Transmigrating into a dragon clan experimental subject, is that even possible?
Chapter 251 (Bonus Chapter 3 for New Year's Eve)
Caesar sheathed his rune sword, his usual nonchalant smile still playing on his lips: "So, shouldn't we celebrate?"
Lu Mingfei rolled his eyes: "Celebrate my ass. We should be thanking God we can get back alive."
Chu Zihang's gaze was calm and firm: "The Secret Society will not give up. We will have even bigger battles to come."
“Then let’s wait for them to arrive.” Caesar patted Chu Zihang on the shoulder. “After all, we’re not so easily defeated.”
The runes on the ground gradually faded, and the dragon aura that had permeated the entire ruins dissipated with the collapse of the alchemical artifacts. A brief calm returned to the air, with only the remaining scorched earth and shattered metal fragments telling the story of the fierce battle that had just taken place.
"Is it over?" Lu Mingfei let out a long breath, propped himself up with his short sword, his legs still trembling slightly. "I thought I was really going to die in Shekou this time."
Caesar smiled broadly and patted him on the shoulder: "Don't be so negative, Mingfei. You did well this time. You'll get used to it after a few more tries."
"A few more times? You might as well just buy me a tombstone." Lu Mingfei rolled his eyes helplessly.
Tian's fingers moved swiftly, manipulating the rune gun to confirm that all energy nodes were disabled: "The summoning circle has been completely destroyed, and the Camarilla's path is blocked."
“They will find a new path,” Chu Zihang said calmly, his movements swift and decisive as he sheathed the dragon. “This is just a peripheral plan for them; the revival of the dragon race remains the ultimate goal of the Camarilla.”
Lu Mingfei rubbed his forehead: "I really don't understand why those guys insist on resurrecting the dragons. What good would it do them to revive them?"
Tian analyzed, "The Secret Party believes that by controlling the will of the dragons, they can reshape the world order and even become the rulers of a new era."
“Insane logic,” Caesar laughed. “But these madmen have always been very steadfast.”
Lu Mingfei sighed: "So we have to keep chasing after them to prevent their plan from succeeding?"
"This is our responsibility," Chu Zihang replied succinctly, his gaze remaining cold and unyielding.
Just as everyone was preparing to leave the ruins, Tian suddenly frowned, and the display screen of the rune gun flickered: "Abnormal energy fluctuations detected. The core that was just destroyed seems to still have some residual energy."
"Could it be any more troublesome?" Lu Mingfei couldn't help but complain.
“It’s not just a simple remnant.” Tian quickly adjusted the equipment, his tone becoming serious. “This fluctuation originates from a core fragment of the Dragon Clan’s will, and it’s very likely an emergency measure left behind by the Camarilla.”
"In other words, those guys had a backup plan?" Caesar raised an eyebrow. "That's bad news."
“We must make sure we wipe it out completely.” A resolute glint flashed in Chu Zihang’s eyes. “We can’t give the Secret Service any more chances.”
After a quick scan, Tian pinpointed the location of the energy source: "It's in the underground area of the ruins. The Camarilla likely sealed it there using an alchemical device."
Lu Mingfei wailed, "Underground? I thought I could finally go back and have a cup of hot tea."
"It's not time to rest yet." Chu Zihang's eyes flashed like lightning. "Let's go and deal with the remaining threats."
The underground area of the ruins was dark and damp, with the lingering chill of the dragon race still present in the air. The four of them walked through the narrow stone steps, their footsteps echoing in the empty passage, as if even the walls were whispering.
Caesar looked around, a smirk playing on his lips. "This place is even older than the one up here. I really don't know how the Camarilla found it."
“They’ve spent decades, or even longer, digging and researching,” Tian calmly replied. “The Camarilla’s target has always been only one thing—dragons.”
Lu Mingfei looked around warily, muttering, "If another giant water monster or something jumps out, I really can't take it anymore."
"If it exists, then kill it." Chu Zihang gripped the Dragon Cutter tightly, his voice filled with a cold determination.
The rune gun in the sky flickered with a faint blue light: "Ten meters ahead, the energy source is in that room."
