As Tian passed through the final portal of light in the trial grounds alone, everything around him instantly fell into deathly silence. There was no blazing lava, no surging tides, no churning storms, only endless darkness. The ground beneath his feet was cold and hard, like the withered bones deep within the world, while the sky above seemed to have been swallowed up by some invisible force, devoid of stars, devoid of light, and even the flow of time seemed to have stopped.

An indescribable sense of oppression filled the air, as if even one's soul was imprisoned in this deathly silent space. Tian slowly walked forward, each step making his body feel increasingly heavy, as if something was silently devouring his strength, gradually drawing him closer to nothingness.

Ahead, in the depths of darkness, the silhouette of a colossal creature slowly emerged. Its form enveloped the heavens and earth, so immense that words could not describe it. Each scale was like a crack in the earth, each claw like a blade tearing through the sky. Its eyes slightly opened, golden pupils of the abyss, their light piercing the darkness and falling upon the heavens as if gazing upon an insignificant speck of dust.

"Hybrid..." The voice was deep and ancient, as if it had existed since the beginning of the world, carrying the power to destroy everything. "Why have you come here?"

Tian stood still, slightly raising the rune spear in his hand, but he knew that against such a being, weapons were meaningless. The world-destroying dragon before him—Nidhogg—was the incarnation of the Black King Nidhogg, bearing the destruction and end of the world, symbolizing the darkest and most irresistible will of the dragon race.

"To end you." Tian's voice was calm, as if unaffected by the oppressive atmosphere.

“The end?” Nidhogg let out a low laugh, and the entire world trembled, as if its breath could shatter heaven and earth. “You think humanity can stop me? Your so-called ‘trials’ are nothing but the final link to destruction. I exist at the end of time, awaiting the end of the world, and you… are nothing but a speck of dust in the quicksand of time.”

As it whispered, the earth beneath the sky began to crumble, and darkness surged in like a tide, trying to engulf it.

But Tian did not back down. His hand slowly tightened around the rune gun, strands of hair on his forehead fluttering slightly in the darkness. He knew this battle could not be won by brute force. Nidhogg was not merely an enemy, but part of the rules of this world, the inevitable end of all order. To defeat it, he had to find—the true way to break the deadlock.

"You are the end of the world, but the end itself is not immutable." The heavens spoke slowly. "You once devoured the roots of the World Tree and gnawed at the life of the earth. Your existence was destruction itself. But have you ever considered that the true 'end' is not destruction, but rebirth?"

Nidhogg paused for a moment, his massive body lowering slightly, a deep light appearing in his golden eyes.

"Rebirth?" Its voice carried a hint of mockery. "After I destroy everything, how dare you humans talk about rebirth? At the end of life, there is only death and darkness. You are nothing but a futile attempt to struggle at the end of your destiny."

Tian raised his head, his gaze calm as still water.

“The end of life may indeed be death.” He gently pulled the trigger of the rune gun, and a beam of azure light pierced the darkness, but instead of striking Nidhogg, it landed at his feet. Instantly, runes spread through the void, like intertwined chains of fate, connecting the foundations of the world. “But the end of death can also give birth to a new cycle.”

As the runes spread, an unusual glimmer emerged from the darkness, like a faint spark rising from the deepest abyss. Nidhogg's pupils contracted slightly; it was something it had never perceived before—in the human world, could there still be light after death?

"What exactly do you want to do?" Its voice was deep, revealing a hint of uncertainty for the first time.

Tian slowly lowered the rune gun, took a deep breath, and his gaze became even more determined.

“Break this ‘End’.” He stretched out his hand, runes gathering in his palm, transforming into a faint yet steady light. “Your purpose is destruction, but the purpose of the world is never to await destruction, but to constantly struggle, evolve, and transcend. Nidhogg, you devoured the roots of the world, but have you ever truly seen its light?”

Nidhogg fell silent, its massive body leaning slightly forward, its golden eyes fixed on the runic radiance in Tian's hand. The light was faint, yet it seemed capable of piercing the darkness and tearing a rift in the world.

"Light?" Nidhogg murmured, then its mouth split open, letting out a deafening laugh. The laugh was filled with endless mockery and majesty, and with its tremors, the surrounding void began to collapse, darkness materialized, like countless world-devouring tentacles, surging wildly towards the sky.

"You think you can challenge the end with this tiny spark?" Nidhogg's voice echoed like thunder. "Pathetic human, you are nothing but an insect trying to change your fate, while the end itself is the absolute truth!"

As its voice fell, the world seemed to collapse completely, and all-consuming darkness rushed towards the sky, as if to completely erase its existence.

But the darkness did not touch him; instead, it was forcibly dispelled by some more violent and intense force.

—A deep roar emanated from Tian's body, like an ancient beast that had been dormant for a long time being awakened.

Tian's pupils contracted slightly. He could feel a burning vibration in his chest, as if something was reviving in his blood. That power had been dormant for many years, never truly released since his birth, but now, under the dark oppression of Nidhogg, it had finally awakened.

“…I see.” Tian murmured softly, a cold smile appearing on his lips.

In the next instant, his body temperature soared, as if the air around him was being scorched, and fiery runes appeared on his skin, like inscriptions on burning bronze. His pupils changed from deep blue to golden bronze, with intense flames flickering deep within them.

Nidhogg's golden eyes narrowed slightly, seemingly intrigued by this sudden change.

"The bloodline of the Dragon King... Hmph, you mere remnants of the Bronze and Fire Kings dare to act arrogantly before me?"

Before he could finish speaking, Nidhogg suddenly raised his claws, and black runes condensed at the tips of his claws, transforming into destructive dark energy that crushed towards the sky!

But the heavens did not retreat.

His rune spear was instantly engulfed in flames, the runes on the spear glowing and transforming into pure dragonfire! He leaped up, swinging his spear to meet Nidhogg's claw strike!

"Jun Yan!"

He roared, and dragonfire erupted, its intense heat twisting as it charged towards Nidhogg's claws. In an instant, the heavens and earth trembled, and flames surged forth like a raging tide, carrying the majesty of a dragon monarch, attempting to halt the movements of the world-destroying demon dragon!

"Oh?" Nidhogg let out a low chuckle, a subtle ripple stirring deep within its golden eyes. "A mere human dares to try and fight me with the power of a dragon king?"

It trembled slightly, and darkness surged like a tide, instantly shattering the bronze chains!

Tian's figure froze in mid-air, his pupils contracted sharply, and before he could even react, Nidhogg's other claw had already torn through the void and slammed into him!

"boom--!!!"

The whole world trembled at the blow. Tian's figure flew backward like a kite with a broken string, crashing heavily onto the dark earth and sending up a shower of sparks.

Blood gushed from Tian's mouth, his rune spear shattered completely, the power of bronze and fire still burning in his blood, but he could no longer stand up.

Nidhogg slowly raised his giant claw, looking down at the fallen sky, his tone still calm: "You piqued my interest for a moment, a half-blood. But unfortunately, a king is a king, and you... are not worthy to be a chess player."

Tian lay on the ground, breathing rapidly, his consciousness beginning to fade.

He lost.

But he is still alive.

Nidhogg slowly retracted its dragon claws, its golden eyes slightly narrowed, as if looking at a toy about to be destroyed.

"Go and rest, mortal. The end... has not yet come."

Darkness swept in again, engulfing everything.
