting in the command center. Caesar stood there as always, his blond hair gleaming under the lights, exuding confidence and authority. Chu Zihang stood quietly to the side, his expression unchanged, his eyes revealing coldness and composure.
"You're back," Chu Zihang said calmly, his gaze sweeping over the two of them, lingering particularly long on Tian, as if trying to glean more information from him.
"Yes, we're finally back alive." Lu Mingfei scratched his head, forcing a smile. "But the situation was much more dangerous than expected. The Black King's power almost fully revived."
Caesar crossed his arms, gave a light snort, and said with a hint of disdain, "I thought you would run away halfway, Lu Mingfei. I didn't expect you to stick it out to the end."
"Hey, Caesar, I'm still somewhat useful, okay?" Lu Mingfei couldn't help but retort, but he knew in his heart that what Caesar said wasn't entirely unreasonable.
"The seal is indeed complete, but the process was more complicated than we expected," Tian said briefly, looking calmly at Chu Zihang as if he were giving a mission report.
Chu Zihang nodded, clearly satisfied with the result, but he also noticed Tian's unusual power. "When we received the report, the agents had already sensed the resurgence of the dragons, but you still managed to stop it. Especially you, Tian. The academy doesn't know much about your abilities, but the power you just displayed clearly surpasses that of ordinary users of Word of Power."
Tian narrowed his eyes slightly, seemingly uninterested in Chu Zihang's comments, and coldly said, "My power is not something the academy can control."
A sudden tension filled the air. Caesar chuckled softly, his gaze sweeping meaningfully between Tian and Chu Zihang. "It seems our academy has gained another mysterious powerhouse. But you're right, the academy doesn't need to know all your secrets, as long as you can complete the mission."
Lu Mingfei glanced at Chu Zihang, then looked at Caesar, thinking to himself: Sure enough, the power of the heavens has piqued their interest.
But he knew that Tian would not easily reveal his past to anyone.
After the mission was completed, night fell, and Kassel College returned to its usual tranquility.
A few days later, daily life at Kassel College returned to normal.
The sky was clear, and sunlight shone on the college's lawn. Lu Mingfei, Chu Zihang, Caesar, and Tian met on the playground, and the air was filled with the faint scent of grass.
Lu Mingfei sat on the grass, holding a thick textbook, but he didn't absorb much of it. His attention was always drawn to the sky not far away, to the ever-aloof white-haired boy who seemed to have never integrated into the daily life of the academy.
"Heavens, you never train, aren't you afraid of being caught off guard by missions?" Caesar suddenly spoke, his tone tinged with provocation.
Tian turned his head, his gaze sweeping indifferently over Caesar, and replied expressionlessly, "My fighting style is different from yours."
Caesar chuckled, a hint of sarcasm in his voice. "Is that so? Different fighting styles? I thought victory on the battlefield was about strength, not style."
Chu Zihang stood aside, calmly observing the two, seemingly having no intention of getting involved in this pointless argument. As a seasoned warrior, he preferred to prove himself through actions rather than debating who was stronger.
Lu Mingfei sensed the tension in the air and tried to ease the atmosphere, "Alright, alright, everyone's amazing! Let's talk about something lighter, like the next mission?"
Caesar snorted softly, turned his head, and stopped provoking Tian. Tian also ignored him, simply standing there indifferently, as if everything around him was irrelevant.
"Tian, don't you think you should integrate into some of the college life?" Lu Mingfei couldn't help but ask, his tone tinged with concern.
Tian didn't answer immediately, but glanced at Lu Mingfei, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes. "I don't belong here." His voice was cold, yet tinged with loneliness.
Lu Mingfei was slightly taken aback. He sensed a suppressed emotion in Tian's tone. This feeling was not unfamiliar; it was as if Tian had always carried a heavy destiny, a destiny that made him incompatible with the academy and the people around him.
Chu Zihang broke the silence at the right moment and calmly said, "Since you are in the academy, you will integrate into it sooner or later. No matter where you come from or what you are carrying, you are now a member of the academy."
Caesar stood to the side, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes. "Chu Zihang, you seem quite concerned about him."
Chu Zihang responded calmly, "He is part of the academy; what I care about is the future of the academy."
Tian didn't speak again, but simply closed his eyes gently, as if trying to erase these thoughts from his mind. Deep down, he still felt that lingering sense of destiny, and Kassel College was merely a temporary stop for him.
At Kassel College, sunlight filters through the tall treetops onto the stone paths of the campus, a gentle breeze carries a hint of coolness, and a few pigeons stroll leisurely in the square, making the entire campus appear peaceful and serene.
Lu Mingfei and Tian walked side by side on campus. Although they didn't deliberately talk, Lu Mingfei couldn't help but secretly observe Tian's expression. The white-haired boy's expression remained indifferent, his gaze not falling on anything specific, as if everything around him was irrelevant.
Lu Mingfei couldn't help but break the silence, "Hey, what do you usually do? I feel like every time I see you, you're either on a mission or spacing out alone in some corner of the academy."