The four arrived before a massive, heavy bronze door, its surface covered in runes that shimmered with a faint, eerie blue light. The energy fluctuations in the air grew increasingly pronounced, creating an involuntary sense of oppression.
"Are you ready?" Chu Zihang asked in a low voice.
Caesar casually raised his rune sword: "I'm ready anytime."
Lu Mingfei took a deep breath: "Come on, we don't have a choice anyway."
Tian pressed the switch on the rune gun, and blue light converged into an energy pulse, precisely striking the rune node of the bronze door. With a deep hum, the bronze door slowly opened, and a chilling aura rushed out.
In the center of the room floated a metal sphere surrounded by runic chains, with blue energy ripples flowing across its surface, as if it were nurturing some terrifying being.
“A fragment of the Dragon Clan’s core will,” Tian confirmed. “It must be destroyed.”
"Then let's not delay any longer." Chu Zihang drew his Dragon Cutter, flames blazing on the blade, his eyes filled with determination. "To completely eliminate the threat posed by the Secret Society."
The blazing flames reflected on the bronze rune walls. Chu Zihang gripped the Dragon Cutter, the blade's emerald green light contrasting with the blue energy of the metal sphere, enveloping the entire room in two distinct forces. The air was thick with the unique pressure of the dragon race, as if time itself had frozen.
"This thing looks like a bomb that could explode at any moment." Lu Mingfei frowned, the short knife in his hand trembling slightly, as if reacting to the unsettling force in the center of the room.
“To be precise, it’s far more dangerous than a bomb.” Tian calmly operated the rune gun, scanning the rune array on the metal sphere. “The Camarilla are using this device to try to seal the core will of the dragons within the sphere. If we sabotage it improperly, it could directly release the remaining dragon power.”
"So it's a bomb disposal game?" Caesar raised an eyebrow, twirling the rune sword in his hand. "How interesting. I'm not good at this kind of delicate work."
"Don't do anything reckless," Tian warned. "Any misguided intervention could trigger an energy runaway."
Lu Mingfei took a step back: "Since it's so dangerous, how else can we solve it? We can't just leave it here as decoration, can we?"
“Destroying it is the only way,” Chu Zihang said coldly, his eyes sharp. “But we must find its weak points and dismantle its structure from the inside.”
"Heavens, where are those nodes you mentioned?" Caesar asked casually, as if he was already used to this situation.
The blue light screen in the sky flickered, eventually locking onto several symbols on the metal sphere: "There are three core nodes. Their energy flow must be cut off simultaneously to prevent the backlash of the dragon's will."
"At the same time?" Lu Mingfei was taken aback. "We don't have three arms."
"That's why we need to cooperate," Chu Zihang said in a deep voice. "Mingfei, Caesar, act in sync with me. Tian, you're in charge of monitoring energy fluctuations and reminding us at any time."
"Understood." Tian quickly took his position, the light of the rune gun enveloping the metal sphere. "Start the timer. Complete the operation within thirty seconds, or the rune chains will restart."
Chu Zihang nodded, his gaze resolute: "Let's do it."
The three quickly dispersed, each targeting a node on the metal sphere. Chu Zihang's Dragon Slash blazed even brighter, its blade aimed directly at the energy flow of the core symbol, slashing down without hesitation. Caesar's runic sword, crackling with blue lightning, precisely struck the second node; sparks flew, and the light from the runic chains noticeably diminished.
Lu Mingfei gritted his teeth, the short knife in his hand emitting a blinding blue light. He took a deep breath and swung the knife fiercely into the third node, the intense runic energy causing the entire room to tremble violently.
"The chain energy has been reduced by sixty percent." Tian's voice was calm and steady. "Maintain this position, and make the final cut in five seconds."
"I really hope this goes smoothly!" Lu Mingfei gritted his teeth and persevered, his forehead covered in cold sweat.
The energy flow within the metal sphere grew increasingly chaotic, and blue ripples spread uncontrollably outwards, as if the entire room had been engulfed in a storm. The whispers of the dragons echoed in the air, as if countless slumbering beings were awakening.
